It's a pretty bold move by Waves to get into the realm of trademark infringement with SPL (De-Verb). That aside, I wonder if the AI technology leads to the Waves plugin doing a more thorough job? It would be interesting to see a head to head comparison.

Since I own both I may try to find a snippet that could benefit from that comparison. ?

I noticed the tutorial on Groove3 last Saturday and also created a thread about it, but alas in the Tutorials forum. Stupid choice, I know. 9_9

And for the benefit of worthless knowledge, I've made a quick check on Groove3 to see how much coverage some of the currently active DAWS have. Quantities are in number of tutorials available in descending order.

    • Logic Pro: 91
    • Ableton Live: 54
    • Pro Tools: 47
    • Studio One: 41
    • Cubase: 32
    • Reason: 29
    • FL Studio: 13
    • Reaper: 8
    • Digital Performer: 7
    • Bitwig Studio: 3
    • Cakewalk by BandLab: 1

Reaper should be 0, Kenny Goia (sic?) does a great job (for free) doing fairly deep dives into the product.

  3. I use ATH-M50x for drummer to wear during recording (reduces bleed) and since I'm in the same room with the drummer I wear them too.

I use (mainly) Sonarworks profiled Sennheiser HD650s for mixing, and if I'm in the mood I'll use Slate VSX to get a flavor of different environment reactions to my mix.

I also have a pair of HD-600s (non-profiled) and Ultimate Ears (in ear) reference monitors with personal molded earpieces.

If and when I want to use actual speakers I have first generation IKM iLoud MTMs with an Adam 8" subwoofer.

I rarely have a vocalist in my home studio but I have available an AEA R84 ribbon mic, Slate VMS ML-1 and Slate preamp, Townsend Labs Sphere mic with all the UAD available mic modeling profiles and an AKG C414 form the 80s that was modded to be transformer less.

Thanks. I did. I only had the option to buy one of the nee pedals at $12.64. It just had the free one to redeem. This happened just release too and I had to email support.

I own everything Kuassa, including 360. I redeemed the poweramp, while I already had all three gainia pedals in my account with licenses available to download. I too had the $12.64 offer but simply did not take it. Like you @Greg my account has been kind of messed up all along too.

  5. Seriously though, UAD hardware based Unison plugins with an Apollo interface is the way to go.

Recording a band, you want a Neve preamp for the guitar, API for the drums, Helios on the bass, Avalon, SSL or Manly on the vocals? Either printed to tracks or just monitored? No problem.

You monitor thru UAD's Console app (not the DAW). DAW runs at 2048 buffers but the Console APP is "latency free". It's a joy to work in.
