How does it sound? If it sounds good then it's the right amount. If it doesn't, do more.

What do I do about my Volt 2 dedicated driver (ASIO) not being compatible with Cakewalk
Lord Tim replied to Tommy Johnston's question in Q&A
NAM is damn impressive, that's for sure! All of those new neural modelling plugins are just insane, and Ola has some great sounding models. I believe Leon Todd has a few models as well (he's more of an Axe FX guy but tries out a lot of other stuff), but if you're going high gain modern metal, you can't go too wrong with Ola's models and IRs. -
What do I do about my Volt 2 dedicated driver (ASIO) not being compatible with Cakewalk

OK, you can only use one ASIO device at a time, and I see you have FlexASIO selected. If you deselect that in both recording and playback, you should be able to put ticks in the Volt and get it to be chosen for a start. I can see the Realtek HD ASIO driver in there, which definitely comes with a warning message that it's incompatible - that driver is actually broken and will cause major issues, so perhaps this somehow got checked and was throwing that error but it seemed like it was coming from Volt? Try ticking just the Volt stuff and see what that does first -
What do I do about my Volt 2 dedicated driver (ASIO) not being compatible with Cakewalk
Lord Tim replied to Tommy Johnston's question in Q&A
Cakewalk hasn't changed since November last year so if you're suddenly finding things aren't compatible, it's not a Cakewalk issue as such. Can you show some screenshots of: Preferences > Audio > Devices Preferences > Audio > Driver Settings Preferences > Audio > Playback and Recording Let's narrow down what's actually on your system and enabled first to rule that out and then we can work out why this might be happening. -
(Fixed!) Phone login no bell for replies to your questions

Yeah, it's all screen width dependent on a lot of sites (this included). But it should theoretically be working now and give you the Hamburger menu on a smaller window size now. (I haven't checked on a desktop yet) -

Hey guys, check your phone stuff now - it looks like Mobile and Tablet view have had a fix and we have a new Hamburger Menu with an alert bell in there. Works great for me (you may need to refresh your browser) but let me know if it's not working and I'll pass that on to the devs. -
Can Reaper song project file be brought into Cakewalk
Lord Tim replied to treesha's topic in Cakewalk by BandLab
They have timestamps, so if you choose to import them at their timestamp positions, they (theoretically) all just snap back into place. It.... does work, but it's iffy in my experience, depending on how the destination project is set up. I do a lot of remote mixing sessions for clients and the most common way we do it is like how @OutrageProductions mentioned. Most of the time they're just regular WAVs rather than B-WAVs but it doesn't matter if I have the original tempo map from the MIDI and they all start from the same place. -

A Smarter Person Than Me may come along and correct me but I don't believe this is possible right now. Perhaps with adjusting the Windows Display Scaling? One of the reasons the upcoming Sonar has a vector based GUI is to seamlessly enlarge parts of the interface, so maybe that might help. Otherwise, the Marker View or the Marker drop-down in the Markers module on the Control Bar might help you get around? Alternatively, rather than using markers, the Arranger Track is a great alternative and is much easier to see than Markers are.

Ah there we go, sometimes the simple answer is the right one What I think has happened with the driver is something else has tried to take exclusive control of it and it's shut Cakewalk out. What kind of audio interface and driver model (ASIO, WASAPI, etc.) are you using?

The driver thing sounds weird but let's pass over that for a bit. What happens if you open the project in Safe Mode by holding down SHIFT when you open the project, and saying NO to loading each plugin? Does it play with the plugins not loaded? It's possible something has gotten into a bad state that's blocking the audio engine from playing somehow. If it plays with no plugins loaded, close it (without saving) and use a process of elimination to rule out which one it is. 32 bit plugins are the biggest culprit here, as is older DX plugins. It's sometimes useful saving a safety copy of the project before you do any of this work, so if you're doing a process of elimination, you could delete all of your busses and save as a new project and see if it plays, or delete half of the tracks and see what it does - if it plays then you know the problem is in the second half of your project, so you can further refine by deleting half of those tracks and seeing if it works, and continue on until you find the culprit. One thing you might be able to do is to save everything in the project as a Track Template, then starting up a new project and importing that template, and then copying in the source project's audio and MIDI files. If this is effects related, this will probably fail on the new project though, but it's worth a shot just in case the tangle is somewhere in the project topology rather than in an effect state. There's a few other things to try, but start there and see how you go!

