scook
The Event List view and PRV controller pane should provide more info about the data.
sadicus
...it's the track view and the lines look like volume, velocity or some kind of controller data (I would never purposely turn on) and it's ruining my day lol It's CC1 Mod data showin in the Clip. sadicus
...so how exactly to hide the controller data in the track view? Only want to see the MIDI notes.
Starship Krupa
You are trying to use in-line Piano Roll View? If not, just switch your Edit Filter back to Clips. If you are, do this, in this order: 1. Pop open the Take Lanes, at which point you should be in full velocity tails horror mode 2. Then go up to the MIDI menu at the top of the Track View and switch Show Velocity off, back on and then off again, Unless it's already off, in which case, toggle it on, then off. This seems like it's probably a bug.
David Baay
The MIDI menu shown in your screenshot applies only to the inline PRV. It's not possible to hide only controllers in a clip when not using the inline PRV. Your options are: 1. Uncheck View > Display > Display Clip Contents This hides all clip data in both MIDI and audio clips; probably more extreme than you want. or 2. Use controller envelopes instead of individual messages which will be a lot cleaner, especially for straight-line ramps like this that only need a node at each inflection point (Cakewalk interpolates and sends intermediate values on playback), There's a convenient function in the Clips menu to 'Convert MIDI Controllers to Envelopes'. After converting to envelopes, and thinning out unnecessary nodes in the envelope, switch the edit filter back to clips, uncheck View > Display > Display Ghosted Data, and you won't even have to see the envelope when you don't want to. sadicus
I don't know how controller data got into the MIDI. 'Convert MIDI Controllers to Envelopes'. thanks for the info, I'm sure a combination of all of th above will be needed. Haha! full velocity tails horror mode"
scook
Could be a failing mod wheel on the input device. It is possible to avoid recording CC data by unchecking Controller in MIDI record preferences. There are a variety of ways to delete unwanted MIDI data from clips. Here are three: Delete the data using the Event List or Piano Roll views. Both of these views may be used to directly access CC data. Add the MIDI Event Filter MFX to the MIDI FX Rack, filter out the unwanted data and apply effect. Convert CC data to envelopes and delete the envelope.
David Baay
Those controllers look far too structured and consistent to be due any kind of random input. And few synths will not sound radically different with those controllers removed. That said, Edit > Select by Filter is my preferred way of selecting all controllers of a given type to copy/cut/paste, move, delete, etc. Start by selecting the track or clips you want to modify; filtering has to have something to work on as input.
sadicus
@David Baay THAT is the only thing that worked. "There's a convenient function in the Clips menu to 'Convert MIDI Controllers to Envelopes'." @scookI am interested in the other methods, but will need tutorial. I don't want to see the controller data in the clip, not just filter it out. "apply effect." did not seem to do anything, will you elaborate? Event Filters have a "select all" but then what? Delete and Delete special just deleted the entire clip, not the selected data. Delete the data using the Event List or Piano Roll views. Both of these views may be used to directly access CC data. Add the MIDI Event Filter MFX to the MIDI FX Rack, filter out the unwanted data and apply effect. Convert CC data to envelopes and delete the envelope. sadicus
Ah, ok yes it is working as expected, thought it would show in the clip realtime. Now these two options will work, thank you! Edited August 29, 2019 by sadicus
