Hello, I am a 30 year Cakewalk user and former professional performing musician. I have linked a Soundcloud page with some of the songs my partner and I have recorded. Recording and mixing is still a mystery to me, even though I have spent a considerable amount of time trying to figure it out. Almost all of the instruments are played by me, Hugh Curtin started half the songs and I have finished all of them. Artie Hoar and Hugh Curtin share vocal duties. We are all originally from Long Island. I cannot arrange songs on Soundcloud but wish I could put them in order of quality. We also have a Christmas album out on Youtube, Spotify, etc. I hope you enjoy them. Michael Richards

That's where I disabled it. -

Hi Glenn, I disabled it and when that didn't work I deleted it. So, disabling didn't work for me. -
Permanently delete Realtek ASIO Audio HD
Michael Richards replied to Michael Richards's topic in Cakewalk by BandLab
I've done this many times. So, just to be sure I did it again. Clean install with just the driver and PhysX options selected. It then selects my monitor audio (which I have to uninstall) and guess what? In 10 minutes I received this message: NVIDIA audio was disconnected would you like to reroute. I select yes and all is good. Five minutes later the same NVIDIA message appears. Why? It is not installed and I already told it to use my RME drivers. -
Permanently delete Realtek ASIO Audio HD

I thought I would address a few issues, here. Disabling or deleting Realtek or Nvidia audio drivers have done nothing for the past 18 months. They just reappear. I use WASAPI Shared when I control or work with musicians in other states so I can hear their tracks in my speakers, or headphones. Other than that, I always use ASIO and find the RME written drivers are as stable and fast as advertised. I had deleted the Realtek in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ASIO, but it didn't work. Scook mentioned doing so with a graphic and I realized I just wrote delete after the Realtek name where I should have literally deleted it. I did and that one is solved for now. The NVIDIA audio does not appear in regedit. I am sure I let that bad boy in when I installed the NVIDIA video card. I've done this at least 30 times. I have been having dpc latency issues that might be related to this card. I have tried every driver NVIDIA has for the 3060ti and settled on an older one and I have tried to only install the bare necessities. This has been going on for a year so I might have slipped up on the audio driver. Still, I have the audio disabled in the Nvidia control panel to no avail. -
Strange midi problem. SOLVED
Michael Richards replied to Michael Richards's topic in Cakewalk by BandLab
It wasn't de-authorized and now, by no action on my own, it is working. I turned the computer on and off 5 or 6 times and now it works. It makes no sense. It never happened before. Thank you all for your inputs. -
Permanently delete Realtek ASIO Audio HD

Thanks Scook, I will do this. -
I use IK Multimedia Sampletron 2. It no longer works with my keyboard. If I play the visual keyboard in Sampletron the notes play correctly. If I insert an existing midi file, it plays it correctly. Yet, every other midi instrument plays correctly with my keyboard. The same thing happens with the stand-alone app. I have restarted the computer, turned off the RME Fireface UCX ll. Strange things are happening since the recent Win 11 update. Any ideas?

I need precise instructions on how to completely delete Realtek ASIO Audio HD in regedit. I wiped out many occurrences of this in regedit to no avail. Every 20 minutes, in Cakewalk, I get a message asking if I want to use Realtek. I found several people on the interwebs giving instructions on how to do this, but their instructions are faulty. I did not check to see if somehow loads in the BIOS.

You really can't stop being rude. Sounds pathological. -

Looks like people are beginning to ignore you. You seem to be a snarky little fellow. You may be smart, may be creative, but you don’t seem to be very helpful. I have seen people bend over backwards to help people, me included. I believe that is the purpose of a community forum. -
Sudden loss of audio device

JohnnyV, you are correct. As much as I like playing around in regedit, I did not delete the driver. Sadly, I didn't even think of that. -

The NVIDIA audio does appear in Win 11 Device Manager in 2 places, Audio Inputs and Outputs, and Sound, video and game controllers. I uninstall it all the time and it always reappears in system restart. I guess I will just live with it. It doesn't seem to bother anything, its just annoying to my brain. -
Sudden loss of audio device

