Question : is there a switch or option to turn the timing grid activation off as a default ? I find that I need to turn that option to inactive before doing any editing consistently as I don't use any quantize or active grid settings in my work- though once it is set initially it holds the off setting for every instance there after during the session. I went to look for and join the Celemony Melodyne forum - seems as though their forum has been closed ? I guess each individual DAW forum is hopefully open to host melodyne questions specific to integration to the host? Seems goofy - but ok.

Maybe a potential update on the horizon ?

The Pro channel modules are very effective and cover basic channel strip functions quite well. I just finished a 50 track mix and used probably 80% pro channels modules on the tracks. I have a UAD system as well and used a few specialty plugs on busses mostly. If there are other characteristics from third party plugs that sound good or make workflow easier then it's worth getting extra plugs - especially if you can get them on sale. I find that the Gliss EQ and PC-76U compressors works for about 90% of all track strip requirements. I add the tube saturator on bass quite a bit. For what it's worth - I have over 700 plugs and most are used as specialty charactor plugs unless there is something I just can't get out of Pro-Channel.

Here is a quote from a previous thread. I was able to retrieve them. VX-64 Vocal Strip, which is a "swiss army knife" multi-processor oriented toward vocals that includes a de-esser, a doubler, a compressor/expander, a tube eq with saturation, a delay (with filter), and tube saturation on the input and output stages. The 5 modules can be routed in any order. Obviously these tools may be used on many sounds other than vocals. This is a very useful plug-in. PX-64 Percussion Strip, a similar format multi-processor aimed at processing percussion tracks that includes a transient shaper, a compressor/expander, eq with "vintage" and "classic" modes, delay (with filter), and tube saturation on the input and output stages. The modules may be routed in any order. Noting the similar complement of modules to the VX-64, I assume that each is more tuned to the specific application, percussion or vocals. Again, there is tube saturation emulation on the inputs and outputs. TL-64 Tube Leveler, a tube saturation and compression emulator. For when digital seems too clinical. Season to taste. Boost 11, a peak limiter/volume maximizer with a nice display of the waveforms before and after processing. To be able to use them in Cakewalk, from the main menu, select Utilities/Cakewalk Plug-In Manager. Once Plug-In Manager is running, select VST Audio Effects (VST) under Plug-In Categories on the left side. This will give you a list, in the middle pane, of enabled VST2 plug-ins. That's fine, but we are not interested in that for now. Down below, under Manage Exclusion List, click the button next to Show Excluded. This will change the list to show excluded VST2 plug-ins. Look for the names of the 4 plug-ins. Once you have found them, click on each one and click on the button labeled Enable Plug-In. The names will disappear from the Excluded list. Exit from Plug-In Manager and you should now be able to use all 4 VST effects in your projects. Note: for whatever reason, I have sometimes found these plug-ins back on the Excluded list after an update to Cakewalk. If this happens, just repeat the process and you will be fine.

Check the UAD forum as well. I had a major fault ( as in - I'm sending my Apollo Firewire to UAD tomorrow for diagnostics and possible repair ) when I updated to their latest console software. It may be that the latest install also updated the firmware and dis-conbobulated the firewire connection. My issue is complete lack of firewire connection. But, I did read about some other issues related to random switching sample rates. As for the presonus on firewire - did you need to switch to legacy 1394 driver using it? I tried using an older presonus and couldn't get it working and had to use my old Roland FA-66 temporarily on a legacy windows 1394 driver. Unfortunately I'm in the middle of 50 + audio track mix. not the greatest timing.

"What am I missing?" A processor ? Everything sounds pretty incredible - 64 gb going to 128 gb memory ? I can't really fathom that, I've never pushed my 12 gb over the hill. Sounds like you could run a good sized orchestral rig with lots of bells and whistles. What kind of music ?

The compander looks really useful, and efficient. So, would one use be to set the levels then bounce to clip to effect the track velocities? then remove? - or is the idea to keep this in an effects bin and treat it as a real time plug only?

Craig, I hate say this - but I'm so glad you had a Blue Screen.... only because I had one as well after one of the updates.... and I thought it was ALL MY FAULT. A restore point saved my butt as well. Today another update tug and I pretty much ignored it. I'm still on a win 7 system though. The new Celemony download for 4.2.3 and all is well.

