Me too! I've got two 23" monitors which were cast-offs from an office upgrade that work great. But now, I'm finishing my basement this year and looking to "upgrade" my studio and am interested in what works (and doesn't) for others. Up to now I have been mixing and making music in an unfinished basement that can get down to 45 degrees in the winter. ?
-
With all of the year end sales and an "upgrade" in progress for my basement studio, I am wondering about this. Is anyone using a TV as a monitor? Any Pros/Cons in doing so? Is a particular type or size better - or should I just stick with a PC Monitor and upgrade that?

LOL! They almost gotcha!

Happy B-Day Lars! ? -
I've just gone through and set up my DAW's Dynamic EQ, TDR Nova, MAutoDynamicEQ, MSpectralDynamics, VoxDucker and TrackerSpacer to duck a track. I stand by this statement above 100%. PS. I'm not familiar with Hornet's TotalEQ or Sonible's SmartEQ3, but couldn't figure how to side-chain them immediately and moved on...
-
Sure can. You can do it with any dynamic EQ/Compressor/Multi-band Compressor that allows External Side-Chaining. Here's Nova's manual page: https://docs.tokyodawn.net/nova-manual/#Sidechain_Input PS. There's not much you CAN'T do with Nova. It totally kicks butt.

Most likely this - and mixing of course! Apollo 2? Would I need a Thunderbolt card for my PC - or is USB good enough? Like I said, I've never paid much attention to this brand because of the cost... Oh no...

Happy Holidays from Scarborough, Maine, USA! -
OK all of you UAD guys, I've always looked the other way when I saw a UAD sale/thread because they were waaaaay too expensive. But, IF one were to dip a toe into the UAD pool, what is a good entry level step in that direction? Mostly mixing and some collabs... Asking for a friend. ?

Then why don't I have this?? Must be a pain to install or something? ?

Ditto! I couldn't have said it better! ☮️

You can do the same thing any number of ways with many different plugins, but the workflow on this one makes it the first one I reach for. It's just so well done.

I like Track Spacer pretty well. I also picked up VoxDucker. Great price and it's good to have alternatives. I haven't had a chance to try it out yet, but as you said, it looks very promising with lots of options. IMHO, UnitedPlugins mis-marketed VoxDucker by saying it was for Podcast voice overs. PS. One thing that is so great about TrackSpacer is the UI and the workflow. It is just sooooo easy to use!

You must be living right. That's the BEST deal of the year! Did you get Melodyne Essentials with it too?

Holy crap!! What @Grem said! Yeowsa!!!

I'm pretty sure the v1 +10dB bundle gets you the upgrade for free. Just email him, he'll make it right. Maybe try logging out, then logging back in? I didn't see the free upgrade at first either.
-
Same here. Now here's a Dev who takes care of his customers! What a great upgrade. Thanks Boz!

Hi @mgustavo May I suggest that when you are trying to dial in the frequencies and levels on your mix, first find a commercial song (or a few) that have a similar sound (or sections) to what you think your mix should sound like. Then compare your mix vs the commercial reference with the different frequency ranges on the isol8 plugin. It will help you identify pretty quickly if you have too much bass in your mix for example. If you can get your mix in the ballpark of a commercial mix after soloing the different frequency ranges, it'll get you a lot closer than just trying to make it sound good on the different Mixchecker options. The key is to reference your mix against known good mixes to see how and where you can improve yours. If your mix sounds comparable to your reference tracks, it should translate just fine on different speakers and in different settings. PS. When you listen to your reference track, make sure that it is not running through any of the processing and effects that your mix is.

Waves Studio Classics Collection API + SSL + V-Series Native
mibby replied to Larry Shelby's topic in Deals
Case and point. I'm installing my Waves plugins now on my traveling laptop, and here is the description from their website... IMO, a current plugin owner should NOT have to pay for any of these "features"... -
Can I pre-order one of those UAD Apollos when you want to give them away?? ?
-
Same!

Waves Studio Classics Collection API + SSL + V-Series Native
mibby replied to Larry Shelby's topic in Deals
This. I'm pretty sure I have a few v9 plugins that have never been updated, so why WUP? Also, other Devs generously offer lifetime updates which makes me a loyal customer. OR, a paid update will spell out what has been improved on and fixed so you can decide if you want to pay for it. Honestly, there is zero incentive (for me) to continually pay Waves for plugins I've already bought and that they are done developing and not interested in adding new features or anything like that... -

It's OK to like the plugins but hate WUP. The funny thing is, I've had my travel laptop setup for almost a year now and haven't installed my Waves plugins. I'm leery of trying to get my v9-v11 plugins working... -
Freebie: Reverb Drum Machines | The Complete Collection

PS. While you're checking out the freebies on Reverb, be sure and grab Reverb Solo by Acon Digital. Acon has an update freebie on their site too, but I don't know what it is about this particular reverb, but it sounds great on snares. It's simple to dial in so you'll know right away if it'll work or not. But it has a roundness to it and gives a nice depth and fullness. Just a little is all you need. https://reverb.com/software/effects/acon-digital/47-reverb-solo -
