What I am looking for is something that will scan all files in my Cakewalk Projects/Sonar directory, and output a list of what instruments are used in each project. Nothing too complex.
-
I've used projectscope before, but it does not do a good job of finding instruments. It only seems to find instruments if they are in the effects rack (either used as effects or set up in the old school method.

If you want to Trash your sound, there are better plugins. If you want to get a vintage (dare I say retro) color with degradation that comes from using older media formats, this is the one.

IK Multimedia Total Studio 5 Pro Production Suite $69.99
Magic Russ replied to tunedeaf's topic in Deals
There usually are some things that are not included that have been added since the release of the bundle. I suppose you could sell the original license and keep the bonus items, which they probably don't want you doing for $69. -
I was wondering if anyone knew of an app which would be able to tell me which VST instruments are in use in my Sonar projects? I know there was one a while ago which could list which effects were in which projects.

Cakewalk acquired rgc:Audio about 20 years ago, so please don't bother Rene about this. He no longer has the rights. I'm pretty sure all of the IP resides with BandLab. After all, they included Square with CBB which was an older rgc synth.

The main problems I have with Kontakt have to do with me having used this over multiple versions, and certain quirks with NI, etc. For example, if you want to have one of your older libraries display in the new browser, you have to do what is called a "batch resave". However, doing so will make that library unreadable to older versions of Kontakt. Furthermore, Cakewalk does not have the ability to replace an instance of an older version of Cakewalk with a newer version. However, if you are simply using the latest version of Kontakt you will be fine.

Same for Liquid Bundle updated to V3 https://www.nomadfactory.com/news/n289-Liquid-Bundle-III-A-Classic-Reimagined Although I have a version in the Integrated Studio Pack that I haven't used. -
I've had this happen too and have reported it.

Also 1.6 update for full version.

Kinetic was pretty fun. It was a great way to put together some beats quickly. Not at all something most people would use to put a full song together, but good for what it did. The weird thing is that it was limited in the synths it would support (basically PSYN and the Roland Groove Synth) but if you had P5 or a friend that had one, you could generate presets for other synths that would work in Kinetic.

New FREE version/tier of the venerable Cakewalk Sonar
Magic Russ replied to cclarry's topic in Deals
I actually have a VstPlugins32 and a VstPlugins32Only. The first is a dumping ground for plugins which have 32 and 64 bit versions, and the second is for older things like Delay Lama which are offered in 32 bit only versions. When I was still using 32 bit DAWs such as Project 5, I would have them scan both of these folders. Newer DAWs would only scan the 32Only folder, so that I didn't have to see the 32 and 64 bit versions of a plugin in plugin manager. -
That does seem to be an odd choice of something to suddenly make premium, especially since it has been a part of Sonar for 20 years.

Bfly1 and Bfly2 are patches from LL4. Oddly they weren't next to each other in the same bank. There are a few other patches like that in LL4.

One thing that's a real pain point for me right now is dealing with old projects where I have old versions of plugins, especially Kontakt. One case in point is that I plan on replacing my DAW soo. I'd rather not have multiple versions of Kontakt installed when I only need the latest (and 5 for the import features which weren't carried over). Another issue is that NI tends to update their libraries to include features from the latest versions. This of course causes problems when loading a project that uses that library but was saved with an older version. Cakewalk saves plugin state, so it should know which patches/instruments/multis are loaded for the given plugin. It shouldn't be that difficult to open the latest version with the given preset. In fact, a few other DAWs already have this functionality I am requesting.

Same here and they did so fairly quickly.

In my case it does not show up in my account. If I go to their download manager and click on Collections, it displays serial numbers for every collection except that one.

For some reason it's not registering the Morley Collection for me.

From what I have seen (including checking out the demo presets through Analog Lab), the LoFi is much better than the LoFi entries in the NI Play series. With NI, they seem like they are just tacking lo fi on the end of things, like "Hey let's take our new piano library and run it through Trash so it has a bunch of distortion and media noise and vibrato" Arturia seems to have more of a vibe like "LoFi? Like the cheap stuff we used when we were starting out and this is the best we could afford at the time? I got an old Casio, you still have your old PortaStudio.. maybe we could get some old Radio Shack mics and one of their old 'reverbs' ..."

It would be even better if clicking on them took you to links for the product page.

The intro does seem to be a fair deal MiniMoog Prophet 5 Juno 6 DX7 MicroFreak Augmented Piano Augmented Strings Stage 73 $199, crossgrades available, probably half that for BF.

I was having issues installing the updates for Pigments and Augmented Strings. It could not seem to find installed paths. Has anyone had similar issues?
