I've seen other users ask about this but I haven't seen an answer that solves the problem. When I add a Kontakt plugin into Bandlab it works fine no matter what the particular plug is. If I immediately record it in Bandlab all is fine. Later it seems like all bets are off. The playback of the original recording is generally fine but there are intermittent issues doing other tasks. If I just click on the MIDI plug in again at a later point and play my input keyboard I may hear nothing. I can increase the volume in the plugin and usually hear it again but then later the volume jumps up to an extremely loud volume. Sometimes when you're playing a part the volume drops out but will sound fine again if your press "Play" in SONAR first. I saw this listed as a solution in a couple of posts but it doesn't seem to solve the problem: Any thoughts?

Sorry for the delay replying to this thread. Thanks for all your responses. Perhaps I should explain my situation a little clearer. I'm retired in a lovely country but in a city with no professional recording studios and only a couple of music stores that might have a professional mike available. I could probably locate a professional recording studio to visit with a 1-2 hour plane ride that might have mikes I could sample. I can't try anything where I am. There is also about a 10%-20% price increase based on taxes or whatever compared to normal Sweetwater prices from what I can see. Having said that, this Rode mike just happens to be available here which is why I inquired about what people on this forum think of that particular mike. I can order any mike from anywhere in the world but I'll probably have to pay high import taxes. I've been told by other musicians living here that it's easiest to buy within the country. That's why I bought my M-Audio FastTrack Pro, PreSonus USB 96, ATH M50 headphones, AT 2035, SM-58, and JBL MK II Series 3 monitors locally. The last mike I used in the States about 18 years ago was a Marshall MXL-2003A but I don't have that here (yet). I liked that mike at the time. There's nothing particularly wrong with the AT. My budget has increased from what it was at the time I got my previous mikes. So my idea was to get a higher priced 'better' mike that seems like a safe bet to please most vocalists...I realize there's not one 'best mike' for all singers. I've been writing and recording music for 40 years but at the end of the day I'm a songwriter, not a professional recording engineer. I just try to make things sound as good as I possible given my budget at the time. I'll check out the microphones mentioned in your responses to see if they might be available here and what the prices would be. The WA-47 looks like something I might enjoy using. Thanks again.

48/24 vs. 44.1/24 sampling - performance vs. quality
Sven replied to Sven's topic in Cakewalk by BandLab
This song is almost finished but has gotten slower and slower to work with because of the sampling rate problem. I thought of starting a new project with a 44.1 sampling rate and bringing in each individual track just to work within a faster environment. I don't suppose there's an easy way to export every audio track to a .wav file quickly instead of doing each one individually? Then I could import each of them pretty quickly into the new 44.1 project and finish. -
I finally fix this today. It ended up being one problem guitar track that I had done Process-Apply effect-Gain and also Fade Out. and other audio adjustments. I got rid of that track in the otherwise good project, fixed that isolated guitar track error message, and then added the guitar back to the project. It wasn't fun and I'm still not 100% sure why it happened. I had also muted a couple of split clips at the end of the track which might have been the real cause. Thanks for your help!

I've isolated the problem to 5 guitar tracks. If I delete those tracks the error goes away when reopening. I'd like to find the easiest way to delete the 5 tracks from the current (error message) version and get them from a previous version a few days ago that doesn't have the error message. I can Copy Special/Paste between the projects but I want to get the VST effects also and I don't want to freeze the tracks. If I save the 5 tracks only from a previous version and delete the 5 tracks from the latest version (that has the error message) can I easily import the older 5 tracks only into the new version including their VST effects? Then I can save that new version and I should be all set again.

I'm currently using Bandlab with an Audio-Technica AT 2035 as my main microphone for vocals and acoustic guitar recording. The mike goes through a PreSonus AudioBox USB96 and into a Win 7 64 bit computer system running Bandlab. For some reason I'm not enamored with what I'm hearing with this microphone and I am considering an upgrade. It may not be the microphone that's the problem (God knows it's not my singing ability!) but I think I would like to try something else. My Tele guitar going through the same PreSonus box using Amplitude 4 sounds great. Where I'm living there are not a lot of microphone choices without a special order being placed. One microphone readily available in stock here is this one: https://www.sweetwater.com/insync/rode-nt2000-review-2/ https://www.soundonsound.com/reviews/rode-nt2000-nt1a Although this isn't a Bandlab specific question I do enjoy this forum and find the answers to be quite helpful. Has anyone had any good/bad experiences using this microphone? Does anyone have any other suggestions for microphones in a similar price range? Thanks.

"This would sometimes happen using Process- Apply affect- Gain" I did indeed do this several times on this project. I think I know where I applied it so I'll start by looking there. Thanks!