Glenn, happy days. Thank you. The redistributables didn't work but I was easily able to reinstall the RME drivers and that did the trick. I've been using the RME for 18 months and this has never happened before. Do you experts somehow do away with the Realtek audio. You can't kill it. Should I figure how to kill it? Same goes with the NVIDIA Hi Def Audio that also keeps reappearing on system restart. -
After a Win 11 update Cakewalk does not recognize my RME UCX ll interface, yet I can hear youtube videos perfectly. I get the error code: There are no audio devices on your system, etc. It says to go to Preferences and choose a different driver model. The only Input Drive is the Realtek ASIO, which is actually uninstalled on my computer. The RME does not show up as an option. Strangely, it does appear as my midi device. I have restarted the computer and still have this problem. I tried to reinstall Cakewalk, as I remember we could always do this, but I don't see this option anymore and all I get is the software is up to date with version 2022.11 Build 021. I'd appreciate any help. I cannot work, as it stands. Also, I would reinstall the RME interface but I am not sure I will lose all my TotalMix settings. Michael

...Not To Beat A Dead Hourse, But!
Michael Richards replied to Jimbo 88's topic in Cakewalk by BandLab
I’m a little confused. Are you saying you want better notation tools in staff view, or are you saying something positive about PRV? I have been using PRV quite a bit in the past year, but it can’t replace what notes do on a staff. They are so beautiful. I wish the new Sonar would have a staff view on steroids. But, I may be outnumbered in this dream. -
I try not to listen to other Cakewalk people. I don't want to be influenced, but I had to hear this progressive rock song. Yeah, I like it and it does have some nice bottom end. I used AD2 for years and just couldn't make it work as well as you do. You are also witty and any lover of Peter Gabriel deserves a listen. Good job, I enjoyed your song.

Honestly, do people have to jump on one another. This isn't a barroom, yet some people come for a fight. It is absolutely ridiculous that posts get hijacked by some who only know how to bully other members' thoughts. This recently took place in the post about the new Next and Sonar products. I use Cakewalk to produce music. I use the forum to help me make this music. Usually, bullies aren't very good at anything except being bullies, so I am taking a leap that they aren't very good musicians. Bring down someone else since you can't bring much to the table. I don't want to shame these people, but maybe (very discretely) they need to be put in a time out for a couple of months. There are some people here who I think are quite brilliant, fine thinkers, technology experts, and superb musicians. I'd rather hear from them.

Introducing Cakewalk Next and our new brand identity

Still on the workflows topic, I would really like you guys to produce some of your own videos on tips, tricks, and better ways to streamline the workflow process. As it is I am sure there are many ways of doing things that I don't do because I am writing music and (for me) writing music consumes all my brain power. I learn almost everything I know from this forum, but videos speak in volumes. -

Here's a workflow issue I would like resolved. I'll be working on one track and then select a clip in a different track and go to ProChannel only to realize I never actually went to the new track. If I select the track on the track number it always does what it is supposed to do. I would like the ability to activate whichever track I am working on, even if I don't select it on the number. -

If you add Repeat, I will buy it. I’ll probably buy it anyway, but so many times I would like to repeat many things that I wonder why we don’t have that function. It would make my workflow much quicker. A quick example would be lowering or raising the pitch of a midi file in one instrument and then selecting any other midi clip and selecting Repeat without having to go into Transpose. Same thing wit an audio clip. Same thing with quantizing. Say you apply a specific delay for a guitar track and want to apply that very specific delay to a piano track. Repeat can do this. -

I like the Next logo quite a bit. The Sonar logo needs help. It has no flare and makes me think my music will turn out rigid, not flowing. Also, look how cool the blue of Next is compared to Sonar's orange that looks like all the color was drained out of it. -

I agree. As much as I like free and paid for a lifetime of Cakewalk, I am sure I will purchase Sonar. As a side note, I always felt Cakewalk sounded like a grade school program and Sonar had the sound of some hip high-tech professional program only the hip could people use. I use 2 monitors, one being 4K, and can’t wait to really see what Sonar in 4K will look like, especially since I use orchestral programs that add up and I’m constantly scrolling up and down the page. Also, I am a big Noel fan and have great trust in him. He’s a smart man and plays a mean guitar. Michael -
Okay, I like this method the best, even though it took a good amount of my brain power to understand it. So, thank you Mark and Xoo for coming in 2nd place in this confusing process. Can you streamline this by combining steps 2 and 4 and then follow with steps 3, 5, and 6? Michael

I'm away from my little studio, but I will give this a try. I think this will solve my problem. Unfortunately, it is not a snap-your-fingers process. My tracks are always a combination of midi instruments and wave files and sometimes the wave files are guitars that utilize a guitar vst like neuraldsp. I don't want to freeze all these tracks before combining. Thank you, Michael
