fair enough, but "fine tuning spam detection" lol is bullshit, and for an online company to not be able (or unwilling to bother) to prevent/block spam is a big red flag - imagine using the bandlab social media functionality, what data is being lost there? this is the only forum/website i see this amount of spam, and websites are my work for the last 25 plus years, it's really sad to me (not including the almost as long time i've used cakewalk/sonar products) weep weep etc
/fwiwandasyouwere
I'm not sure what you're talking about whether it's bandlab or the forum. I don't use bandlab except to access cakewalk, but I've been an on again off again cakewalk forum user since SONAR 4. I don't recall a spam problem ever.
I've been inactive for the last couple of years but I still subscribe to and read the forum emails. That's how saw your rant.
I also never thought of this forum as being anything other than a way for users to support each other. I dont think of the forum as being part of a "online company" or having "social media functionality." I think of it as a support tool provided, maintained and managed (with the help of volunteer modirators) by cakewalk for cakewalk users.
Maybe I'm wrong, but I hope not.

Copilot+ PC
in Q&A
I'm unfamiliar with Copilot+ PCs, but just read an article proclaiming them (laptop versions) to be "best of breed ... outperforming anything else even Apple's MacBook" which got my attention. My first question is, really? Followed by, could these laptops be used for recording and mixing?
Is anyone using one.

Would just turning PC Off solve your problem?

And @Starship Krupa infrequently.

Looks like just you and me .🤫

Does anyone else use the Production Expert website for recording and mixing advice? I do and received an email from them asking me to tell my friends about the site.
I subscribe to there email list and receive more or less daily emails with each addressing a single topic. On Saturdays, they feature a free plugin that, unless they are repeats, I often haven't seen elsewhere. Some of the plugin offers may be exclusive to Production Expert.
Became all the "experts" use Protools, DAW specific emails are almost always about Protools. But most address common recording and mixing techniques and issues, or specific plugins which I find useful to me.

I use OD without issues but not for active Cakewalk project files. I also disabled OD backup of the Documents folder to protect plugin configuration files.
Disabling OD backup of the Documents folder is a little tricky because OD really really wants to backup the Documents folder.
I don't use Documents folder at all and I don't use a My Documents folder either because earlier MS versions used My Documents instead of Documents as the default documents folder and, in my case, OD has decided to backup that folder. My documents folder name is bills_docs.
As stated above, many plugins use the Documents folder to store configuration variables. I have a lot of plugins so I have a large Documents folder.
Cakewalk may also store some configuration variables in the Documents folder. I'm not able to check now.
If OD was accessing and backing up the plugin and DAW files that live in the Documents folder, it could (and probably would) cause pops, clicks, dropouts, audio engine stops, and crashes.

Btw, I'm no computer wiz so I'm hoping there's a relatively straight forward(easy ?) method. Thanks!
If you have any of lZotope's mixing plugins or bundles, audiolens will capture the frequency profile of sections of audio from almost anywhere. I think you'll need one of iZotope's "mothership" products (Neutron, Nectar, Ozone, etc) to use it.
Each of the mothtrships is a pretty sophisticated mixer channel. On the downside, they aren't cheap and they consume a lot of processing power. Also having significant OpenGL capacity in your GPU will probably improve performance.

they're going to introduce some radical RISC set chips to take on Apple... ?
That seems like a circle. I was a big DEC alpha fan. Even after Intel et al drove DEC out of business, I recall Compaq selling alphas for high end processor intensive applications for years after the last version became available. Seem to recall there was a single-bit alpha version that was really quick. Maybe computing would be better off today if DEC had survived.?

I'm not at my daw. So I can't verify this. But add a milliseconds ruler to the time line if it's not already there. The place a marker at the desired location (end/middle/start/etc) of the first clip. Then move the now time marker to desired location of the second sound. The distance between the two sounds is the difference between the now time marker and the placed marker.
Hope this helps. It's way easier to do than describe.

My conclusion is that Motu is a Mac oriented company and they don't spend any time developing their audio drivers and Software for Windows.
That was the case for me with my achent firewire 828 mkll. MAC drivers were updated more frequently and much longer than those for Windows.

I often record audio from YouTube and other internet sources. I use either the analog, wifi or spdif Realtek stereo audio outputs to my monitor controller aux input. I then patch that to an stereo input on my analog audio interface and record that.
My audio interface doesn't support loopback. So I think routing thru the monitor controller is necessary to avoid feedback.

