One of my all-time favourite song Notes! Nick Lowe had a few more solo 'hits' over here and also wrote a lot of successful songs for other 'pub rock' and new wave artists. He's probably best known in The UK however as a producer, and has credits on albums by acts as diverse as Elvis Costello and Johnny Cash.
