  1. Psychotic Reaction - Count Five I was in a road band and we played this song. I played a Farfisa organ, and in the 2-beat 'psychedelic' section I'd kick off my boot and "play" the organ with my foot - pure bullsh*t - mostly glissandos but the audience would go nuts. I started it one night goofing off, and it went over so well we kept it in the show. Part of the gig is being a musician, and another part is being an entertainer.
  2. Except that they wife and I (The Sophisticats) haven't had a gig for 10 months now. But it's better than catching COVID and croaking like a member in one of my friend's bands who took a few gigs.
  3. I had no trouble with the progressives. The doc said just point your nose at what you want to look at. After that nodding my head up or down a bit will put anything in focus from about 1 foot away to the stars. Insights and incites by Notes.
  4. Dahlia = flower = gardenias Dos Gardenias - Buena Vista Social Club
  5. Undun - The Guess Who Randy Bachman's guitar comping and Burton Cummings' flute solo both just ***** away. All the other performances are grade A as well.
  6. So sorry to hear that. I hope Jami has a quick, miraculous, and complete recovery. Major mojo going out.
  7. I guess the silicone sisters aren't doing that for me because I don't care for fake ta-tas. They don't look right, they don't move right and they don't feel right. I was in a road band in the years after 'free love' and before AIDs came around (when anything you caught was one shot of antibiotic away from being cured). I speak from experience. Big ones, small ones, medium ones, they are all good, as long as they are real. Some are just better than others. There is more than one kind of pretty. But then the gals that put tattoos all over their bodies aren't doing that for me either. But since I'm happily married to the best of the best, anything else is just a passing fancy. 8. The last gig I went to was March 17, 2020. The Sophisticats were playing and the owner told us due to the pandemic he is discontinuing all entertainment for a while.
  9. Antiquity. Just say "no" to silly-cones.
  10. Sultan -> Sheik So let's shake our booty to The Sheik Yerbouti Tango - Frank Zappa
  11. Botticelli Triptych - Ottorino Respighi
  12. More classic (at least older) ? Light Calvary Overture - Franz von Suppé
  13. Putumayo presents Latin Jazz This one should be good with Machito, Tito Puente, Poncho Sanchez, Ray Barreto and others
  14. Instead of bifocals, try progressive lenses. The prescription goes gradually from near at the bottom to distant at the middle, so you can adjust your head to see the monitor. There is one drawback, the field of prescription is relatively narrow so your nose has to point pretty close to what you want in perfect focus. Notes
  15. "Llorando" - Rebekah del Rio Roy Orbison's "Crying" in Spanish with nothing but the singer washed in reverb. It's delightful. I saw the movie "Mullholand Drive" long ago and IMO this was a great segment a mediocre movie. Her expression, nuances and control are extraordinary.
  16. Putumayo Presents - Brasileiro Putumayo usually has well produced recordings of music I've never heard before from artists I don't know and most of them are from foreign (to me) countries. I'm exploring this as I type. So far, not bad at all.
