  1. There are many threads here about interfaces not being recognized, but none of the solutions I've seen in those other threads have worked in my situation. I installed the Line 6 ASIO driver for the POD Go, then connected the POD Go to a USB port. Windows recognizes the POD Go and plays the audio test jingle properly, but the POD Go does not show up in the device preferences in Sonar or CbB. I've tried renaming the AUD.INI files before starting Sonar and CbB. I've tried shutting off my regular Focusrite interface and then rebooting the PC with only the POD Go powered up. Again it shows up in Windows, but Sonar says there are no audio devices available. You're supposed to be able to record the POD Go guitar outputs directly through USB. You're also supposed to be able to use the POD Go as a reamp device for previously recorded tracks. That is the main reason I'm trying to get this to work. Any ideas?
  2. No expert here, but the integrated graphics on my Intel CPU work fine for Sonar.
  3. Interesting stuff. The Oliver Sacks book is a great read. Other related books I've enjoyed: Daniel Levitin's "This Is Your Brain on Music" and "I Heard There Was a Secret Chord." "Of Sound Mind" by Nina Kraus also explores the mechanisms of hearing with a lot of attention to music perception. This area has become something of an obsession with me since acquiring diplacusis (hearing the same tone as a different pitch in the left and right ears). More recently my perception of pitch has become so distorted that notes a couple of octaves apart sound out of tune (for example the C below middle C and the C two octaves higher). Brain retraining exercises seem to help, but it's been challenging.
  4. Thoughtful tribute, Greg. RIP Colin.
  5. Years ago in college a friend and I did an independent study project building a harpsichord from a kit. The initial work was done in a grimy basement room in my dorm. The final adjustments took place in the big room behind the auditorium that held the two Concert D Steinways. When no one else was around, I played them. Even with my limited keyboard skills, it was an unforgettable experience. To this day, the most disappointing thing about the many digital instruments I've tried is not the sound, but the feel of the keyboard action.
  6. Mostly I remember tucking the mouthpiece of my trombone in my pocket to keep it warm when we weren't playing. That's fall weather in Minnesota, or at least it was 50 years ago.
  7. This has happened to me occasionally. Not a disk problem, in my case anyway. If I remember right, I just started and stopped the transport then was able to save normally.
  8. I've seen a fair number of big name performers, but my most enjoyable concert was the most unexpected. In the early 1990s a friend said we should go hear South African performers Malathini and the Mahotella Queens at First Avenue, a Minneapolis club. I didn't know anything about them at the time. When we got to the show, they told us that Malathini (Simon Nkabinde) was sick and couldn't perform. We had the option of getting our money back or staying for a show by the three women of the Mahotella Queens with the backing band. We stayed and were treated to a fantastic show with a mixture of African popular songs and unique covers of American music. Just remembering the powerful voices and energy of those women, not young by any means, sends a shiver up my spine. The band was terrific too. It was a great evening.
  9. With my luck, I'd get the one telemarketer in 10 million that speaks German. Probably better than I do.
  10. Sorry you've been put through all this aggravation, Bob. But this thread is performing a useful public service by reminding me why I never want to get involved with Facebook.
  11. Yes, I understand the options and am happy to still be able to use CbB while waiting for the new Sonar's terms to be sorted out. I just took this opportunity to whine about the curious strategy of requiring such frequent reactivations. What does Bandlab gain by confusing or, at minimum, annoying its users this way? I realize any answers to this question from other users are all speculative anyway. By the way, I've been a loyal customer since long before the original Sonar came out and hope to continue when the new Sonar is formally released.
  12. This is what I do when I get that message. It works fine. What I don't understand is why I'm being asked to reactivate when CbB knows I'm already signed in to Bandlab?
  13. Yes, I checked again this morning. It still shows the same note from yesterday saying my order is being processed and that they'll send an email when the serial number is available in my account.
  14. Has anybody else got this deal? I paid yesterday and am still waiting for a serial number from Plugin Boutique. Surprising, as they've always been prompt with my other purchases.
  15. Yes, this happened to me a few weeks ago. I always follow the same process when exporting final mixes, but in this instance a clip was missing from the exported file. Even after I verified the missing clip was playing properly in the project file, it just wouldn't play when exported. I don't remember how I fixed it -- might have bounced the clips in the problem track. I haven't run into this problem again since then.
  16. Looks good. Can we suggest additional quotes? Here's one from Mark Knopfler's song "Industrial Disease": "Philosophy is useless. Theology is worse." Disclaimer: I have a philosophy degree.
  17. Sorry to hear the sad news, Keni.
  18. OK, you guys talked me into it. ? This is my first venture into the Kontakt ecosystem. A question for people with a bunch of big sample libraries: can you run them successfully from a portable USB-attached hard drive? I've got a Western Digital drive I plug in for local backups, but I've never tried running samples from it. Before I go and load it up, I thought somebody here might know if it's worth trying. Thanks.
  19. Good story. I had no idea making a blue LED was more challenging than the others, but I remember buying my first string of multi-color LED Christmas lights years ago. Most of the blue bulbs had dimmed or failed completely after the first season, while the other colors continued to work fine. I wondered at the time what was different about blue.
  20. @craigb WHAT?! @treesha Thanks for the encouragement. I appreciate it. @Bapu Thanks for helping bump this thread. Stop by any time. ? @bjornpdx Thanks for listening.
