New from Venus Theory for Decent Sampler - Altis. Elevated Cinematic Horizons. Introducing auras:altis - ascending into the expansive, beautifully hybird dimensions of modern hardware synthesizers. This new release in the 'auras' project was born from the Novation Summit synthesizer and was sampled from custom presets designed in collaboration by Venus Theory and Jason Graves. Altis provides a palette of rich, soaring textures to lift your compositions or add a sense of immersive depth and subtle texture. This instrument is built on 25 multisampled sound sources, each designed to evoke a sense of modern, evolving, and vast cinematic space. https://venustheory.gumroad.com/l/vtaltis?layout=profile

Recommendations for multi-output USB audio interfaces
TracingArcs replied to X1_BGD's topic in Instruments & Effects
I can recommend you have a look at Julian's YT page. https://www.youtube.com/user/JayKayRause Either before or after you make any choices, but before buying. He is very indepth and clear about interfaces. And hopefully has looked at any you will be considering. -
Just booted up my W10 music PC (superceded with a new W11 machine). And was offered a years extended update till Oct 26. I just checked on updates and the offer was there to enroll for another year for free. No points, purchases or anything. May be worth checking if it is available for you. Though I will just use this old pc for backups etc as have transferred eveything to the new pc. I had heard rumours of this. It may not be a UK thing only but Youtuber Britec had said it was available. And it was.

Yes. Got the email end of last week and jumped on it. I only had a couple of freebies from UJAM (Mellow Bass, and Sparkle 2, and the original Reverb) So jumped on it. Paid £17 for 5 items . Good bargain. Got the Neo finisher, Reverb 2, Delay, Filter, Usynth Stranger. Plus the free Neo Retro.

Bass Amp Plugin - Which One Do You Like?
TracingArcs replied to Scott's topic in Instruments & Effects
I get a lot of mileage out of Bass Professor MKII by Sonic Anomaly. Particularly on Acoustic Upright Bass. Plus some other great plugins from him. https://web.archive.org/web/20190926213601/http://www.sonic.supermaailma.net/plugins -
VOS is using Bitly now . That's where the d/load link takes you. It's an URL shortening service and a link management service. It's legit.
-
VOS has updated Feenstaub TX (Transient exciter/expander) and Feenstaub TC (Tube compression/colouration) to V1.1. incls VST3. And dependant on your set up you may need to install a Windows redistibutable. Details on the page. https://varietyofsound.wordpress.com/blog/

Music PC - New Build specs - feedback
TracingArcs replied to TracingArcs's topic in Computer Systems
Great ! Maybe Wookie and myself should get something from Scan for the recommendation ! They will set up W11 as a local account. So ignore Windows pushing you to open a MS account including splash screens (unless you want too). It backs off after a few days. I hope it all works well for you. -
Music PC - New Build specs - feedback
TracingArcs replied to TracingArcs's topic in Computer Systems
Iain. If you go to the link I put above to Scan. And press configure on the first set up (PB650) you can change elements you want to such as cpu, ram, etc. Which is what I did. Added the Ryzen 7 7700 instead of the 7600. And added an extra 2Tb NVMe drive for storage (WD SN5000). You can do this with any of the setups they have. I did a lot of research beforehand. And chose the 7 7700 because it had a good mix of cpu 8/16 threads and importantly was only 65w power. So no need to go with beefy cooling etc. -
Music PC - New Build specs - feedback
TracingArcs replied to TracingArcs's topic in Computer Systems
Hi Iain I concur with Chaps. I had my system built by SCAN UK. A long established and respected audio PC builder. Whom I have bought off many times. Here is a link to there current offers. https://www.scan.co.uk/3xs/custom/daw-digital-audio-workstation-pcs/workstations#anc They spent a long time talking me through my needs etc. And advised me every step of the way of progress. Ending up with a video of the completed system before despatch. I went with the system as detailed in my original post. And they set up connections for me to just plug in my extra SSDs. I went with Ryzen due to issues and advice about 14th Gen Intel. Though I have always used Intel in the past. I have to tell you the system from SCAN is so quiet it is totally inaudible. Plus the Ryzen CPU is so fast. And upgradeable in the future if needed. I would strongly advise you look/talk with a company with a strong history in building audio PCs. As we know our needs are different to gamers etc. -
This will crash Sonar if trying to authorise offline. Needs to be online to authorise ok without issue.

Actually this a nice little delay. Clean interface and settings.

NA updated to V3.20.0 Plus I raised an issue with NI about Electric Keys Diamond 1.1.0 not having an image in classic view on W11 24H2. Turns out it was not me but NI. So a new version 1.1.1 is up and now has an image in classic view. Use NA to update.

