This was what I also thought about them but... - some of their deals are really good (like BF2019 and some of their next deals) - you don't need to pay for newer version even if they are upgrading whole engine - it is given for you 4 free - some of their plugins (but not all) are in fact group of plugins so you are in fact buying little bundle (like not just 1 preamp or compressor but few variations etc) - they can really appreciate their customers buying more (what is - as unfortunately we know after experience with some big names - not so often) I mean they are giving vouchers with your discount earned constantly (before every sale and more) and their vouchers aren't inflationing (like some well known examples ) and what's more they seem to be permanent. After reaching next discount threshold you are at that level permanently (at least my history with AA is like that) - converting a plugin to newer engine means a deal for new version (an of course free for old one owners) But yep, true is they require completely different workflow and high resources usage . You just need to set buffer size to big one to avoid audio drops/click/pops... They react with some latency what is at the beginning confusing and annoying. So they are good only in mixing or mastering but not recording ... But about recording with plugins in 'real' time I believe solution like UAD+LUNA is currently unbeatable

But who knows maybe Waves will surprise all and release newer and much improved versions and your WUP give them to you for free

Cool I am also belonging to RME camp (FF 400) . While I am not completely happy how drivers cooperate with fun part of Windows but about the more 'serious' applications never any issue and like mixer letting route audio very much. Clever and easy to use. Please keep your promise do not forget to put some words about your impressions

I also prefer new GUI over old one and consider it clearer Old one had not so clear fonts and modes for my not very sharp eyes . But like Matthew I would like to have it with scalable GUI or at least some fixed zoom choices.

Hm? Isn't Softube using iLok? I did several cloning to migrate to bigger disk and I had been using iLok and didn't noticed any problem. Are we talking about raw disk cloning? Byte to byte? Where every data on disk is exactly the same... So only apps which auth scheme used things like disk serial could have an issue as all data on both disk are just the same... OS disk drivers are able to notice disk changed for obvious reason (it could lead to issue when migrating to disk with different driver never used in OS before). Clean cloning OS disk i a little 'tricky' as it requires booting from pendrive and clone under control other OS (best non Windows, not to let OS updates any internal data), and also important is no to boot when still both disks are connected and connect cloned disk to the same data chanel as was original disk. But using disk procedure disks are indistinguishable at data level so if you have driver already present in OS (what in most cases are true) after migration/re-connection, old disk removal etc the best practice is perform reboot just after first boot on new disk and then resize disk (!). If you have rare case driver is not present or Windows decided to use driver wrongly there is pretty simple workaround. Connect empty new disk as new disk data register it in OS. If it is working Windows did all needed setup so you can just shutdown and use procedure described before. I need to did this trick few years ago when I started to use Crucial disks as otherwise cloning failed because after reboot Windows discovered new model and tried to use not proper driver so system was totally unstable. After few failure tries I thought initially maybe disk is broken but realized analyzing OS behavior driver is not working. So after that simple trick cloning action ended successful In fact any time it was successful but lack of drivers setup for OS disk which is booting and used is completely different animal than just adding another data disk. Running OS just need to have proper driver setup for disk containing OS. Kind of obvious as you talk more but one can be tricked as Windows is doing many things in background transparently to user and apps (what is good of course)

hm, which one, Zo? Generally cloning disk is transparent for apps and mostly OS unless they use actual physical disk serial or so... I think most authorization machine based use rather mb, cpu etc to verify if still on the same machine...

A few things good to know about buying AS VSTi: - wait for deal, currently there is not the best time to buy basses, as there are deals for guitar. - every time they are releasing new instrument they are making deal for the same type so with releasing new bass or bigger update they will do it again - unfortunately - and this is a little pain - to get a fat deal you would need to buy more at once as they are discounted much more then. For instance price for 4 electric basses bought separately currently would be 4*$119=$476 but buying them all in 1 order give price $308. So if they were in sale it would be even better - there are also extensions for Jazz bass and Precision bass but it is the best to skip them because of 2 reasons: they are not doing any discount to whole price so anytime price for an extension is added as full price to sum and there is a chance at one point they will integrate them into VSTis with no additional cost (as they did for electric guitars)
