  1. Hi Craig, I had it working a couple of times, other times, without changing a thing, it didn't work. But when it did, it did not track well for me. I was only playing bass lines, simple ones-to learn the app. I used a pick so notes would be clearer. Just doesn't track well here anyway. Maybe it's me? I only have the free trail and the constant interruption where you have to click Buy or Continue may be a part of the issue. Pretty bad demo imho. I tried mono, poly, etc, etc. Even though I own Melodyne 4 Editor full version, I am not familiar with it. I bought it on a whim way back when and just kept upgrading, figuring one day I would use it. Thanks for the input
  2. Hey Scook...........DUH....Found it all, seriously tired. I will start fresh tomorrow-looks very promising
  3. Guess I have some reading to do. I cannot get the menu to enable midi output with the midi guitar 2 vst. Also as far as the VSt, its not really a free trial, well it is but severely limited -interrupts you very quickly with the buy now window or continue. Pain really. I'll keep looking. Scook I know where enable midi output is in the properties window of the vsts, but I don't have that window. Dumb, I know.
  4. So it looks cool and is certainly inexpensive, especially since it's polyphonic. Guess I need to read the docs becaus I want to record the midi IN CW, not import it or anything. Thanks as always Scook EDIT: So, I downloaded the free trail and it installs as a stand alone app & a x64 VST-That's great!
  5. So, I don't have or want a bass guitar, but would like to use my electric guitars to record midi bass lines, later to be rendered to audio. I have a midi controller\keyboard ( which I have always used for midi bass and drums) but I do so much better , being a guitar player, using my guitar to record the bass lines. With the guitar I can really nail the nuances, timing, etc, etc and of course it doesn't sound mechanical because it isn't. I know I can just use audio but then I don't have as much freedom with VSTS for playback. Is their such a thing as an "inexpensive option"? BTW I should add I do own Melodyne Editor 4 full. I did notice Reaper has this thing called REATUNE which does exactly what I am talking about, supposedly, pretty easily? Thanks
  6. Thanks John - you posted this as I was typing above--------Appreciate it!
  7. So, theoretically, if I open a new project and select View synthrack and then select "apply workspace on project load" for each project I open or start that should work, correct? Also, none stays checked when I do this. Doesn't work so I guess I need to read about workspaces. Maybe create a NEW workspace and call it synthrack view? So I did delete (manage workspaces) my old lense....
  8. Yes it is ticked. I had a "similar" issue a few months ago and it had to do with a Lense (it was called lense when I created it) that was generic except for having the synth rack enabled and showing always. It is still in the list, so maybe that is the issue or part of it. Perhaps I it loaded the project with my old lense. Can I delete it from the list? The issue last time was similar-could NOT control dragging track height up or down with the mouse and synth rack disappears? mind boggling really. For me anyway.
  9. EDIT: I know how, well, ridiculous this sounds. It does ONLY happen when I attempt to drag a track to adjust it's height. Just sayin, this is the "trigger" so to speak. OK, title sounds weird, I know. Here is the issue. I have none checked in lenses and I want it to stay there. The checkbox stays there but Workspace fills the dialog box in Lens. I know it's a workspace, but it also changes what I am doing\seeing\etc. WHY? Dragging a track down top make it taller(yes I use the mouse) it just jumps to a unmanageable size(tall), like /2 the screen. Seems to take over the visual aspects of CW-like it has a min of it's own. EDIT: It seems to be triggered by some action I do but I am doing the same things the same way I have for many decades with cakewalk! I cannot pin point it but it sure is annoying. I wish I could delete (disable) the lense option but checking none does not seem to work. Immediately jumps to workspace, synth rack disappears, etc, etc? Hopefully someone will understand what I mean. When I drag a track down a bit I want it to stay where I put it. It doesn't. That is only 1 example of many "weird things. It also immediately hides my synth rack view which I LIKE open. frustrating. Thanks
  10. I agree with Rico, Why? I was weary at fist because of the PCI bridge I needed. Once I got it secure, zero issues. I do have a Roland Octa Capture that just sits in the box. I thought many times, better upgrade. But always found myself thinking, Why? I have no issues , why fix what isn't broken. Lots of ins\outs, SPDIF, etc.
  11. No issues here using Echo Layla 3G and Win 10x64. My machine has no PCI slots so I had to use an adapter for PCI Express and all is well. Got great info and advice on the bridge from Colin. BTW, I am at the LATEST win 10 build......
