  1. I actually like rent-to-own models. Only thing with that model, is that you’re paying full price most of the time. Companies don’t usually give you the sale price on top of a rent-to-own product. With that said, I much prefer RTO over subscription. At least you get to keep a product that allows us to open our previous sessions. Software/App subscriptions are at the very bottom of the totem pole… yes, below WUP.
  2. We can all thank Adobe for the surge in software and app subscriptions being offered by other companies. The amount of profit Adobe makes quarter after quarter is just ridiculous. They are the subscription standard and they're just riding this billion dollar cash cow. Not until they all start losing money will those companies stop offering subscriptions. So yeah, we need to hit 'em where it hurts... their wallets. Please don't subscribe, folks. When you subscribe, you're just validating the whole software subscription business model. So, cancel those subscriptions from Adobe, Avid, Capture One, PA, Reason+, Roland, Slate, Mobile Apps, etc. There are alternatives.
  3. If you go to Waves.com main page. Zero info about "any" of this. No links, no FAQ... nada. Only way to have gotten any notice or information is from forums like this or an email from Waves/3rd party vendors. What kind of company does this??? You would think the information that was in their newsletter could at least be found somewhere on their website, but NOPE! Lastly, I really don't like the timeframe that Waves gave us. Out of nowhere came a March 26th deadline. And we're literally all left wondering, "what tf is going on?!" You'd at least think we'd have a year's notice (at least that what would seem like the right thing to do). I'm eagerly waiting to see what all the hubbub is about after March 26th. I sincerely hope it's good news for customers.
  4. I have plugins that need to be WUP'd as well. I just hope we're not missing out on a great opportunity to get cheaper WUP updates while we still can from places like EveryPlugin.com. Whatever comes after March 26th, I just hope it's good news all around.
  5. Can't imagine it being the end of freebies. What better way to hook us into getting WUP'd.
  6. Going forward, I wonder what happens after March 26th. I sincerely hope Waves do not force registration deadlines(again) when we make purchases at online shops like EveryPlugin or BestService. I’d like to dictate when I register my own purchases(or give as a gift for someone else to register). If they ever force another registration deadline, that’s the last straw. I’ll forever think of Waves Audio as Shady Audio and they’ll lose me as a customer for good. Btw, I contacted Waves about this whole debacle wanting more clarification(especially for an instance of making a purchase extremely close to March 26th, like March 25th, for example. Or another scenario where a customer wanted to give their registration code as a gift to someone else to register at their own preferred date. I asked in both scenarios, is there a grace period to register? Customer support said, “If you have another license that you have never registered, this will need to be registered by March 26th. Once our registration system has been updated, older licenses will no longer be able to be registered.” So yeah, Waves is basically saying you’re SOL if you don’t register by March 26th. Seems like this is a hard deadline with no sort of willingness on Waves’ part to help or remedy in any capacity once the clock strikes midnight.
  7. I'm just not a fan of Waves forcing that March 26th deadline. Reeks of a sketchy business move.
  8. Ahh, I see. Thanks for the info
  9. I'm out of the loop... what did they do to Orb Composer?
  10. Gotta say, I like how they listened to user feedback to adjust they discount pricing. Definitely want to invest in their sonic extensions now.
  11. I want their sonic extensions mainly for their included FX units. Top shelf stuff
  12. Looks like UI was made by Blizzard. Kinda like Hearthstone, heh. Wish Melda would put a little more effort into their UI
  13. best deal i've seen on this plugin. i want this plugin, but don't think i'd use it much. also, only works with certain vst instruments.
  14. Cool plugin! I also like the fact that this developer makes Rack Extensions for Reason. Where are these guys located?
  15. Wish I received the $50 voucher. I only got $25 and I own everything, except for Xtressor.
  16. I'm in the same boat. If I had the budget, I'd most likely be using FabFilter as well.
  17. What are some your guys’ fave Waves alternatives? Although I just recently heavily invested in Waves plugins, I’m sick of their BS and want to support the other guys. Here are my favorite Waves alternatives: - Melda (free updates for life? Yes, please!) - UAD (Perfect timing for them to go native) - AIR (surprisingly good!) - Softube (just pure quality plugins!) - D16 (creative goodness!) - Audio Damage (secret sauce!)
  18. I recently purchased IK Total Studio Max. And I’ve since registered and activated it. IK never forced me have to register and activate my purchase. If I wanted to, I could have waited much longer to register/activate. Can’t do that with Waves, though… What Waves are doing is just wrong. And they say they’re doing this because of a change in their authorization and registration system???… what a bunch of BS. They’re literally just forcing WUP down our throats. Hopefully someone that has the resources files a lawsuit against them.
  19. I like Waves plugins, but this is ridiculous. Seems like they’re forcing this upon customers. Don’t know another company that has done this. I purchased the Waves Platinum bundle around last November from EveryPlugin. I’ve yet to activate it. I’ll most likely activate beginning of March. But just imagine if I had purchased the Waves bundle from a third party vendor like EveryPlugin a week before the deadline or maybe on March 25, 2023. Are Waves gonna still force me to activate by the 26th? No grace period? Seems very sketch. Sincerely wonder if they could be sued for this.