The nag screen and small number of omissions with regards to functionality I feel are a small price to pay for such a comprehensive, free program. I am able to open songs from Sonar V2, V5, V8.5. (Bloody hell Harry!!).

Venus Theory has released a new Auras instrument - Lair- for Decent Sampler. Make sure you are using the latest version of DS as VT tends to work with the latest. https://venustheory.gumroad.com/?section=nE3FY9-JQ_RlHsstyN5WXA%3D%3D

HI I think this will be the right place to post considering. I have a new Music PC arriving this week from SCAN in the UK. I have used Sonar since V2. And stuck with Sonar Producer 8.5.3 till the arrival of CWbB. I will be installing the free tier of SONAR (already have it installed on the old system) but need to think what to install if at all from the old ones). In terms of instruments I will install from the old 8.5 (I have this on DVDs) - Dimension Pro, Rapture, True Pianos, Z3ta+. For efx TS64, TL64, PX64 (these are in CWbB and the VX64 is in the new Sonar. All the DX are in the new Sonar so no need to install from older versions. if I just install from 8.5 what I need, without installing the DAW. And install CWbB along with the new SONAR, I think it will cover things without loosing anything useful. I have backups of SI, Session Drummer 3 so can install seperately. So to conclude install from 8.5 - just specific elements, not the DAW, from CWbB the full installation, SONAR - full installation Any thought please ? Thanks in advance.

Hopefully this has resolved issues on Izotope and UJAM products showing as demo (thread on VI-Control down to NA jiggery-pokery)

Use your mouse and click on the small white bar just above the FX and drag it up. You will see the rest of your plugins. You can do the same on the sends by clicking and dragging up to reveal any sends you have (reverb/Delay etc)

So, I would like to have a new Music PC. My old one I feel is lacking in a few places (it is 5+ years old, and a mishmash of old parts some going bacl to 2011). I have decided after always using Intel that I can get a fairly decent Ryzen CPU for a decent price. And it seems Ryzen are now settled and comparable to Intel for music production. Spec : Case : bequiet Pure Base 501 MOBO : Asus TUF gaming B650E wifi (though I will not be using wifi I have a cat 7 cable access) CPU : Ryzen 7 7700 8 core/16 thread 3.8 - 5.3GHz turbo 65w (using integrated graphics i don't game) Cooler : be quiet Pure rock 2 RAM : 32Gb (2x16gb) Corsair DDR5 Vemngeance 5600MHz PSU : be quiet Pure Power 12M 80 Plus Gold OS drive : 1TB WD Blue SN5000 NVMe PCIe 4.0 Storage : 2TB WD Blue SN5000 NVMe PCIe 4.0 Plus I have 2x 1TB of Crucial MX500 ssd from the old system I will also use in this build OS : W11 Home (I have always used home versions of windows and am unsure if pro would be a benefit) All this would be approx £1025. Considering I paid more than that in 2011 for an i3- 540/4gb system in 2011. Seems to be fair-ish. I could have an Intel system built around and i5-14600K for about £150 more. But the Intel history lately has made me think. And Ryzen seem on a par and work with Sonar/Cakewalk. Any feed back appreciated. It's a simple build but capable I feel. I do not game it is purely for music creation. Thanks.

I'm running both Cakewalk by Bandlab and the new Sonar free tier on an i5 - 10600. Without any issues. Infact it seems more efficient on the new Sonar.

Some press on the Free and Subscription Sonar
TracingArcs replied to Larry T.'s topic in Cakewalk Sonar
Good to see it's being covered. However about half the comments are based on misinformation, misunderstanding, old pre-conceptions, and Redditt bollocks. I've commented on the BPB article as it seems some are incapable of reading/researching. -
Check your emails as i have received a 10% off loyalty code as well.

You just need to ensure you are online and signed in or around that date. It will renew for another month as CWbB does at present.

Just want to say thank you. been using Sonar since V2. And was happy with Cakewalk by Bandlab. Installed the new "free tier". No issues. It imported all my settings. Scanned all Vst without problems (incl some 32 bit stuff). And just tested some projects for a release that all imported fine (and seemed quicker to load, but may be my wishful thinking). The "countdown" in order to use the program seems a small price to pay. And any withheld features don't appear to be a stumbling block. This should put Sonar back near the top for "free" DAW software. If I have any critisicm it is that having worked in Market Research for two decades. The launch could be better focussed and implemented. With plans for a new audio PC to be built. I do feel I can stay now. After all decades of familiarity are not to be squandered. Again many thanks to the Bakers and Meng.
