DeeringAmps Posted July 14, 2023 Posted July 14, 2023 My gawd man, we been hacked (at least spamalated!
mettelus Posted July 17, 2023 Posted July 17, 2023 Ugh, I usually read the forums to wind down before bed, and they lit up almost all the forums with that crap tonight.
Canopus Posted July 17, 2023 Posted July 17, 2023 I hope that Invision (the forum software) has some built-in configurable tools to protect from attacks such as these, or that a plugin with such functionality can be added. If all these posts are made by bots, it’s impossible to beat them if they only can be removed manually after the fact. Bots won’t get tired, but janitors, Australian or otherwise, sooner or later will. 1
Byron Dickens Posted July 17, 2023 Posted July 17, 2023 May the fleas of a thousand camels infest the armpits of these spammers. 1

mettelus Posted July 31, 2023 Posted July 31, 2023 Every post that bot makes has special characters in the title, specifically "<<" and ">>" are used a lot. I am not sure how complex the filtering system is, but another thing is only Lars would be posting once per minute (or faster), so a temporary block on any account that does that would also catch this bot before it can flood.
Bruno de Souza Lino Posted July 31, 2023 Posted July 31, 2023 If these are recurring, then you'd need some sort of triage. Usually, spam bots die down when your registration has to be manually enabled by forum staff. Another way which is more work and would slow down the forums considering would be what Black Magic does, which is each post has to be approved.