There is a desperate need for Haiku treatment facilities round here.

Revoice Pro and VocALign Project giveaway for CbB users
RBH replied to Noel Borthwick's topic in Cakewalk by BandLab
No Facebook for me, gladly. -
Christian, I have CoreBass pear as well, I never noticed the clicking you're talking about, but I will check into it again. It could be that my Spidey sences aren't as finely tuned. There may be a non default Kontakt pre read setting that needs to be tweaked - if I notice the same key switch issues, I'll look into that as well. Orange Tree seems to be pretty responsive to inquiries - so it might worth a mention and see if they have any recomendations.

Could those be volume controller information? It looks like you are in clip mode in the track view. If I recall - the track view can show volume controller info.

Projects opening with *asterisk as if edits were made?
RBH replied to Christian Jones's topic in Cakewalk by BandLab
I think that previous thread mentioned it could be a modulation or delay with in a synth that is sending midi info. That midi output is controlled with in the plug -in. -
Chicago-ish area. or - the region.

I also have the LSR 308's and I like them even better as time goes by. I looked at the Amazon add -Is that price is for a single speaker - and not sold by the pair correct? Still a good deal for sure.

Amazing Noel - These videos are an incredibly efficient way to show the updates. How about creating these as locked sticky at the top of the forum.

Syncronize horizontal zoom - Track view to Piano Roll view
RBH replied to RBH's topic in Feedback Loop
I do inline piano roll editing quite a bit. I think it's one of the finer things in sonar and I believe it was implemented way back in Sonar 5, unfortunately you can't insert a note in the same way as in PRV into the inline view - you can however copy notes. This works ok for drum editing when inserting a few notes here and there - but for chord editing or insertion it doesn't pay to work on the inline view. The Piano Roll View editing is incredibly powerful in CbB - I think it really puts it in a class by itself - multy track viewing and quick jumping between tracks is amazing in Cake. Maybe I'm missing something when editing inline? Also - I never work with a grid - so I guess I don't take advantage of the efficiencies of some of the snap operations. I work strictly with real time midi. I can imagine that the graphics overhead might not make it practical. -
I wish I could buy these....... I attempted to do an update to V 9.9 about a month ago from v 8.6 and it killed my Apollo firewire. Killed it as in DEAD. My quad card still works great but the firewire is toast for the time being. I think the Firmware update with that version did something un -recoverable. I'd been working with CS on it and they've left me with the only option sending it in for diagnosis / reset /repair. It worked literally without a flaw for over 6 years. I'm about to pull the trigger on an RMA return, but I have no guarantee that it will work or won't just do the same again with an update attempt. Anyone ever just try to skip a firmware update and go straight to software update? I'm back to using a very old Edirol FA-66 until I find a fix.

That's how I feel about Ukuleles. It could be just the spelling though. VERY scary.

I believe the midi spec only allows a specific range of control..... how that effects the specific sound is up to how it's interpreted by the sound module and designed by the developer. Certain samples for example can only be tranposed so much until it sounds completely un-natural. Synths on the other hand might easily be transposed by 5 octaves and sound perfectly fine. It's really up the developer. You might be able to extend a pitch range by other methods such as melodyne or v -vocal. That being said - you can edit the pitch bend in the piano roll view - controllers view window. Might be worth using the reference manual available at the top of the forum. Lots of you tubes for sonar out and about as well. PDF link here : https://bandlab.github.io/cakewalk/docs/Cakewalk Reference Guide.pdf

This thread makes me wish that Bandlab Forum would incorporate a dedicated Computers / Hardware forum.

Not intending to rob this thread but - How about being able to scan by directory path? My set-up currently has about 8 different Plug-in paths. If I want to trouble shoot a specific instruments plugs ( for example ) then I need to fully scan over 700 plugs just to test one particular path.

Scook - can you remind us how to save the installer? it's been I think last november since I was able to catch an installer. Can't quite remember where to stop and save before it disappears. I'd like to catch this one if possible. -
CAL or Key control move now time to next midi note?
RBH replied to sadicus's topic in Cakewalk by BandLab
Wow.... I've been messing with Cakewalk since the beginning of history, and I've never used this before.
