Cause of death is suspected to be suicide by drinking water infected with cholera. If that's true, it's a huge case of depression. The music is dark and brooding, sometimes depressing and in some parts also very beautiful. I haven't heard George Szell conduct it, but he was one of the great conductors of the past for romantic era music so I suspect it'll be nice.
