Wow, Jake, you sound pretty upset. Maybe you could post the video that you mentioned of how your install works and the collective minds here could try to assist. I'm unable to understand what the problem is, do you have a working version and are trying to install an update, or are you trying a fresh installation, or ... Personally, I wouldn't install anything on One Drive as there is always a sync delay between files that have or are being transferred to the cloud and the host computer knowing for sure that they are there. Back when I was working as a programmer, I ran into a plethora of problems that generated very similar error messages to the two messages above. So I'd consider disabling One Drive and installing in such a way that everything is local. Timbo

Thanks for the furry words, Wookiee ... I suppose you could be right about the genre(s), I certainly don't listen to them. This song just happened and I tried to make things fit from there. I am happy with the way the drums fit in to the mix, and with the surrounding sounds I was able to put together. Lyrically, I'm happy with the strangeness of "and the crows cry pain, pain, pain", I don't know where that came from but it made the song. Timbo

Brilliant work Erik! Thanks Timbo PS Sorry for the thread hijack

I got this message yesterday. The system didn't inform me of a pending update in the usual manner and when I ran a check for updates and installed it, I was good to go. Timbo

SK, how do you get Windows to allow that? Please share with screenshots if you can. My Win 11 looks like this, is asynchronous what real time scanning is?

Something I've noticed about the Local Projects listing

Thanks Jonathan, that would be nice - maybe next to File -> Exit, have a File -> Exit and Don't Save the Recent List but better worded than mine! -

Thanks for that Promidi, I wouldn't have been able to remember how to do the script. Timbo -

Thanks folks, Yeah, I could remove the entries but what ticks me off is I've lost the old entries. Maybe Promidi's idea would work for me. Then I could just merge the .reg file back in. It's just frustrating that it changed in the first place. Thanks! Timbo PS Is there a programmatic way to back up that key? -
Thanks for the listen Mark. I try to make up for my lack of musical talent with creativity. I'm not versed in the genre either and couldn't tell you what it is. When I'm writing I try not to censor any ideas that come to me. I'll try to rebalance the piano bit (it's just Scaler) on the next remix. Thanks for your ears, Tim

Every once in awhile when I'm out of creative ideas, I open a bunch of older, incomplete projects just to see if they provide a creative spark. I'll open 10-20 projects. Rather than close Sonar and be left with a list of these projects on the Start Menu rather than my recent projects, I open Task Manager and choose End Task on Sonar. This used to work, and the next time I'd start Sonar I'd have my old project list back. But now the older projects populate the menu even though I killed the task. So I'm guessing that Noel and the programming team have changed how and when the project list is written to the registry and my evil plan no longer works. Nitpicky, but this is bothersome. Anyone have a workaround? Timbo

I'm hesitant to put this song up for song and mix review. There are so many good players here that I find it embarrassing to let folks listen to my stuff. That said, this song is way heavier than the synth based stuff I've posted in the past, both musically and lyrically. And because it is bass and drum based, I'm wondering if I've got the mix right. In fact, I think not. So please have a listen and tell me how this sounds. Timbo crooked people in the shadows mouths overflow with lies untold crooked people hoard our secrets crooked people seen too much for too long they've forgotten more than we've ever known and the crows cry pain, pain, pain they weave straw baskets to cradle their lies and the crows cry pain, pain, pain crooked people spin the promise fractured wisdom for the gathering crowds crooked people sow the sickness crooked people done too much for too long crooked people buried our wisdom crows mock the nameless faces in the ground crooked people sow the sickness crooked people've run the farm for too long they've forgotten more than we've ever known and the crows cry pain, pain, pain they reaped the harvest, salted our crooked bones and the crows cry pain, pain, pain

Hi Jim, I can hear my fans take off when I'm doing something very CPU intensive, but my system doesn't freeze. The guys will need you to supply your PC specs (RAM, CPU, etc), and will ask what kind of project you have open (with a zillion vsts, etc) when you hear the fan, and to have a look at Task Manager to see what's going on with your system, like a virus scanner. So a little more detail please before the experts chime in. Timbo

I'm always curious, don't always ask but I always want to know. Ah whatchamacallits, I'd be nothing without them. Timbo

Thanks aleo for the fix. I've encountered this and similar automation problems in all versions of Sonar that I've owned in my 20+ years, and found this one particularly amusing. For Noel et al, it was on a paste of the automation only. Timbo

I love the bass sound and bass line, wow what whatchamacallit gave you that sound Wookie?

Thanks for the phone ideas, folks!

Automation Envelope Cursor in Sonar vs. CbB

Replying to follow and hear responses from Noel et al, I have the same problem. Timbo -
Wow, thanks folks! I didn't expect to get much of a response and with the added bonus of Noel chiming in on a non-support thread, I'm very pleased indeed. Timbo

Thanks Bass Guitar, Let me look into that interface, I had never heard of it. Timbo

Hi all, When it comes to being creative, I feel restricted by my studio. I often come up with ideas elsewhere in our home (like the back deck, the bunkie, the garage) and have been dreaming about a "portable" setup that I could use to get these ideas out of my head and onto paper, so to speak. I carry a small recording device that helps me to record lyrics and melodies, and it is useful when I'm out on a hike in the woods, but now that I'm retired and have the financial means to do something on a less than $5K scale I'd like to put together something a little more substantial. Please remember that the idea behind this is to get my ideas down wherever I am on our property (or just to practice) and not to mix or record entire songs. I'm thinking about a laptop with Sonar and virtual effects and instruments installed and a crappy MIDI keyboard that I already have. But then I'd need 1) an audio interface that handles the MIDI and a mic to get the data in and out of the laptop, 2) some form of portable speakers to take the place of studio monitors and 3) a mic, and I think I could use my SM58. Have any of you folks done something like this? Can anyone else think of anything I would need? And also a gut check, do you think I'm dreaming - can this portable idea not going to work the way I hope? Thanks for your thoughts, Timbo
-
Besides the quiet fans, is there a particular audio interface that would be best to use with a laptop? Timbo

I'm interested in this as well, unfortunately I have to reply to be able to follow the topic. Timbo

Thanks for this Starship Krupa, I hadn't heard of such therapy, I'm going to have to find some tools to do what you've done. Timbo