I got this error message recently and I'm not sure what the quickest way is to get rid of it. Everything sounds fine...it's just annoying to get the message now every time I reopen the project. Is there any easy way to tell which track caused the problem? I can go back to a previous version of the project and try to figure out how I got to the point that created this message but I'd rather just isolate the problem track and fix that instead. Thanks.

I have a Dr. Rhythm DR-670 drum machine as well as an external midi drum pad that both have the same problem. They have 4 toms available but only the lower 3 activate the toms in ezDrummer. The high tom activates an ezDrummer crash cymbal instead of a high tom. Is there an easy way in SONAR to make the high tom map to a high tom in the ezDrummer kit? Thanks.

48/24 vs. 44.1/24 sampling - performance vs. quality
Sven replied to Sven's topic in Cakewalk by BandLab
I'm sorry if I caused any confusion with my 48/24 sampling rate information. I do indeed mean 48 khz with 24 being the setting for the audio driver bit depth. My AudioBox USB 96 installation defaulted to ASIO in Bandlab. Should I even be considering changing that? Everything was working fine as could be expect until I changed the sampling rate to 48. I've changed the project setting back to 44.1 for future projects (see above screen shots). I don't see an easy way to switch this project back to 44.1: http://forum.cakewalk.com/Changing-the-sample-rate-for-an-existing-project-m3334664.aspx It's almost finished so it's not a big problem. Thanks for all your help. -
A friend suggested I start new projects using 48/24 sampling rates instead of 44.1/24 which I had been using. It seems like Bandlab feels sluggish with the new settings. I do my usual tricks with my old PC machine of freezing synths and archiving unused tracks but something feels different. It could just be because of the elements of the new song project. Sonar also seems to crash more which I usually associate with memory problems. I'm looking for anything thoughts on whether I should being using 48/24 and upgrade my hardware or go back to 44.1 because the sound quality difference doesn't really matter.

This is probably something not worth doing if it's too difficult. I have a 3 verse song that uses an ezDrummer MIDI drum track. The song is basically finished with 30 tracks but I'd like to hear quickly what the song might sound like with an additional verse without re-recording everything. Ideally, I would copy all 30 tracks for verse 1 from the first MIDI downbeat to the last MIDI beat in verse 1 and paste it right after moving everything else in the song to the right. I wouldn't expect this 'splice' to sound great but I could quickly get the idea of whether I liked the additional verse idea or not. Thanks.

Sorry for the delayed reply. Thanks for everyone's feedback. Just turning on Groove Clip looping and stretching the measure is all I need. Thanks.
-
In the old days (Sonar 8.5) I could take a Boss drum machine output rhythm set to the same tempo as SONAR, record a measure in SONAR, and then easily copy/paste that measure many times. I would right click on the single MIDI measure, change the # of beats in the Property menu to 8 or whatever, turn on Groove Clip Looping, copy the measure, make snap properties 'musical time' set to Whole Notes, and then paste it at the end of the measure 99 times or whatever. This basic technique came from an old SONAR forum post. Can anyone please tell me how to accomplish the same thing in Bandlab? Thanks.

(I put this question in the Feedback Loop section yesterday by accident) If you sort the audio effects by Category SONAR gives a nice list to see what's available for each type of signal processing. Is there any easy way to get this list exported to a text file or any other output format? I just want to see a list of every effect installed in Bandlab. Thanks.

I'm surprised this ability is still not in Sonar after all these years. As far I know there is no way to have your start and end region for Export saved with the project. I usually know exactly where my song will start and end and I set up Start/End markers for future reference. I then use these marker to specify the region for export but I have to do this every time I open the project again. There are various tricks to make it easier when you reopen the project to specify this region for export but I'm not sure why Sonar can't remember the export start and end region when the project is saved It would be a real time saver to not have to repeat this process every time you want to do a new export. The marked export region seldom changes. Some threads already touch on this subject: Thanks.

I find it incredible that you can't save Start/End Markers for mixes. It seems like there could at least be a Save option to retain the current marked region or something similar. My understanding is that the Bandlab people have been very receptive to maintaining and improving Sonar. Is there a way to suggest perhaps adding this 'feature' to a later release?
-
Do any of these export marking methods actually get saved with the project? I haven't found a way yet to mark my beginning and end of mix for export and have Sonar remember that when I open it again. Maybe I'm doing something wrong. I don't want to have to ctrl-A to mark everything, select the start and end times, and then do an export every time I open the project and change a part. I want it to remember the selected mix times when I reopen the project. Thanks.

I finally started using Bandlab and I'm enjoying it so far. In the older days I couldn't find a convenient way to expressly mark the beginning and end of my project for an export mix. I had to highlight the time ruler bar and then export that making sure I got the highlighted section just right. Maybe there was an easier way I just didn't know about. Is there a way to tell Bandlab exactly where your export mix will begin and end and never have that change that unless you move the markers? Thanks.
