Took me 37 years to discover this great band
PhonoBrainer replied to bitflipper's topic in The Coffee House
Perhaps the 90's were better. For you ? and chalk up another cultural win for STTNG. Well done there. In actual fact, having lived through both and enjoyed both, I can say with unassailable authority that the 90's were a mere capitalistic refresh of the vibes and patterns of the original 80s aesthetic. The core cultural principles of the 80s found their way from the streets and the cul-de-sacs into the boardrooms where clever upper-middlemen harnessed the ethos, and monetized it. Proof? OK. Max Headroom got a filter and some polish and became Ryan Seacrest. We can't live in the past. But we can certainly argue about it ? -

PhonoBrainer replied to bitflipper's topic in The Coffee House
Welcome to the Dead Man's party. I saw them multiple times in '81 and '82 when they were just big enough to be touring colleges. I've never danced my butt off as I did then. And their recordings still hold up well today. They were so original. Intellectual new wave punk with jungle drums and a three-piece horn section. Congrats. To anyone I'd recommend "Pictures of You", "Capitalism", or "On The Outside" or "No Spill Blood" as starters. -
APD Deal: PRIMAVERA String Reverb by Pulsar Audio - 45% Off
PhonoBrainer replied to Larry Shelby's topic in Deals
Might be worth a check to see if it works on an older computer. I tried the Pulsar Echorec on my 2013 win10 machine, and it froze my DAW because the GUI required Open GL or some such na na da da bla blah. Maybe I should update a video card driver. But that makes me worried it might break something else. Old man wanders into thread, mumbles something barely related to the topic, causes confusion, and leaves ? -
Someone please talk me into, or out of, the reverb Pro-R2 I have, use, and love pro-eq3, pro-L2, pro-mb, and Timeless 3. I've got a squad of good rvbs already, including Raum, Sonsig A, blackhole, breeze, plates by waves and soundtoys, the Liquidsonics one. Please tell me to move along, nothing to see here on the R2.

I went to sleep in a Three Dog Night tshirt. I woke up next to your mom. You can guess what she told me. -
AI Vocals: The Music Revolution Begins
PhonoBrainer replied to kennywtelejazz's topic in The Coffee House
In the future, all vocals in all songs will be AI vocalists, with a preponderance being "Celine Dion" But you will be able to download the song, and AI strip the "Dion" vocal out, so you can add your crap amateur vocal back in. And this is how William Hung has the last laugh. -
So soy- and brown rice- vegan burgers are the AI of meat. Got it.

I have the RD-88 as well, love that is only 30 lbs! This new version looks "upgradable" for mo sounds / mo money? The blurb sayeth: "The friendly weight and streamlined dimensions make it easy to move, while the rugged build will hold up to years of heavy use. Built-in stereo speakers project rich, room-filling sound, eliminating the need for an external amplifier . . ." Ok, please know the case / outer shell of the instrument is all plastic. So would it last "years" of heavy use? Well, "years" is technically 2 years. Maybe. As for the rich, room-filling sound? Technically, yes, if the room is the walk-in closet. I actually love my RD-88, plays great, onboard sounds are quite good, and a breeze to transport with the light back-saving weight.

SampleScience launches Super Lynn Drums virtual instrument

Just thank you for mentioning the Blue Nile. -
I liked the dark tone. I listened on a not great mp3 boo-boo and the mix still sounded excellent! Full bass yet I could hear guitar fuzz with clarity.

Hey 53, which site did you originally post your song to, even just as a Private link? Was it Bandlab? Or Soundcloud or something else? Following with interest . . .

Additional proof that Humanity is doomed? ?
PhonoBrainer replied to craigb's topic in The Coffee House
At least, with AI, we won't get the "We're sorry, due to unusually high call volumes . . ." No more waiting for 22 minutes because you're 7th in the queue. Instead of waiting 22 minutes, your query will get the confusingly incorrect answer almost immediately. -
Me too! Probably the best kind of fame. You can still go to the store and buy milk. I hope you are in good health and enjoying what little obscurity still remains.

Sounds like Gulfoss with a 4 band eq built into it? And magic dynamic audio dependent frequency things? My Gulfoss use is on the master bus, predictably around Tame 20, Recover 15, so pretty minimal and quick. My Soothe use is never on master bus, probably just vocals, and I agree too many controls that do similar things, taking longer. I wonder if people who go to NAMM are often "blown away" because, they have invested a lot of time and money going to NAMM.

As the upgrade price is now $49, does that mean the Spaces 2 regular price is $48? (deep cut)
