Dare, really; who are you debating? I'm sorry that you are experiencing so many "rare and highly specific showstopper" problems. I'm assuming that you are able to reproduce those problems, describe them in detail in your bug reports, and hopefully can send dump files are even example projects to the support folks. If not, support staff will probably have problems understanding and fixing the bugs you are seeing. My problem is that I've been a on-again, off-again SONAR and now CbB user for 15 years and somehow I've always been able to use the SONAR/CbB to record and mix audio. I suppose I did experience "showstoppers" from time to time, but they must of been rare, because I don't remember any of them. So I'm wondering if the problems you're seeing are more related to your DAW hardware, other applications and Windows 10 64x configuration than they are to CbB. Since, you are apparently unable to accomplish anything worthwhile, maybe now would be a good time to clean up, all of your resource/project harddrives, and clean install Windows 10 Creator Edition and CbB along with any other applications on your DAW.

Anyone using Microsoft's OneDrive for DAW files? To me it looks like a good option because I have a Microsoft Office 365 subscription which includes 1TB OneDrive space for each of six users. I'm assuming that I can have access to all 6TBs which I think is plenty for my DAW and personal files. My plan is to put all documents and resource/install files on OneDrive and mirrored in a local OneDrive folder. I'll keep project files on a local drive and manually drag them to a backup OneDrive folder that isn't mirrored on a local OneDrive folder. Does this seem like a reasonable plan?

Audio FX Chains [ SOLVED :-) ]
Bill Phillips replied to User 905133's topic in Instruments & Effects
Where can I find the scook very handy VST Inventory program? Thanks. -
That appears to have worked. Thanks scook.
-
Bingo! Thanks scook. NIMBUS was not in the VST3 excluded list. So I tried the VST3 Reset from preferences with "Scan in Sandbox" and "Generate Scan Log" enabled. NIMBUS VST3 is now available. I did get "Wrong computer id" notifications for Additive Keys and Drums during the Reset scan that I will review, but I think Additive Keys and Drums are working fine. Thanks again! No regedits required. Yea!

Thanks Blindeddie. I tried running as Admin and rescanning. It didn't help this time.
-
I use the License Manager. Here's a screenshot showing NIMBUS authorization as active. the VST2 version works, but I prefer using VST3. I've already tried uninstalling and re-installing NIMBUS. That didn't help. I just did a rescan which also didn't help. Thanks.
-
It didn't. Interested in your other suggestions. Thanks.
-
Thanks. Just tried that running CbB as Administrator and rescanning VSTS. NIMBUS VST3 still missing from browser and Plugin Manager and track FX bin Insert audio plugins dropdown. Izotope says they can't help.

I just installed a reverb plugin NIMBUS along with another reverb plugin R4. The R4 VST3 shows up in the browser, plugin manager and in track FX dropdowns but NIMBUS does not. See browser, plugin manager screenshots. I've also included a VST3 Folder screenshot showing that NIMBUS VST3 is available. The browser screenshot shows search results for NIMBUS which only turned up the VST2 version under uncharacterized. I've uninstalled and reinstalled NIMBUS, restarted CbB several times and restarted my PC. Any suggestions on how to fix this appreciated.

Available drivers vary based on your hardware & firmware. In the notes for the 4.63.24.564 driver I think it listed the 1st & 2nd gen devices that can use it.
-
For me yes. No doubt. I don't have numbers anymore. But I saw a huge performance improvement and latency drops when I switched from 1st gen drivers to 3rd gen drivers. Speculating, I have a pretty capable computer and a graphics card with capacity to handle the load generated by plugins that will use the graphic processor to reduce CPU load. I guess it's possible that not everyone would see the performance improvements I saw. But I'm speculating.
-
I have a 1st gen 18i8. I usually install the latest driver listed on My Hardware Focusrite page and don't have any significant problems. I have the latest version 4.63.24 installed and seems to have fixed the bug with changing buffer size while CbB is open. Both the latest and the previous version work fine and I found work arounds for adjusting buffer size in the previous version. I'm tickled and am impressed with the performance especially when compared with the original 1st gen drivers.

How can I set clip colors for Take Lanes? Any suggestions or clarification appreciated I like to set clip colors to match track colors because it seems to help me navigate. However, when I have multiple takes that process seems to fall apart. In this screenshot, I think that T3 was selected when I assigned the color to track 1. So the clip for that take is the same as the track color. However, I can't seem to change the clip color for T4. Notice that I've set the T4 Foreground color to match the track color in the clip inspector but that didn't change the clip color. What am I missing? Also, I really don't like the low contrast light gray default color for take clips. Is there some way to change that? My theme is Tungsten. I didn't see take lane color options under preferences.

Time Ruler Selection w/ 60, 30, & 15 sec cut-downs
Bill Phillips replied to Paul Montgomery's topic in Cakewalk by BandLab
On the Time Ruler at the top of the Track View, click the (+) on the right end and add the Millisecond Ruler which shows Hours, Minutes, Seconds and Milliseconds. Use that ruler to select the exact number of seconds you want. You can also choose Snap to Grid resolution in seconds to make it easier to select the exact number of seconds you want. -
How do I specify the Meter at the start of a project? I use the project shown in this screenshot https://1drv.ms/u/s!Ag9MrIdQMNIZoQSkFNpfPX2WuOGB?e=uF1VsC to provide a metronome for piano practice. So I frequently change the metronome Meter to match the song I'm practicing, but as shown by the error dialog in the screenshot at the link, CbB doesn't allow me to do that . Why not? This project has only the one track which contains no clips.

Ok, I've figured this out. So, I'm answering my own question. Here are the answers: In short the Reference Guide is great! I read the section on exporting again and found that you need to de-select all tracks and clips for the Project export option to work. I didn't really find an answer here, but it no longer matters to me. Since I don't know how it works, I won't use the Export>Audio option. Instead I found that the presets listed in the Export module are the same ones that appear in the Advanced dialog. So by choosing Advanced and then selecting a preset you'll be able to see exactly what's included export presets are used in the Export module. But that still doesn't define what happens when the Audio options are used.
-
Now that there's a Export Module on the Control Bar I use it but I have some questions that I haven't been able to find answers for: What's the difference between the Project and Selection buttons? I leave the Project button ticked because that's about all I export. But I still have to select all tracks to export the entire project. Only selected tracks are included in the mix even with the Project button ticked. For the Export Audio options, which dithering option is used? I always use use Pow-r 3, but don't know which option is selected when I skip the Advanced choice. So I use Advanced.

New DAW build: Recommend a Quiet Case
Bill Phillips replied to Craig Allen's topic in Cakewalk by BandLab
Me too! Nice quiet case. Lots of fan locations and easy to route cables out of sight. Really like being able to mount two SSDs on back side of MB plate.- 13 replies

No responses. So I guess not.