  12. EDIT: OK so I guess it's just too dumb a question......... Here I will show my lack of knowledge, but I don't mind. Never noticed that in the Console for the Echo Layla 3G, which I have had for many, many years is set like this: Core Sample Rate 48khz. This is user changeable. Above it is Sample Rate and it is 41.1khz which is locked I guess due to my recording preferences? I record, forever, at 44.1\24 as far back as Cakewalk 8 iirc. Don't have any issues (NOW) but I am wondering why this is so. I do use Fractal Audio guitar gear (which is locked at 48khz) but I use the analog outs, so sample rate is irrelevant. The manual tells me nothing. I am wondering if this detrimental and all along I never knew? I do have a Roland Octa-capture sitting in a closet? Can anyone, well I am sure you guys can tell me why this is? Thanks
  13. Well David, you nailed my issue. It was the levels on the Echo Layla 3G. But I don't usually keep the windows interface for the Echo open , but I must have or I have a ghost.. So not sure what happen, but the levels for the main outs on the Echo were ridiculously low. Another mystery. Thanks so much David!
  14. OK. I'll see what I can track down today. Was pretty tired last night when this happened. Will check suggestions.............I will report back.
  15. First, let me say this may be hardware but wanted to ask here if this sounds familiar to anyone. So I was working on a project. some midi and some audio. All was fine for an hour. Then when I loaded another project I noticed the volume had dropped hugely. Tried other projects, some all midi, some all audio. Same thing. Meanwhile mic and my Strat were super loud as always. I was wondering if an audio interface could die like that? I have studio monitors, good ones , but also 2 yamaha DXR10's with separate volume controls in the mixer. I thought maybe I hit some weird key combo and did something to CWbyBL. Is that possible? Of course the volume drop is everything going thru the Echo Layla 3G. Just was wondering if any of this sounds familiar. Very strange . Playing straight audio thru the mixer and speakers (which includes the Echo) is really loud and normal. To do this I have to select the Echo outputs (win 10). So it is extremely confusing. The only MAJOR sound loss is using CW???? I will try my Octacapture tomorrow morning, too much time for tonight. But wave\mp3 files play fine thru the system using the Echo? I did NOT change any prefs either. So that is why I am grasping at some keyboard shortcut I hit or something. I know, weird post.................I'll post back tomorrow after I try the roland Audio interface Thanks EDIT: I downloaded a midi player app and played some midi only files from my projects. They played fine and very loud. MP3 files play fine and very loud. Only CWbyBL has this issue...as fr as I can tell anyway.....................
  16. Latency really isn't an issue for me because I monitor thru a mixer. Only my vocals and all guitars are audio, rest are VSTS. Midi is big for me, as mentioned already.Since no one seems to have the Presonus 2626 I think this weekend I will do the wise thing and give my Octacapture a a good run thru. Mine is used only in the sense that I bought it. Only use was to make sure it worked. Otherwise it sat in the box in my A\C studio at home. The Echo Layla 3G works fine with the PCI e adapter but I want the slot back for other reasons. The octacapture is certainly much more flexible than the Echo. Both drivers are somewhat old though. But both work fine with Win 10. Echo says use their W8.1 drivers and Roland has Win 10 drivers.
  17. I also have set up the alert from Sweetwater. But today I will try out my Roland Octacapture just to see how it performs.................... I have decided that I definitely want the Layla 3G out of the picture.
  18. I am really liking what aI read about the PreSonus Quantum 2626 26x26 Thunderbolt 3 Audio Interface.$599 is a in my arena. Jim R. had nie things to say about it also. I have goten use to the rackmount Echo lalyla 3G form. Fits nicely in with warm audio Mic pre. Also like this Gigabyte GC-Titan Ridge (Titan Ridge Thunderbolt 3 PCIe Card Component) $98. or $59 for a lesser Gigabyte model. Not available yet at Sweetwater where I can buy with nio interest, Hmmm!
  19. Thanks Alan and Bob - appreciate the input. I do us an M.2 2280 NVME drive for samples-super fast. Part of the reason I posted this was to see about freeing up the other m.2 slot. I need to get rid of the pci E adapter card for the echo Layla 3G PCI card to do that. Hence my inquiry's. The audient line I looked at did NOT have midi. I need midi big time. I know there are ways around this. I have a multitude of Midi devices, boxes, adapters, etc, etc. I should probably sell 3/4's of them. But I like everything all in one. I am not a well off person so I probablty should give the Roland Octacapture a shot for real. Never really did, Bought it as a backup.
  20. Hello Robert, Ausu says my MB is TB3 ready with 5 pin connector. Asus Prime Z370-A
  21. I have a newer MB Asus Prime Z-370 A with a couple of C slots. My PC build is new-I always build my own. I opted for the 8 gen 8700, works great for my needs. Geforce 1060 8GB, 32gb corsair ram, etc, etc, M.2 NVME for samples and Samsung SSD 850 for OS. Audio I still use reg HD, but newest specs-SATA6?? I am thinking about a thunderbolt 3 add on, MB is setup for it. Thanks
  22. Thanks. I do have an adapter card. Just wondering because the Echo drivers are certainly not updated.
  23. I have used Asus MB's for decades. Presently, Z-370 Prime A. As far as Wifi, just turn it off in the MB setup-simple. Asus is my go to for MB's. just my opinion of course.
