No doubt about it! The Pugtones know how to rock! Love that change that comes in about the 1:48 mark! Keep them coming lads!!

Hi Dream Art Scientists. Thank you very much. I consciously try, on most songs (especially Blues, Bluesabilly and old style R & R), to inject a bit of that live performance quality.
-
Luv the little BGV's that come through on occassion. Most cool indeed!

A couple of months ago my wife and I celebrated a rather significant marriage anniversary. I wrote this song for her in celebration and appreciation of our life together. It is very stripped down and minimalist. Only two guitars with an occasional third for a few accents. Only one vocal with the occasional harmony. Oh ya, it is not Blues or bluesabilly. As this style is a bit different for me, any comments, suggestions, crit.'s would be very much appreciated. Thanks!! A SONG FOR ALICE https://www.soundclick.com/artist/default.cfm?bandid=963481

Thanks very much Steve. I enjoyed your last couple of posts!

Very well done all the way around! The performance, arrangement, mix, video all worked in creating a very pensive (?) mood! I liked the little hidden enhancements like the video change when the vocalist sang about her heart beat -- cool!
-
Very well done and professional performance and mix. Also - some very good guitar work.
-
Excellent piece of work! I too liked the bass work (the drone throughout was perfect). Good guitar work and the music certainly complemented the video. BTW, cool ending both visually and musically.

Hi Bjorn. I am most happy that it helped. Thanks very much for listening and taking the time to comment!

Jesse - you post the most unique and interesting song on the forum. I love this one. I like that bass in the background - perhaps it could come forward just a bit?? Cool stuff pal!

Loss of a love one is always tragic on a personal level. This is a very nice tribute to your brother. As far as the song ---- I love it. It has the style and sound of the Blues that the UK brought back to the USA back in the mid-1960's. This reminds me a bit of the sound and style of Peter Green's FleetWood Mack. A bit raw, a bit rough and definitely the Blues. Great stuff!!!

Love it! This song does have a bit of a retro feel to it and as such I think your vocals fit very nicely. I did not hear the 1st version but this one sounds great and the harmonies add a real depth to this song.

A beautiful song! Admittedly my geriatric ears are somewhat challenged but the mix sounds good to me! -
I agree with the above comments. It does have Sgt. Pepper quality to it. It is complex but certainly in the negative sense. Great performance, recording, mix, etc. Your harmonies were indeed excellent. This was indeed a listening pleasure!

Hi Hidden Symmetry. Thanks for listening and the kind words. Ya, I decided to go back in the alley on this song and try to emulate some early 1960's styles. Hey tom. Yea, I finally got the verb right or at least close to where it should be. Thank you my friend. I always appreciate your suggestions! Hi KSband. Thank you very much!! I appreciate your taking the time to listen and comment. Hi Nigel. The uptempo must be the rockabilly influence on the Blues (maybe? lol?) As always I appreciate your taking the time to listen and thank you for the kind comments.

You have been exploring a number of different styles lately. This is an interesting and cool piece. Enjoyed it - well done!

As a Blues loving guy, I can really appreciate this song. Reverb, what reverb --- nah. Remember this is coming from a guy that abuses the stuff. Great guitar and horns, and you captured the important part of the blues -- the rhythm! Very nice
-
Not really my style of music but I certainly can appreciate the talent involved in the creation in such a piece. It certainly emotes considerable drama and emotion. BTW, being one who is exploring the South American AfroBeat style -- song length is certainly not a problem with me.

Great to hear this "harder" very rhythmic version of the Pugtones. Love it!! Cool ending. Excellent work lads!!!
-
Hey Bjorn! With or without the vocals this is an excellent piece of work complemented by a great video. Well done!!
-
Excellent! Love your vocals and harmonies, Mark's guitar playing (of course) and the excellent arrangement. To repeat myself -- excellent -- all the way around!!!

Here is a little song done up in a straight ahead Bluesabilly style. It expands (kind of) on the adage - when you fall off of your horse get back on it and start riding again. It is just for fun. I did back off on the vocal reverb ---- at least I tried ---- really, I did. There is no accounting for taste and the 'verb may still be a wee bit too much but I kind of like where it is. However, if I have over done it let me know. In fact all comments, crit.'s, suggestions, etc. will be much appreciated!!! Thanks! Great song with a catchy melody. Your vocals and harmonies are great, as is your playing and mix. Love that bass!