What's the "mix recall trick? "

Since several people (including me) have been looking for the Dimension Pro manual in a format that's more accessible than the help file, I converted that file to a PDF. Hope this is useful to someone out there.
It's gone. Did you delete it?

and esp if you don't have A/V exceptions for the CW (and any related apps and folder) as the latest MS defender is not only trying to "cloud protect" you but also then uploading to the Internet while scanning all kinds of possible "signatures" which eat the disk IO alive. by adding exceptions to CW, Melodyne, and other apps and tools, even with the network on, my load times are very fast - 2 second for CW to load and about 5-10 seconds for most projects (unless i have a lot of Kontakt instruments to load, then 20-30 seconds for 5-8 instruments and about 6gb of their content).
Where do you put these exceptions?

Think about why they made it free for a few years. I find Cakewalk is now on more lists of supported and tested DAWs with plug in vendors.
Me too.

Your SDD drive can absolutely cause this issue. Just last winter I started having problems and a new drive completely solved it.
I use Samsung SSD drives and they have a app called the Magician. You can run that to analyze.
But best of all it will clone any drive including you OS drive and you just swap it out and carry on. Took 20 minutes. I bought two 500 GB drives at $50 each and it was like getting a new computer.
The drives start to slow down after so many read/ write cycles and recording will do that.
The other thing comes to mind is there’s always a big chance of a plug in causing you grief and looking at meters might not clue you in. I can’t use Isotope stuff at all as example.
All you can do is remove them one by one until you find the culprit.
And one last item is to make sure your system is optimized by running this https://www.resplendence.com/latencymonThank you! All drives in my new DAW are Samsung. I've been using 3rd party cloning software when I need it which isn't often but now I can use Magician which also has a lot of testing and troubleshooting features. I opened it up and learned that my 3 new M.2 PCIe drives needed firmware updates which I did all at once and very quickly. Thanks again.

Hi guys. I have two identical Samsung A32 phones. In one of the phones this forum is now in super small print/full page view like it would be in desktop view but it's not. In the other phone, the forum is in normal, large print. Other websites work fine on both phones so I don't think it's a phone setting. Any clues guys on how to fix this? Thanks!
I often ave this same problem using either Chrome or Firefox on my S20 FE, but not always. I assumed it was a problem with the display setup in the email itself. Next time I see it, which will be soon, I'm going to look for email and browser settings that might be causing the problem.

For this reason I just use the Arranger track now. You can use it to show lyrics and chords. And the arranger track has multiple lanes too.
This looks like the solution to so many of the thing people are trying to accomplish with markers and much more. I haven't learned to use it yet, but I'm hoping to as soon as my DAW is back in operation.

i keep the licenses on my ilok and waves thumb drives, then use the installers to install the plugins (as expected) but use freefile sync to keep the plugin folders, settings / presets, and content sync'd to the cloud and then sync from cloud to devices (laptop and desktop machines). whichever machine is the "current one" where i may have installed updates or new presets, overwrites the cloud set and then the switchover is simply move the USB keys and hit the sync, and after a few minutes (most times) it's all done. application updates occur via the vendor plugin managers as normal.
the nice thing about the keys and cloud - if i'm doing something with my friends setup, i can quickly load the plugins, load the presets and content, and activate and get to work. although most times i'll just bring my laptop and drives. ?
Thanks. I just downloaded FreeFileSync. The granularity and ability to control sync direction sold me.

I'm wondering what you mean by high quality. Waves tech support told me I could use any USB drive and that even the smallest one would have much more capacity than I need for my < 30 plugins. So I plan to use one of the SanDisk 8GB drives I use for clean installing Windows.

If your DAW can't handle playing the full project back without clicks, pops and dropouts, you can freeze all tracks to reduce the processing load before playing back the project. Maybe that's what Reaper is calling a dry run.

Can you Render the whole project without exporting it to a file in Cakewalk?
That's not possible. In the context of a DAW, to render is to export. A dry run would be playing the final mix without exporting. Most, if not all, DAWs support that.
If you're worried about bit reduction artifacts plugins like iZotope's Ozone have that capability.

Thanks @57Gregy. That explains why I'd never noticed them. The whole fracas is much ado about nothing.
Also, looks like @Wookee et al do as well as can be expected in responding to, tagging and removing spam.
