Opening MIDI files

I could have sworn that at some point along the way, if you opened a MIDI file in Cakewalk, by default it would apply the TTS-1 synth and you could just hit Play and hear something... Am I crazy? Lately I've been having to insert it as a soft synth and then manually assign each track's output to it...

I heard this too, saw the details in a post, and tried it myself.  I am not sure where the posts I saw are--too many references to TTS-1.  I think it only gets inserted automatically under certain conditions.  Maybe whoever posted that will chime in.  Just wanted you to know you are not misremembering that!

Make sure nothing is selected in the MIDI output section in preferences.

Automatic use of TTS-1 only happens when no MIDI output device is enabled.

At some point I did that and somewhere along the line it reset to selecting my MIDI out port... maybe one of the updates did that?

Al, I opened a .mid just last week, and no TTS. What? Saw your post and thought, what’s changed. Then of course, @scook reminds us; “check your settings”! What’s changed, my midi output of course. Doh!
