Hi chaps and once again thanks for all the encourgment , to be honest the way i look at the suff I write (in my fantasy world) is I write the song hand it over to producer who is : much cleverer than I and a much better muscian and clears up my mess I gave him in the real world however is somewhat different , so I´m struggling with the production side of things on many /all levels but the more i do the more I feel I´m getting the hang of I must say ``kid´´ should have been started a new from the begining and the old recording just used as a reference , Im rarely happy with my songs although i thought the subject matter in this song was quite good I think the next song I´ll post the lyrics as well .if only I could find that bloody film ..british film director cheers guys Paul DB

Hi Lynn Thanks for the input ;I´ll really have to reprogram the drums from start to finnish ,I´ll wait untill the weather is so bad that I´ll have to stay in the studio, in fact I´m surprised by the response to this song I wasnt sure if it merited the time, it seems once again I was wrong , and thats the great thing about this forum its a great sounding board . almost every song I write I`m never sure if its any good .

Hi Douglas , yes I really do struggle with the drums, in fact I do try make them more interesting but it seems the more fills and changes I put in , the more it sounds cluttered and out of time Aaaaghh if you whatI I mean , i´m working on a new song , no melody no lyrics just keys- guitare I keep the drums as basic as possible to keep a clear head and then add fill it out later cheers thanks for the comments Paul DB
  6. Soo cool , totally my cup of tea . bloody great..... I cant turn it off..

Thanks Tom, thats a good stratigy maybe i should mix the vocal even louder to distract from the crappy mixdown , I must admit though I´m slowly trying to assemble a constant method to my recording to give better results ..I will get there ...in time thanks for the response cheers . keep well paul DB

Hi Tom yeah your right, the drums are EZdrums and I´m going to have find out how i can transfere the project files instead of wave files .then i can change the kit and tone as you know Tom i´m still feeling my way through this minefield , I´m just writing a new song from scratch so i´ll be only using100% bandlab where i can hofefully do a better recording there are also timming issues ``keys´´ in this song thanks for taking the time to respond cheers
  9. Well this is right up my alley as they say I´m a huge Satriani fan so this really hits the spot well donr that man
  10. Yep I liked this one a lot, it flowed well and meandered down the way, didnt want the solo to end

Hi guys , heres a track from last year I had on samplitude I transfered it using wave fills and then mixed it on bandlab adding a few bits`n `pieces , its inspired by a Ken Loach or a Mike Leigh film about a disfunctonal famliy a down to earth great film, I didnt really know that this film had inspired me untill it the song was finished and after about four or five months later I realised .hey its about .....that film If only i could remember the name of that film , its driving me nuts
  12. This really isnt my type of song , but I gave it a go anyway , and you bloody well nailed it and got me convinced that his could be ``my sort of song´´ , those backing vocals sold it to me and the intro with the doubled acoustic guitares just lovely ..lots of space and really good lyrics this was one of the best yet thanks for inspiring me
  13. So this could be my problem after every recording /deleting /and playing along with session I always do a ``save as ´´ is this not nessersary ? should i just click on `´X´´ and not save .
  14. Hi guy s After recording a song with all the tracks within being deleted and re-recorded I went on to audio libraries only to find so many takes and retakes ,is this ok ? or is there a way of reducing or deleting the unwanted `´takes ´´ so as to free up my PC or is this just not worthwhile ,any easy answers would be welcome (I´n not too pc savy) cheers now
  15. cheers Paulo , sounds easy even I can manage that ...thats going to save me some headaches hanks
  16. The strings i played seperately , i wanted them in the more background I did use the bandlab reverb but I may have used the ezdrums reverb as well now I come to think of it whoops yes I played the bass (badly ) Ive only ever written one song where I was proud of the (walking) bass line this wasnt one of my shinning moments thanks Tom. Im really overwhelmed with encouragemnt from this forum . cheers Paul
  17. Hi Wookie , I took my time and still managed to rush it , i just wanted to try out all those knobs and buttons the song itself was just a vehicle really , Ive now had a listen im my car and the main vocal is too loud . There´s nothing worse than working on a song that you heart really isnt in it, that said Ive heard worse .... thanks for the candid and honest comments cheers paulDB
  18. Thanks David , Ive been messing around with this song for so long now (maybe three months) and the more time I invested the less I liked the song I thinks that what you call overkill , I´ll give the K-stereo a try .. Im going back to basics now and write with the guitare instead of piano ( I`m not a pianist) thanks for the tip cheers paul
  19. Thanks Tom , Im in awe of so many other musicians on the forum that get such a clean cut, and seperate mix , The really sruggle with the reverb on bandlab its just either right in yer face or in St Pauls Cathederal and the more I use it on the seperate the more it seems to get muddled/ muddy I should take some time an play around with it more , There were some timming issuse either with the vocal or drums I thought . I use EZ drums direct in stereo .thanks for your time cheers paul
  20. Hi Chaps, Here is my first proper attempt at a mixdown ..Its the best I can do as i have rerally no idea on production , I just cant get that wide effect- sound , I need all the advice i can get so take off the kid gloves and give it to me between the eyes I ve got thick skin so no need to hold back thanks very much for listening cheers Paul DB postscript . Ive read all the tips and Ive remixed so maybe its a bit better ,
  21. Hi guys i´m just doing the mixdown (,my first) and Ive gone and deletd my piano saved it and then the next day it was gone , is there any failsafe switch when recording a track that makes it impossible to delete. ? with samplitude there was an lock sign that one could add to the track and could only be deleted if one unlocks said track .cheers
  22. Liked it the vocals were really good everything well ballanced

    eye contact
