  1. Mibby, me too. I'm hoping this is a "teaser" and that others in the same vein will follow.
  2. When I tried to install it I kept clicking VST3, but it never installed. Finally I clicked VST2 and in installed right away. Maybe it's just my machine, but I just wanted to help people avoid any confusion if they were trying to install VST3 but nothing showed up. I hope I answered your question.
  3. Just to return this thread to the actual topic for a moment, I downloaded and installed this thing and it is quite potent. A little goes a looooong way. It's not bad, but you don't need to use much of it. And, for what it's worth, if you install it if gives you a choice between VST2 and VST3, but, in fact, will only install VST2. Anyway, I think it's definitely worth a demo, and I look forward to what they do with it next.
  4. Fleer, I'm with ya. I don't quite understand the iLok hate. In the early days there were problems, but I haven't encountered any snags in the last 6-7 years. Two years ago I had a HD collapse and had to reinstall everything. With my iLok stuff I got my backup HD out, reinstalled everything, plugged in my iLok and was off and running without a snag. Maybe I'm lucky, dunno.
  5. it looks like Plugin Alliance has caught the Waves $29 bug, I hope it spreads to other developers.
  6. Considering they're free, these things look really good. Using just stock DAW plugins and the better free ones anybody should be able to do some serious mixing work these days. As always, thanks for posting this stuff.

    Jamstix Sale

It is indeed a good deal; but be prepared to spend some time with it. At first I was baffled, but as with most things, the more you work with it the more sense it makes.
  8. I totally agree. It's all coming down to processing power. More and more I see that the only limitation on software is the developer's imagination. It makes me wonder where things will be in 10 years or 50 or 100.
  9. Good grief. You realize now there is absolutely no limit on what software can do, and even if this doesn't nail the tone, one day there will be a software package that does.

    Jamstix Sale

Yes, it is. I have only scratched the surface with this thing and it and give you some great results.
  11. there's some good stuff there. Thanks!
  12. This is all very disheartening to read. I remember ST3 having problems at the beginning to. I was going to pull the trigger, but I'll wait. Thanks for the posts.
  13. A while back I got SampleMagic "Magic A/B". It was good. Then recently I got Mastering the Mix's "Reference" on sale. It was better. Now this. And it looks better than the other two. The rabbit hole is getting bigger and deeper.
  14. ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ That is an excellent answer.
  15. I'm baffled. If she can't sing then why do you think guys come to see them?
  16. These days I'm using Slate VMS because it indulges my indecision neurosis ad infinitum, but previously I had been using an ancient CAD Equitek that still sounds great. And if I might, here is a short story about vocals and mics: YEARS ago I was in an honest to God pro studio playing guitar for a friend of mine who was making a record. The engineer was using a U47 for the vocal and the singer sounded phenomenal. After we got done we had a few minutes left so I asked if I could hear myself through the mic. Now this is the U47, The Holy Grail. THE Mic to conqueror all mics. This is the ONE everyone craves today. This is the one every clone strives to be. Originals sell for zillions of dollars. Well, I belted out a line and I sounded terrible! Now, I don't sound great to begin with, but through the 47 it was even worse!! The engineer, who was a good guy, went to the mic locker and grabbed a tiny little SC made by TEAC(!) and, voila, instantly I sounded like a singer! Moral: we all have different voices and you gotta try each mic for yourself!
  17. Ditto. There is one review online and several on youtube. I just got the demo and haven't had a chance to use it yet. I'll get back with ya. BTW the little brother to this thing is on sale right now for $19. https://www.mixonline.com/technology/product-of-the-week-audified-tonespot-bass-pro
  18. If your monitors are powered plug them into a different outlet than your computer.
  19. Hi Perry If you want to hear what you're playing/recording click the midi echo button in the track view. It looks sort of like this )))). Good luck with your music!
  20. Has anyone used this? What do you think compared to Waves?
  21. HS: Have you used this by any chance? It seems very interesting.

    RME stuff

I'm with you. The original Babyface is fairly "old" now, but RME keeps it working. These seem like really great people.
