  1. The search box to the left of Support below the user login is a site search.

If I need to perform a site search on the old Cakewalk site, usually I filter the return result for "SONAR Platinum, Professional and Artist"

Then modify the url to point to the Cakewalk documentation

For example, to change the link from the SONAR Platinum version of the MIDI Event Filter MFX

    http://www.cakewalk.com/Documentation?product=SONAR&language=3&help=Plug-ins.3.html#1630159

to the current CbB page, change the product in the url from SONAR to Cakewalk

    http://www.cakewalk.com/Documentation?product=Cakewalk&language=3&help=Plug-ins.3.html#1630159

Often this will bring up the exact page. If not it is generally pretty close.

    Not perfect but adequate.

Also, if I know the feature was added to CbB, I open up the New Features section of the help and use the browser word search to find the appropriate link or open the release notes and search it

  2. It was buses interleaved with tracks that caused the my display problem with the comps.

Ultimately, to get the buses with comps under the tracks, I had to reorder all the buses.

This may be a CbB issue though. Not sure if other DAWs have this issue.

I would like to see if the buss comp only controls one instance of the plugin (ie on your master buss) or if you can use it as a channel comp. I don't use the SSL comp on my master so if it can't do channel duties that would be a waste.

The meter for every instance of the compressor shows up in a column on the right in the 360 software.

Clicking the meter makes the knobs at the top of the display active for the instance.

In CbB, the instances appear to be added to the display as they are added to the project.

There does not seem to be a way to reorder the display.

  4. First make sure the controller is powered on, connected directly to the PC (IOW not using an external hub) before starting CbB.

There are a limited number of things this can be:

    • The controller is not sending MIDI data.
    • The connection to the PC is bad.
    • The device is not seen in Windows
    • The device is not setup in CbB.
    • The MIDI driver mode is not set correctly in CbB

Assuming Windows sees the device, to verify if the PC is receiving MIDI data, install MIDI OX. If it sees the data, this rules out the first two.

If MIDI OX does not receive MIDI data, replace the USB cable.

If it still does not receive MIDI data, the controller is either misconfigured or bad.

  5. Instrument tracks like the one shown in the image record MIDI data.

They display audio waveforms only when the track is frozen.

The Surrealistic MG-1 VST3 has Enable MIDI Output selected by default but it is not necessary for recording.

There is not enough information in

i am not able to record the instruments, when press Record button and start to play that virtual inst., it doesnt create the waveform and no recording done.

How is the instrument being played while recording - a hardware controller, the virtual controller or the keyboard on the plug-in UI?

I'm new to all this. What do I need to own from SSL to have this working (because I'm assuming it's not free)? Thx

v2 of their console strip and bus compressor plug-ins AKA the SSL Native Essentials Bundle.

A little pricey @ $479, it was on sale earlier this year for $50

v2 is a free upgrade for owners of the original plug-ins.

I usually put an EQ with a HPF before the verb to tame the mud, and sometimes a LPF after the verb to kill excessive highs

That's certainly easier than dealing with it on a per-track basis and probably better in the long run.

  9. Generally problems with the current production release should be posted to the thread created for the release.

This makes it easier for the developers to see and respond to problems with the release.

The current release is 2021.04 and its thread is

  10. Could place an aux track or another bus in between the instrument and the reverb bus and  apply EQ there.

Any track/bus with its output set to None generates a "Silent Bus Detected" warning. I do not recall this ever causing the DAW to hang. The DAW does wait for the user to clear the warning message.

There may be something else going on. Maybe holding down the SHIFT key while opening the project will help. This starts the project in safe-mode. Also may want to make a copy of the auto-save file. Hopefully versioning is enabled too. Both are useful should this turn into a project recovery exercise.

    In this case,

So I duplicated certain instrument tracks and EQ’d the clones to tailor the send frequency ranges. I then sent these signals, pre-fader, to the verb bus, and set the track output assignment to none.

it would be just as easy to use the regular output of the cloned track instead adding a pre-fader send thus avoiding the warning message.

If one really wants to use tracks/buses with the regular output set to None and not receive "Silent Bus Detected" warnings set WarnSilentBuses to 0 in Preferences > File > Initialization File.

Sounds great, but where is it!?!?! I can't find it on their site. Is having the native essential good enough to get the 360 mixer?

I have bought the channel strip and bus compressor a couple of months ago, so its great to have the new version for free.

Thanks for your video on the bus compressor. You rock Zo! Can't wait for your review of the channel strip.

Hmmm...   There's actually a NEWER version on the UC1 page compared to the UF8 page...   ?

    UC1 = SSL_360_v1.1.31.47800.exe

    UF8  = SSL_360_v1.0.23.46009.exe

  12. Had I experienced the same failure, I would have expected it was for SSL hardware owners only but then why would @Zo mention grabbing the software in the first place?

Would have driven me nuts too.

Glad you got it sorted out.

I also noticed that there is a "Plugin Mixer" button on both the Channel Strip and the Bus Comp,
but pressing them opens the mixer, but there is nothing instantiated in the mixer.

yeah,  it either runs or pulls up the existng SSL360 mixer

  14. Not sure what to tell you.

All I did was install and the software.

Ignored the "No Devices Connected" message

Click the Plugin Mixer, the Tips and Shortcuts popped up (this is also a button at the bottom of Settings)

Don't recall if the Tips popped up on top of "No Devices" or when I clicked the Mixer button. Was not paying attention at that time.

    Started CbB

Loaded the VST3 version of the plug-ins and they populated the SSL 360.

I don't run as administrator and use Windows AV software.
