Yes, here is the documentation about instrument definitions. All the instrument definitions used by the DAW are stored in "%appdata%\Cakewalk\Cakewalk Core\master.ins." Additional instrument definition files are installed with the DAW. Their default path is "C:\Cakewalk Content\Cakewalk Core\Instruments" There is a section of this forum dedicated to instrument definitions https://discuss.cakewalk.com/index.php?/forum/46-instrument-definitions-new/

Assuming both mics use the same interface, phantom power does not add latency. The largest contributors to latency (and the two a user has control over) are audio interface buffer settings and plug-in delay compensation. For many interfaces, the interface buffer setting may be adjusted in preferences. Others use software supplied by the interface manufacturer. A quick test to see if plug-in delay compensation is an issue is the FX button in the Mix module. When enabled, this will bypass all effects. If the delay goes away, one or more plug-ins somewhere in the project are causing the delay.

The plug-ins are not part of CbB, There were bundled with SONAR Platinum in separate installers. IIRC, the installers check for the presence of a valid SONAR Platnium install. Before installing CbB, I completely installed SONAR Platinum along with the two LP installers. The plug-ins load OK on my PC. The folders in Cakewalk Content do not contain the plug-in binaries. By default the VST2 format plug-ins are in C:\Program Files\Cakewalk\Vstplugins\LP EQ C:\Program Files\Cakewalk\Vstplugins\LP MB and the VST3 format plug-ins are in "C:\Program Files\Common Files\VST3" If you need to install Platinum again, make sure re-install CbB after Platinum.

After bypassing all effects using the FX button in the Mix module, re-enable the track FX rack by clicking on its power button or right-click in the FX rack and deselect "Bypass FX Rack"
-
Yes, it is possible. CbB always records the data at the track input. To record effects, they must be applied before the input. This may be done by routing the track containing the effects chain to another track using a patch point or aux track and recording the track with the patch point as its input or the aux track.

piano roll Changing, Saving and Exporting Piano roll notes.
scook replied to Cyril Johnson's topic in Instruments & Effects
The alternate note names are stored in %appdata%\Cakewalk\Cakewalk Core\master.ins Copy this file to the same location on the other machine. It is possible to created individual instrument definition files from the data in master.ins using the export function in the Define Instrument and Names dialog in preferences too. These files may be imported on other machines using the same tool. The instrument definitions in Cakewalk Content are not read by the DAW. To use them, they must be imported using the "Define Instrument and Names" dialog in preferences. -
same thing The name was changed with SONAR Platinum/Professional/Artist/Home Studio

As @Kevin Perry mentioned, the plug-in should be added to the track MIDI FX rack. I added more detail in
-
Thanks to all who contributed to helping me out, Try adding the plug-in to the MIDI FX rack. This applies the plug-in to the whole track, The "Insert Effect" in the clip context menu adds the plug-in to the clip FX rack. Just like audio FX racks, every track has one. Every clip has an FX rack too but, the OP a track level application. Instrument tracks do not show the MIDI FX rack in the track view, it is on the MIDI tab in the inspector.

Please do not cross-post thanks

Has anything changed since
-
What is not clear from the OP is if the Melodyne VST3 is installed.
-
It is not built into the DAW, it relies on the Melodyne VST3 plug-in. CbB includes a time limited trial version of Melodyne as an Add-on. When the trial expires, the plug-in still works for monophonic drag and drop audio-to-midi and tempo map.

Can't import audio into instrument tracks so the menu option is disabled. -

This will produce a tempo map To extract MIDI note data, the clip must be dragged to an instrument or MIDI track.
-
Not sure what you expect. The Vocoder is not in the project. It must be added to the audio track FX rack, the plug-in must have "Enable MIDI Input" set in the VST drop down above the plug-in UI and the MIDI track output must be set to the plug-in. The project has none of this. I modified the project to include the VST2 TAL-Vocoder [link removed] Download and open it in the DAW.

Try using MFX Transpose in the MIDI FX rack instead of the Key+ setting

Only one ASIO driver may be selected at a time. To change ASIO preferences, deselect both Input and Output settings first. -
[Solved] Use Step Record to input notes but offset by 2 Ticks?
scook replied to Johnny Tsao's topic in Cakewalk by BandLab
I run the default values Step size is 960 (Preferences > Project > Clock - Ticks per Quarter-Note) Auto Advance Offset is 0 and everything lines up OK. With settings like the images above Step size set to 192 Auto Advance Offset set to 8 I get the same result as the images...notes offset by 2. -
could be step recording

This thread is not about plug-in layouts. I answered in the thread you created
-
Make sure the synth layout is set to "Sort by Category" When the layout is set to "Sort by Category", categories may be maintained in the Plug-in Browser. The plug-in manager has nothing to do with category tags.
