  1. I hear you. I need to do that with my external midi instruments too!
  2. Oh my. Hopefully, someone has an answer. This reminds me to type in the instrument name in the proper track and with enough specificity so I know what sample library and perhaps what preset.
  3. Yes to above. I have the Sony Noise Reduction 2.0 which is very good. I believe it is in the latest Magix Sound Forge Professional version which is $149 along with iZ's RX Elements, etc. https://www.magix.com/us/sem/sound-forge-pro/
  4. I have found for removing hiss is that it helps to have a sample of this hiss itself that is the the same hiss that is in the song. For instance, maybe the same hiss is just before the song starts or at the end. (Ha - after writing this, I see that Craig basically said this above.) Then I have found some luck with sound forge or Magix noise reduction. Though I have also found out that sometimes trying to remove all the hiss still affects too much of the other audio. So, sometimes a lot can be removed, but not all of it. But I have to say that my experience is fairly limited to sound forge and Magix noise reduction. As to the hum, you may be lucky to be able to remove it with eq. I also like the comment above about getting into the original tracks and mixing again. (And as Craig pointed out below, if you can get access to the tracks.) If it is a particular track or even couple of tracks, it is a lot easier to fix them than to work on the entire mix. Though obviously this requires mixing again. That is where I would start if at all possible. Of course, this assume that the hiss or hum was not introduced by some equipment in the mixdown (if it was mixed out of the box, for instance), in which case mixing again and finding the culprit equipment used in mixing out of the box, would be important. You also asked how to add new plugins. Perhaps someone can direct you to part of the cakewalk manual for that. You can do a search of this forum, or even a google search, and there are quite a few tutorials/posts on this.
  5. So glad to hear this. I have been following Noel for a long time. And Noel is the best that I have seen on quite a few forums. Always helpful and always a class act. I hope, Michael, that you really enjoy Cakewalk now!
  6. You are welcome! To be clear, for me, the use of the time stretch in the video editor had nothing to do with video. It just so happened to be a great audio tool bundled in the Video Vegas program, presumably from the connection of the company with Video Vegas and Sound Forge.
  7. I do not know if anyone tried this, but the time stretcher that comes with the Video Vegas is very good. Sometimes I have used that for adjusting the timing (mainly to increase or decrease tempo.) As to changing the pitch, I defer to others above. So, if one has Video Vegas loaded, the time stretcher sofware shows up as an option in Cakewalk! addendum: the Video Vegas time stretcher may be the same as in Sound Forge, which is noted above.
  8. I actually had to use Master Tracks Pro quite a bit recently to convert some of my old Master Track Pro midi files (mts) to more standard midi files (mid). Fortunately, actually I started using Cakewalk (mid 90s), every Cakewalk file I have ever done, including bundles, still opens in Cakewalk by Bandlab. We should all be grateful to Meng Ru Kuok.
  9. The present and future of Cakewalk is solid! Cakewalk has shown itself to be very resilient and in a wonderful status now with Bandlab. And Noel is one of the best representatives a company can have on a forum with a long track record of great customer service! By the way, my post above about "any update on the update" was sort of tongue in cheek as indicated by the smilees.
  10. Any update on the update?
  11. Maybe Noel will provide an ETA on the next update. I do not want to rush him or anyone on this, as it is more important that it be a great update!
  12. Excited about another update!
  13. For some reason mine did not save my changes to the control bar but it did when I clicked on saving the workspace. Not sure why. Thanks!
  14. I see where it is called the control bar. That would have been a better term for the title of this thread. But it is part of the workspace when it comes to "saving" the workspace. So I think it is part of the workspace at least when it comes to saving it. Is there a separate "save" for the control bar?
  15. Addendum: Solved! If one right clicks on one of the choices of the custom module (mine has 9 blocks), then there is a choice for "command" options, and way, way, way down that list is "split clips!" Thanks! Prior post: Thank you for writing. The workspace is the place on top normally, with all the modules that you want to show. There is a "custom" module that allows certain things to be clicked on quickly - it is editable as to which items, but I do not think "split" is one of the items, unless I am missing something. I use the custom module with the mouse, as I do most of my work with a mouse as opposed to the keyboard. Your link refers to this custom module - but I am not seeing the option for "split" to be one of the nine options there.
  16. Hi everyone: I like being able to put copy, paste and the like in the favorites, so to speak, in the workspace. But is there a way to do this with "split" clips? Now I right click on the clip and find split clips. It would save one step if it can be put in the workspace. (Maybe it is there, and I missed it!) Thanks!
  17. While that is a great suggestion, it does not help me with old projects (even ten years ago or more) that I open up. Can the workspace be saved for them?
  18. Hi everyone: Anyone know the highest quality pitch shifting setting in Cakewalk? For voices, violin and guitar. I need to transpose these tracks down 3 steps. (From Dm to Bm) I do not care if it takes a long time to process as accuracy is more important! Also, is there a better one that I should acquire as a plugin? Thanks in advance!
  19. Yes for Windows 10. 11 is a pain and unfortunately is on a couple of my laptops (not my Cakewalk desktop). Even the menus in 11 are bad and a pain. Anyway, I too was a big fan of 8.5.3 for the ergonomics, the look and the like. But you can customize the latest Cakewalk by Bandlab - and even get use to it - and even love it! It does not take as long as one would think. I am not a keyboard shortcut person for some reason, but I have designed what I like for the quick icons - like putting cut paste into them. And I have changed the default color scheme.
  20. Yes. Maybe the wavetable synth can have the box with the tick available with a warning that it might cause incompatibility issues.
  21. I ticked on the MS wavetable synth in midi out and sure enough it disengaged outputs 1 & 2 in my DAW. But simple fix, I unticked it again, and it works. What probably happened is when I updated to the latest version of Cakewalk, MS wavetable synth must have been engaged again by default. At least I think this is what it is about. Fortunately, I could care less about MS wavetable synth. I plan to report this to Lynx so they can see about updating their driver. Though I am running Windows 10 and maybe Windows 11 does not have this issue. Thank you.
  22. Noel - I also turned off the MS Wavetable device. Could that have been the conflict? Other than that, I can only figure that somehow some other device was running the background, and by some miracle it got removed. P.S. I love Cakewalk after 20 plus years! Thank for all you do!
  23. After trying many options, I deleted windows audio as a startup option, and 1&2 did work on my Lynx output. But then my motu midi device would not show up. So I restored the windows audio as a startup app. Now it all works. Have no idea why but I am not complaining! ":) This all may be a fluke!
  24. Thank you Hook. Sadly, I have tried all that. I suspect it has something to do with Windows making the channels unavailable for Cakewalk.
