user905133 Posted October 6, 2019 Posted October 6, 2019 (edited) Definitely one of a kind!!! If there is an afterlife, I'd expect Mr. Baker to be vibrantly active. Thanks for alerting us to his passing. I will be celebrating his life listening to his artistry Edited October 6, 2019 by MusicMan11712 (aka Dr. Steve) 1
Hidden Symmetry Posted October 6, 2019 Posted October 6, 2019 atonal apples, amplified heat I got Wheels of Fire on my 10th birthday. Back then he & Mitch Mitchell were THE drummers. RIP 1
synkrotron Posted October 6, 2019 Posted October 6, 2019 (edited) A ripe old age, I am sure that many will say. I actually hate that saying, to be honest... I want to live until I'm 357. Well... Sometimes I do anyway. I only got to see Mr. Baker once, during his brief tenure at Hawkwind. At St Helens. R.I.P. Edited October 6, 2019 by synkrotron 1
Old Joad Posted October 6, 2019 Posted October 6, 2019 (edited) Don't be sad, he is jamming with Jack Bruce at this very moment? Edited October 6, 2019 by Old Joad

craigb Posted October 7, 2019 Posted October 7, 2019 Yep... My Mom always calls me when a musician dies "Do you know who [name] is?" She made that call about Ginger while I was driving home from a client tonight...
bitflipper Posted October 7, 2019 Posted October 7, 2019 And the last remaining member of Cream is 75. Rock won't be killed by disco, punk, rap or Nickelback, but by the inexorable passage of time. At least these guys all survived 27. 1
Byron Dickens Posted October 7, 2019 Posted October 7, 2019 ? Make it past 27 and stay off of small aircraft seem to be the two secrets to having a long career.... 1

Beware Mr Baker... tom Hey Tom, We were in the same place at the same time. That is where I saw Blind Faith too. I had floor seats.
craigb Posted October 9, 2019 Posted October 9, 2019 Best I can do in this "me too!" contest is that I almost got to see the Beatles in '66 in Los Angeles (even if it was at Dodger Stadium). Unfortunately, although pressed by relatives and friends to go, my (relatively non-interested) parents used my young age as an excuse not to go! ?
DeeringAmps Posted October 10, 2019 Posted October 10, 2019 Baps, i was up in the cheap seats on the side. As I remember it, Clapton was mostly obscured by a pa column. 6 degrees of separation ? Tom
