@Jim Roseberry What I'm really saying is that the Turbo Frequency probably isn't needed for a DAW on a 14900k. I have an 11 gen intel, and I'm nowhere to hitting rim on a synth-laden project. Memory, percentage-wise, is a bigger hog than CPU. We all have different work flows; and lord knows I like to tinker and get max efficiency, but I don't feel like it is even needed these days. That said, I'd still tinker 🤫

I don't see the value in overclocking a decent current processor for a DAW at this point in time, I'd rather just add as much memory as can. YMMV

My favorite KI$$ album as well!
-
For me (and this includes my early influences, and excluding classics like Dark Side of the Moon): Ace Frehley and KI$$' Dynasty made me pick up the guitar to start George Lynch and Dokken's Back for the Attack made me put everything in to overdrive Then, some that really have done it for me since: Depeche Mode - Violator Days of the New - Green Duncan Sheik - Humming Devin Townsend - Addicted! Vertical Horizon - Everything You Want Toad the Wet Sprocket - Coil

Groundbreaking pieces of music (in your opinion)

I have two from the late 80's/early 90's Depeche Mode: yes, they had been around for a few over a decade. But Violator reached a level of sophistication that hasn't been topped since in that genre IMO. Listening to that today, 35 years later, I feel the same way: In the late 80's, a friend had this before EPIC hit, and I was enthralled with the blend of different styles of synth/guitar/deep lyrics(read: not girls and blow)and the variety of Mike Patton's voices. The Real Thing is a MONSTER album, and dare I say, the best version of War Pigs: -

You have a good woman! All about the adventure.

I think I tore my psoas at one point, then my hips are genetically defective. Well, one is, the other one is new 🤠Around 2006, I was going to do a Flyers Alumni "fantasy" weekend. Put the deposit down, and it was perfect because it was near my sister's place. But then for some reason, they moved it to Montreal. The event was already too pricey at the time, the change of venue killed it for me.

Sound like a good road trip!

Your hips lasted that long????? That's AWESOME! I retired from playing because too many parts were preventing me from playing the level I had played for years. I knew that if I couldn't play balls to the wall without worrying, it was time to go!

I'm a Flyers fan ...and I'm still bitter about 1997!!! Detroit had a great run not all that long ago, and they'll be back sooner than later.

On a stormy day in Atlanta, this was fun to see. Sure, Ovi gets paid, but he also truly seems to love the game like a kid ...even at 39. Great to have passion in whatever you do (paid or unpaid). Also, the internet wins with memes. If you don't follow hockey, this is an accurate jab at the New York Islanders...

You can get in the weeds with all of this for sure. I absolutely agree with the XMP part, but except for that, if the board supports it and it is a quality brand - you'll be more than fine. Even working in IT and making numerous DAW builds, memory never concerned me.

This seems to fit the bill, and a solid brand: https://www.crucial.com/memory/ddr5/CP2K64G56C46U5

End of Windows 10 Leaves PC Charities with Tough Choice

I find Windows 11 to be marginally better on a legacy machine, but a little better than that on the current generation of hardware. -

Rufus is the easiest way IMO. Use it all the time. -
I like Dream Theater. I've seen them a bunch of times. Still don't want to see them do more than 1 cover at a show, and I get an extra bathroom break if they do more.

**DISCLAIMER: This is a GET OF MY LAWN post** I will never understand why anyone would put the effort in doing a WHOLE ALBUM of someone else's material. Seems like a waste to me. I get doing one or two, but it seems like they should focus on their own creativity. These are different musical arrangements that took time to do. Though they don't sound bad, though I am of the opinion they sonically castrate a good amount of the songs.

Some things never change. I don't miss that part of the band thing.

Last year, I quit coffee for 2 months just to say I could. I had ZERO issues stopping. I have usually one 8-10oz of the darkest blend I can find. Sometimes, I have a 2nd cup, but most days I don't. All of that to say, some of you have a serious issue(s) 🙃

In my old band, I was the "idea guy". The other guitar player I called BASF(they don't make things, they make things better was their commercial tagline) as he didn't do ideas, but he helped to form and elevate ideas brought in because of his musical knowledge. It worked for us. I was watching an interview with Alex Skolnick and Eric Peterson, and it seemed to mirror my example above. A ton of variables out there. The biggest thing is an idea person may be stalled progressing, and a theory person may be generic ...and everything in between.

No sooner do i say that than an extra 20% comes through. Lol.

I've been debating upgrading K14U to K15U, and the same as most, I don't see what I'd be paying $320 for.
