  1. I appreciate some folk will like Bias FX2, and it is all so subjective. I agree with @John Bradley about the slowness and the constant taunts to buy more, but even more, having bought the Elite version last year I struggle to get tones I really like from it. I just don’t use it any more. Their marketing and the UI are second to none, and I am afraid I was seduced by it.
  2. As someone who knows nothing about music notation and doesn’t play live, this update doesn’t excite me. Studio One Pro has been my go to DAW since Sonar went the way it did almost three years ago. It’s funny, I kind of expected PreSonus to tempt me with some features I didn’t realise I wanted or needed, but it’s not happened this time. Generally I like to have bang up to date software for my DAW of choice, but very happy to wait for a sale to upgrade this time. The price to upgrade SO Pro is similar to the upgrade from Melodyne Studio 4.x to 5, and I think I’ll get more from that. But that’s just what suits me, the way I make music and the tools I like to achieve it.
  3. Be warned - the review will make you buy Melodyne 5! There is also a full review of EZBass
  4. Have just read the review of Melodyne 5 in the July edition of Sound on Sound. I appreciate the upgrade will be cheaper if I wait, but the article really sets out in depth what is new - no brainier upgrade for me.
  5. I agree, I like a stand-alone plugin with a useable sound without the need to fire up my DAW and an FX chain.
  6. I don’t do metal sounds either
  7. Hey Christian, there is a free 10 day trial. I have been a little frustrated by the lack of development but I find myself using it more and more again, because it is so good. If you do download it, be sure to try out the new presets from Alberto to see what it is capable of. Generally, I use S Gear with my single coil guitars. The Nembrini MRH810 is still my winner for a great Marshall tone when using higher output pickups. Would love to know what you think if you do try it!
  8. Truthfully, I don’t know. I’ve only used it in Studio One Pro.
  9. These really are great - exceptional! I'm getting especially great sounds with a Strat but I will also try with a humbucker later. Also, you can copy the text in Alberto's description of each preset into the "Notes" section of the S Gear preset - very neat! In addition, don't forget you can right click on any preset (in the "Presets" tab in V2.9), and copy it to another bank. I used for adding some of the really useful sounding presets to my "Strat" bank. The Pedal Platform preset (#3) is a fantastic jumping off point - I have a hardware J Rockett Archer pedal and #3 is perfect in combination with that. I have no doubt it will be equally useful combined with software pedals such as the Nembrini range.
  10. Get ‘em here: https://www.scuffhamamps.com/news/20-product-news/108-ab-producerpackfull article
  11. Eventually I upgraded for $29 asking price. I did so because I wanted a better way of managing presets. Specially, the new version allows you to organise presets into banks, so I have a bank for each of my guitars. This is a good feature for me, but it won’t be worth $29 for others.
  12. There have been some issues experienced by some users. Guess this is always the case with updates, but I may hold off for a few days - especially if I can resist buying Melodyne 5 ?...though that de-esser is hard to ignore!
  13. I have followed this path since version 1 - more or less. Wise words indeed.
  14. I use Melodyne extensively and the new features will really help me, but I’m on Studio and $149 to upgrade would sure benefit from a 50% discount.
  15. I could listen to Eli recite the old Yellow Pages. Another one in that category is the great John Petrucci. This has zero to do with Groove 3, I’m sorry.
  16. Top quality videos. A better investment than a bunch of plugins I’ve bought in the past, that’s for sure. Until a year of so ago I was able to renew at about $70 a year, but I have to admit I cancelled when it went up.
  17. That’s me - I can play a bass but I’m not a bass player. However, it’s such a fun thing to do! I’ll no doubt cave in and buy this thing - maybe in a few months. Or later today ?
  18. This does look and sound fantastic. I have thought for a month or so that I'd buy it straightaway, but I love playing real bass - I'm a guitarist who plays bass very much as a second instrument. This thing would outperform me in many situations, and I am sure it will give great results, but I am actually thinking it will be less fun than playing my real four -string. I mean I really am NOT a keyboard player and I've used EZKeys extensively over the years in my music - it was and remains a real game changer for me. But I can play a bass...I'm hesitating on this purchase right now!
  19. I have dozens of Waves plug-ins and because of what I've read on this forum I've not dared to update Waves Central or any of the plug-ins for a loooong time. I'd guess two years at least, maybe longer. Touch wood, everything works fine still. Seems like a classic case of "if it's not broken, don't fix it". Will this strategy go wrong at some point?
  20. I agree, I love creating my own bass guitar parts - one of the most fun parts of writing and creating music, even though I’m six string guy and singer by trade. I’m sure I’ll buy this and maybe even get some ideas for playing real bass parts myself. Also agree the use of the MIDI on other instruments would be great. I do this with EZ keys and Omnisphere, and EZ bass and Trillion would be natural bedfellows. Here’s hoping - wow that would be fun.
  21. When I first saw Melodyne many, many years ago I used the expression “jaw dropping”. I think this might be in the same category. It’ll be a game changer for many. The price is actually lower than I thought it might be, considering there is nothing like this.
  22. I have downloaded Bandlab Assistant but when I double click the icon it causes my PC to hang and the only option I seem to have is to reboot. I’m running a fast Windows 10 machine. Any help much appreciated. Edit - solved by right click, run as administrator
  23. ‘Nuff said. I wasn’t tempted anyway, but I know some like these one-stop-shop “timesaver” plugins.
  24. Reduced from $90 to $29.90 Not sure is it’s any good - anyone tried it? Vocal Finalizer
