Julian Cope – Peggy Suicide

Led Zeppelin – Physical Graffiti (mainly because it’s a double album so more to listen to!!)

The Cure – Greatest Hits (cop out I know but I’d have to take too many Cure albums otherwise)

Klaus Schultze – irrlict

Hawkwind – In Search of Space

Frank Zappa – Hot Rats (I have around 50 Zappa albums – how do you choose 1??)

Stevie Wonder – Talking Book

Velvet Underground and Nico

The The – Soul Mining

Smiths – Hatful of Hollow

As others have said, choosing only 10 is impossible!!

I had all the early stuff on Vinyl (including Rats).
Pretty extensive CD collection, including the first run CD's that must have been aggressively compressed;
I find them "tiring" to listen to. Consequently I have many duplicate titles.

When Hendrix passed in '70, Zappa became my new Rock "idol".
(of course, I already had Freakout, Absolutely Free, Only in it for the Money, Uncle Meat, Burnt Weeny, Weasels,
not to mention Vincent Furnier's Pretties for You, Easy Action, and who could forget the GTO's Permanent Damage?,
or the good Captain and Wild Man Fischer; "merry go merry go, merry go round")

t

obviously I went over to the "dark side" early...

? or ?; yah?

I don't really think you can know until an album has been out for 20yrs if it's did the test of time. A few albums I liked back in the day of not aged well !

In no particular order:

Violator - Depeche Mode

The Bends - Radiohead

Power, Corruption & Lies - New Order

Together Alone - Crowded House

The Marshall Mathers LP - Eminem

Songs For The Road - David Ford

Whatever People Say I Am That's What I'm Not - Artic Monkeys

The Circus - Erasure

Black Holes and Revelations - Muse

Eyes Open - Snow Patrol

Jeff Beck Blow By Blow

I have a very small collection of LP's and that is in it.

The song "Going Down"...That is how you use a whammy bar!  I can't believe Jeff Beck didn't snap the neck off the guitar he was abusing.

No one has mentioned the obvious: Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon

Well, except for the three replies that reference it! ?

(Two specifically and one that's wondering if it should be added.)

Ironically, it's not even my favorite Pink Floyd album!  Possibly not even in the top three...  (Wish You Were Here, Division Bell and Animals ... at least!)

Oops.   I should have been more careful...and taken more...Time.