I mean, Patchwork is pretty great and I use it too but I'm not sure if it's worth resurrecting 4 older threads to mention it ?

I can say now that I was running CbB on far less than the suggested specs for Sonar has on the product page. It wasn't ideal but it worked. Considering Sonar is more or less (at least at the beginning) CbB with a refreshed UI, I'd feel pretty confident in saying that those specs are a "this will make your life comfortable using this product" guides rather than "oh... you have THAT processor? How awkward...." not gonna run specs.

^^ Yeah, pretty much still this I'd say.

Hmm... weird, it works on my phone and I can trigger the breakpoints by resizing the PC browser window as well. I'd say once this gets sorted on the back-end it won't matter too much, ultimately. -

It's mostly resolution triggered. What kind of phone / screen resolution are you using, Max? -
There's a big difference between Selected Track(s) and Active Track. That's the key to understanding what stuff will be copied and what the target track will be. Let's look at this as an example: You can see tracks 34 - 37 have their numbers highlighted, which I got by clicking the number itself (or holding down CTRL and selecting multiple numbers). That means they've been Selected. If you don't have a time range chosen on your ruler, then any cut/copy/delete actions will affect all of those tracks or, if you have a range selected, it will work on all of those tracks but only in the range you have on your ruler. But do you see how track 37 has the name selected? That means it's the Active track, which I got by clicking into the track name area. So anything you paste into a track will treat that as your target, or the first of how many tracks if you're pasting in multiple tracks worth of data. You can Select as many tracks as you like, but there can be only one Active track.

It's been reported already - phone and tablet view are currently still broken after a software update. If you go into your phone browser and switch it into Desktop Mode temporarily, you'll see the missing header icons. Then once you tap what you need and get there, you can switch back up mobile view. I'll give this another chase up, it's pretty inconvenient. -
Not to derail the thread or any actual answers (please still do answer Bill, folks!) but ... why tho? There's probably a couple of useful bits of software stretching back that far, but they've either been replaced by better Cakewalk versions, or other third party plugins that do the job much better in the ensuing decade or so. I get that there might be legacy projects that still use this stuff, and this is valid in that situation of course, but for fresh projects I'm wondering if this is more trouble than it's worth? Of course, if you're doing it just for the hell of it so you have it all, absolutely go for it! But I'm personally not convinced there's a real lot of value of such old products in 2023 myself. X3 or Platinum onward? Sure - I did that myself to get all of the stuff I paid for with SPlat, etc. but pre-X.... yeah, I personally wouldn't. Sorry Bill, that wasn't much help to your question! I'm sure someone will come along with an actual answer soon!

This is fairly old code at the heart of it, I guess. I personally find it just works for me in almost every situation, but it might be worth looking at something like Super Massive that's more modern and excels at long decays. (And free)
-
I personally don't find it crashy at all, but it does sometimes cause issues with the sound cutting out in some rare scenarios, and while it's in the current session it'll kind of stop everything from playing. Start a new session, put it back in and... it works fine. Like I said, though, it's rare and it's all over dozens of my productions here with zero issues, so whatever is the deal with its quirks, I'm not overly finding it much of a problem myself.

You might need to refresh the page when you do that. Or, in some cases depending on your resolution, turn your phone to landscape mode so it triggers the breakpoint to switch views. There's 3 different views: mobile, tablet and desktop, and the icons only appear once it passes the width to trigger desktop mode. -
Just a glitch, unfortunately:
