If you send project file to Cakewalk they can usually find problems pretty quickly. I have also experienced some issues with tracks in folders, particularly for projects created with older versions of Cakewalk. I'm trying to build a project that consistently reproduces the issues I'm seeing for the bakers to play with.

Are you a dance song lover? Do you believe that the music of Junior Walker and the All Stars and Archie Bell and the Drells and Booker T and the MG's represent the pinnacle of human sonic achievement? Do you find yourself doing the Electric Slide while you brush your teeth? Do you have a KC and the Sunshine Band lunchbox? Yeah? Then this is the thread for you! If you've recorded a dance song, whether intentionally or not, post it here! Let us hear your inner groove! Just to show you that quality is not a negative differentiator for the purposes of this thread, I'm posting two of mine, both recorded with more enthusiasm than talent or skill. Both were written to be dance songs, both have sonic issues (and boy, do they!) but I like the the way they are. I've shown mine, now its your turn!

Thank you for listening!

Thanks! Good catches, I appreciate the critical feedback! I think that sound is my wife watching TV. I don't have a studio, just a dinky untreated bedroom right next to the living room. I thought I got it all but must have left a sliver of it in there. I'm posting the lyrics on the site, but the first words of the song are, "Another long day boy, another long night." I know, I often sound like I have marbles in my mouth. That's actually something I'm working on. Thank you!

Thank you, T, great of you to drop by! I hear ya, I kind of agree, but you know, I had no choice, the song wants what it wants. ?

Pretty fine groove with a bass sound I'd love to cop. Awesome chorus and a great mix.. I like the solo and the tones, except that its too short. Besides drinking all your beer, a real drummer will also steal your girlfriend.

Thank you, Daryl!

Thank you for giving it a shot, I appreciate your taking the time to comment.

Great mix and a cool arrangement, I really enjoyed this one. I didn't hear the LP, but. I'm on the road and listening through these crappy Walmart buds so that may be why. Its a great road tune though. ?

I love dance music, doesn't matter what era its from. The Stroll, The Twist, Master Potato, Electric Slide, I love em all. This song scratches that itch for me too. Great vocals, arrangements, awesome mix and it made me want to dance! I once considered starting a thread for us to post our dance tunes and this brought that idea back. Great work!

Great track, looking forward to the addition of the melody!

Horns! I love a tight horns section! Another great tune! You sure know how to craft a great pop song. That was truly a nifty guitar solo, and I learned that building an smoldering rhyme!

Thank you for the listen! What is the model of your Adams? I've been looking for something to replace my 14 year old KRK Rokit 5's. (Yow.)

Thank you, Mark! I have to remember to use vibrato, but once I start I forget to stop and I end up using it on everything. You don't want to know how many vocal takes I did on this one. In fact, I couldn't even tell you. Thanks!

Thank you for sitting through all of it, Paulo. I thought about doing that but the guitar player can beat me up. ? I updated the OP with the final mix. Thank you!

T, thanks for jumping in, and thanks for the kind words, your feedback has always been spot-on and I appreciate it. And as always, you give could advice here. I've had such trouble getting this song mixed that I honestly toyed with the thought of hiring someone to do it even though none of my songs will ever be performed or see any more light of day than they get here. A pause will do me some good. I'll take a leaf from Jesse Screed's tree and move on to the next one!

Mark, I'm going to give that section with the panning issues another listen and hear what you're talking about. That's a good catch, thank you for lending your ear and for taking the time to give your thoughts, I really appreciate it!
-
Given that every other poster here says the same thing, I'm guessing you're probably right about that. I did the guitars so I guess you're right, the guitarist mixed it, hah! Really though, because I did the vocals I know what they say so I suspect that they're clearer to me because I know them so well. So that's yet another argument for getting someone else to mix/master. I sure appreciate you listening and commenting on the mix, Paulo, thank you!

Great job covering this, its another high-quality cover thats become your trademark. That said, I'm much more appreciative of your very detailed production notes! They're absolutely great and have opened my eyes to techniques I would never have thought of. Thank you for that.

I picked up both Vinyl and Chambers, can't wait to give them a try.
-
... on plug-ins. I saw Abbey Road Chambers and Vinyl plus for 29 each. That seemed pretty good to me.

My Jesus <- my personal favorite. Too bad it's not on Spotify, it would be on my every day playlist. You've got a great idea here, Jesse. Has this effort sparked any creativity that you wouldn't have otherwise experienced?
-
Lynn, thanks for your feedback, it's always welcome! I remixed it again with speakers instead of using headphones, give it a listen and see if it's any better.
-
Thanks, Sabby! I'll see about getting those T Shirts printed up. ?

Great tune! This reminds me of the great male vocal acts of the 60s like Neil Diamond and Gary Puckett. Nice to hear people making music like that still. My only real nit is the relatively unchanging nature of the rhythm section. I think more attention to building and releasing energy as the song progresses would take this song to another level, particularly around the guitar solo. Really good vocals with an engaging m elody!
