This should not be necessary. Make sure the default project sample rate in preferences is the same as the sample rate in properties for the Windows playback device (assuming CbB and Windows are sharing the same audio device). Also do not use WASAPI Exclusive driver mode.

Enhanced editing with keyboard - Why is it??
scook replied to winkpain's topic in Cakewalk by BandLab
IIRC, it was added to support the VS-700 Still running the this funky setup? -
It's a Studio Cat PC, contact @Jim Roseberry

What is the path to the M1 dll?

The only ASIO I know of from Realtek is a buggy mess. Can't recommend installing it.
-
The Mixing Latency Buffer Size slider is greyed out because the selected driver mode does offer an adjustment. If you are stuck with Realtek, try the other driver modes (except for ASIO). Finally could also try ASIO4All, a wrapper for the WDM driver.

There are a few threads about Antares products. It appears the VST3 plug-ins are a problem, try the VST2 format. I have no first-hand experience with their products.

You will need to record the audio from the hardware synth. Session Drummer may be rendered during export. The X3 Help link for export is http://www.cakewalk.com/Documentation?product=SONAR X3&language=3&help=Mixing.48.html

Don't think there is an exact number but here is post that suggests problems may happen when 100s show up late
-
When using ASIO Driver Mode only one driver may be used at a time. This is a limitation imposed by the ASIO spec. To switch drivers deselect both input and output drivers before making a new selection.

Some vsts don't show up in cakewalk

Make sure to generate the log too. If the plug-ins are not picked up with reset, the log should contain clues to the problem. -

Try reset -
Take a look at the virtual B3 in the first expansion pack. Discussed here To transpose use either the Key+ in the inspector or Transpose MFX DP has a per element transpose setting too.

Scan or Reset? After running the reset look in the log for the plug-ins. -

Make sure to enable "Generate Scan Log" and run a VST Reset (the button to the right of Scan in VST Preferences). While in preferences make sure "C:\Program Files\Steinberg\Vst plugins" is in the scan path. Also verify the path, especially the space in "Vst plugins" (it probably does not have a space) and use backslashes instead of slashes like old school Windows. And don't forget the colon (:) between the drive letter and the first backslash. If the path is not correct in VST preferences then that is all the needs to be fixed. A regular scan should pick up the plug-ins, otherwise; run the Reset with log. If the plug-ins do not show up in the Uncategorized folder check the scan log, -
Yes. If you always use per-project audio folders, the Global Audio Folder should be empty.

I did not know that was the purpose of the exercise. Here is the process I might to make what I call a seed project (something akin to a project template except fully configured project with plug-ins only, no automation, no audio clips, no MIDI clips) Save As to a new location with "Copy all audio with project" deselected Select all tracks - from the track view tracks menu Wipe Tracks to clear all track data and automation Select all buses - from the track view track menu Wipe Tracks to clear all bus automation That said, I usually create seed projects by first creating track templates for the elements that I plan on adding to the seed project, then create the project from those templates. This way I have both an empty project that I can use instead of a project template and also have the tracks as templates too when I want to add them to other projects or rebuild the seed project.

I do not set the project folder in preferences. I prefer to use a directory junction instead. If you change the folder in preferences make sure to change the Global Audio Folder to a folder in the new project folder path. I have not tested in some time but the Global folder used to hold temporary files that get copied into the project audio folder. This could take quite a lot of time if the files were large and the global and project audio folders were on different drives. I also move the picture cache off the system drive and put it on another drive other than the project drive. Probably not as big a deal if projects and cache are on the same SSD though. I use a custom location for project templates. This prevents CbB updates from overwriting the templates. CbB only writes to factory default folders.

For #2 from http://www.cakewalk.com/Documentation?product=Cakewalk&language=3&help=0x201D9 I use drag and drop from either Windows Explorer or the media browser for import so I set the Wave folder to my export path.

Save does not move anything. It just saves the current project file in the current location. Save As and Save As Copy can copy project clips if "Copy all audio with project" is checked in the dialog. If you just want to create a new copy of the project file but use the same audio folder use Save As or Save As Copy, give the project a new name and deselect "Copy all audio with project."
-
Save - save the project in the current location with the current name Save As - save the project in the current location with a new name or in a new location with or without a name change. Closes current project and loads new project. Save As Copy - same as Save As except does not close the current project or load new project. I just installed the v1.31 64bit Safe plug-ins from http://www.semanticaudio.co.uk/projects/download/ They scan and load OK in CbB. What is the complete path to the Safe plug-in dlls on your PC? When you wrote "cakewalk scans them" how do you know? Did you create a scan log? If using the default "Sort by Category" the Safe plug-ins are in the Uncategorized folder. -
It is possible to individually change the velocity of MIDI notes in a track but volume (CC7) affects the whole track. There are a variety of ways to adjust a selection of MIDI notes. Here are a couple of links Most drum plug-ins have a way to adjust the volume of individual kit pieces too.

Enable "On Stop, Rewind to Now Marker" in the Track View options menu. Keyboard shortcut CTRL+W toggles the feature. Chance are the key combo was hit by mistake.
