Thanks Joe. The majority of the pianobook samples are Kontakt. Though there are some SFZ (and someone is looking into converting the Kontakt to SFZ). And some are EXS (Logic). I use the free TX16Wx that functions in CWB that will open EXS files in addition to Kontakt. You can still use the Pianobook instruments in the free Kontakt Player with the limitation of 15 mins before having to restart. Something I did for years until I could afford the full version. But you may know all this anyway, apologies if so.

Thanks Bjorn. There is surprisingly little reverb on the piano sample. The sample itself has been recorded very close to the piano itself and so captures a large amount of body and resonanace. Gives it an intimate sound.

Thanks Tom for the compliments. And glad it had the desired effect ?

Using more freebies from the Pianobook community. Time to wind down in theses stressful times (or at least until I download the new CWB update!)

Thanks Nigel. Food for thought.

Thanks Tom. Your vote still counts. And I appreciate you took the time to listen. Cheers

Thanks Max. Some good stuff at the Pianobook site for free (Kontakt/EXS) if you're not already aware.

Hi DeeringAmps Thanks for listening. It is in fact vinyl noise. I was trying to get an atmosphere of being outside in the early hours. But my field recordings were dreadful and too noisy. And I found by accident that the vinyl seemed to invoke the right feel. All done in Cakewalk. Been a user since Sonar 2, stuck with 8.5 till Bandlab stepped in.

I have used the new Kontakt instruments at Pianobook from Joshua Meltzer called Joshua's Hybrids to rework a track from my latest Bemused release. One of his instruments is called Ode to Lanois. So that started me off. As I admire Daniel Lanois's work with Eno and Michael Brook. The album itself is available for free on Bandcamp. And at Jamendo.

Thanks Paul Bush, appreciated

Many thanks freddy j. And some people deny there is such a thing as climate change ? A lot of my stuff is based on an imaginary film or scene.

Thanks emeraldsoul. Very pleased you like the vibe

Many thanks daryl1968. I was up working in the W.Midlands and saw for myself the devastation. And thanks for the compliment.

Thank you bjornpdx. I'm interested in systems music (Reich, Cage, etc) so repetition evolves over time. But that's not enough I feel, so follow it with changes over the top. The sine trick is to use a single sine wave following the same notes as a bass or cello line to add weight. But in this case used it as a drone. Much appreciate the feedback.

Thanks Douglas. It's pleasing to know I may be getting something right !

Thanks Starise. And much appreciate your thoughts.

Yeah ! would love to work on some film/tv. Have done some very minor stuff in media. But would like to be tested. Thanks for the comment.

https://soundcloud.com/bemused-2/after-the-flood In the vain hope of preventing our Prime Minister from visiting the victims of the flooding here in the UK? Using the free instruments only from the Pianobook community set up by Christian Henson of Spitfire Audio

Hi. If you have Kontakt. This is a freebie I have used CONCERT VIBRAPHONE / library for Kontakt
-
For anyone with the full version of Kontakt (V5 upwards). 8DIO have a new free selection called on the house .8Dio The post-apocalyptic guitar is great. I have them all now. And no issues in Cakewalk.

Apologies. posted in wrong thread (check the free instruments)

Hi Been a enthusiastic user of the free LABS from Spitfire Audio. And have been able to use multiple instances live for recording etc. in the past But since the 2019/09 update. Loading the player takes a long time with intermittent crashes, excessive (100%) CPU, and wildly fluctuating RAM usage. Requiring me to only use one instance and freeze the track. Which solves the problem. I suspect it is not an Cakewalk issue. As the recent BBCSO windows version has had many issues when reading other forums such as VI Control (this forum is a haven of civility compared to there!). I really wanted to get the new Epic Strings (only £29). But again it's with their player and it seems there may be issues again. Anyone one else use these and noticed the hike in CPU/RAM ? Any solutions? I'm going to hold off until things hopefully become more manageable. Using a SCAN built music PC, Intel 3.07 GHz, 4 g ram, 3 disk raid system. Interestingly the player is lighter on my old Sonar Producer 8.5. Thanks TA
