  1. Yes please, Bob! Do you know if one would have to do what you did on the one kit on a kit by kit basis in SSD5?
  2. The OP has a point. I’m working with SSD5 right now. Routing out and having individual tracks for each out is pretty straightforward. It doesn’t help with the cymbal situation. The issue is there’s no Dedicated out channel for cymbals in SSD5 that I’ve found. Controlling them is a matter of mainly using the overhead outs where the cymbals primarily live. Using the ‘Instrument master’ (top left) and the velocity control (top right in the GUI) increased to the 80-90 range feeds more signal in the OH and provides A relative volume boost. try boosting the volume levels of the various mic controls (particularly the volume level on the OH mic) on the crash cymbal GUI you show, and combine that with Juicing the velocity control. I’ve found I can barely hear them at the default settings. With some tweaking, mine are sounding a lot better.
  3. One of those PITA things... So, every time I open a project, I get a popup that says a silent bus has been detected. I've had them before, and they're always wrong. In this case, it's telling me my Drum Bus is assigned to a silent hardware output, but it's not. It plays fine. The drum bus is routed to a submix (it contains everything but vocals), which routes the the master bus and then hardware outputs (Focusrite 4i4). Simple, no problem. There's not an issue, but I get it every time; no big deal I supposed, but it's one of those nags you don't really need every time you pop open CbB. Why is it doing that, and how do I "fix" it... I say "fix" it because nothing appears to be wrong? Thanks!
  4. Hi C.A. Would you mind marking SOLVED in the subject line? Others may not be weighing in, but this info/solution could really help others in the future searching this sorta thing!?
  5. In case anyone missed it, Native Instruments (ie: Kontakt, etc., etc.) is running a Summer Sound Sale. Log into your account to see what deal you might qualify for. I my case it would be Komplete 12 for $199 vs $599. Happy shopping... or gear lusting! https://www.native-instruments.com/en/ Billy
  6. “There are separate track managers for the track and console view as long as the "Keep track/console views in sync" option on the track manager is un-ticked.” Wow. Wait. What? I’ve fought with this Issue for a while. I hide a folder of stuff in track view and would love all that stuff to be hidden in console view to free up screen real estate. Never understood why, if I had things hidden in track view and had Keep track/console views in sync, those same elements would not be hidden in console view. Isn’t that what keeping “views in synch” means? If the views are controlled completely separately, what is the point of “Keep track/console views in sync“? I’ll give what you suggest a shot, Bill.
  7. I recognize the PRV icon. You can dock the PRV in the multi-dock and have quick access to it. Not sure what the other two items are. I have a second monitor, so I drag things over there to get them out of the way.
  8. “Blend out”? Do you mean close? Click the X.
  9. Trying to understand what the underlined portion is saying below, particularly the “x 2 samples language.“ Is it saying if the Mixing Latency Buffer Size value is smaller than double the size of the MinPluginLoadBalancingBufferSamples, then load balancing has no effect? The MinPluginLoadBalancingBufferSamples setting should not be confused with the Mixing Latency Buffer Size setting. Load balancing subdivides the audio buffer into multiple smaller buffers depending on the number of plug-ins in the FX Rack. If the Mixing Latency Buffer Sizevalue is smaller than MinPluginLoadBalancingBufferSamples × 2 samples, then load balancing has no effect. I’m reading here: http://www.cakewalk.com/Documentation?product=Cakewalk&language=3&help=AudioPerformance.14.html Thanks.
  10. You might edit this post to say “solved” so others who might be struggling with the same issue see the fix you found. Thanks!
  11. Same here. They actually remote-accessed my computer and I watched the tech his around in system settings, jigger the mac address and have me back to normal in about 10 seconds.
  12. Grrr.. .I was working on a project, gain staging drums. Got kick track all set, then moved the Waves VU meter I was using to the snare track (EZ Drummer using multi-outs). CW crashed immediately. It didn't hang and go into "not responding mode." It. Just. Crashed. And snapped off/shut down. I relaunched and notice almost all my Waves plugins were missing, including the one that crashed. I have about 45 Waves plugs, all told. Only a handful appear normal. The rest give me the "MIssing Plugins" pop up window when I open the project. Tried restarting. Tried shutting completely down to the "off" state, and then starting up. No effect. So... I'm guessing VST scan is apparently not seeing a ton of my Waves plugins. I've tried the repair function via Waves Central. I've tried to reinstall and reactivate everything through Waves Central. Nothing works. They are almost all V10 plugins. Have tried all the various re-scans of VSTs. The folders Wave recommends to scan are all there. I put everything in the default folders. Nothing has worked so far. Reached out to Waves and haven't heard back in a couple days. I'm no computer tech, but it looks like all the need Waves shells are in the VST3 folder, which is getting scanned? See attached. Any suggested next steps? Unistall/reinstall CW? Will I then have to reinstall EVERYTHING? Plugs, virtual instruments, the works? Thanks for any help Billy EDIT: I now see Waves Central is showing my DAW computer as a "Disconnected Device.' This seems to be the problem, but when I tick the radio button on the computer to try and reconnect it to my Waves Central, the "Recover" button is grayed out and unselectable. Probably have to wait for Waves to reset me, or something.... So, called WAVES. Apparently me turning off the wireless adapter (I use CAT5 wire connection to the Net, not wireless) messed up the computer's MAC address. Who knew that would create such havoc? Interestingly, the tech said I couldn't turn off the wireless without having the same problem unless I stored my licenses on an external USB thumb. Sounds weird, but that's what he said.
  13. I’ve never tried the duplicate move. I’ll just ctrl-drag a note where I want it in PRV as you point out, or lasso everything and ctrl-drag the group where I want them in the clip. What am I missing not using the Ctrl-D move?
  14. Once you figure out the routing it’s super efficient. Here’s one of the best vids I’ve seen on it. This guy does a ton of Cakewalk-specific vids. Here’s the one on using Kontakt.
  15. Thanks for this. This issue has driven me crazy in the past. Never figured out it was a “delete special” move.
  16. ??? Dude, I feel ya. Great to have a WTF!!! pull-out-your-hair issue miraculously cleared up! Thanks for the smile.
  17. I have the Izotope vocal doubler and Waves ADT. I have a hard time getting them to sound right to my ears. They seem more like flanging the main vocal. Can’t figure out what I might be doing wrong.
  18. Thanks to you both for the information! Always more to learn! I appreciate it.
  19. So, I’ve just done my first comp-recording of lead vocals. I did it in sections (verse, chorus, etc.) and recorded four-five takes of each section. They are on take lanes, from which I will mix/match to assemble the comp’d lead vocal track. It struck me that there would be useful unchosen takes that I could assemble into a secondary lead vocal track that I could use for vocal doubling at spots in the song. What is the best way to approach this? One thing I’ve thought of is recording a selection of takes (different from the comp’d lead vocal) to an Aux Track to create a lead vocal double. Has anyone created a vocal double from previously unused vocal takes? Would be grateful to hear how you went about it. Thanks!
  20. I would start by making sure the Snap-To/Snap-By function is disabled. Should be able to move the note freely.
  21. I'm a Focusrite guy, and what's suggested is where I'd start, if you haven't.
