  1. Not what I was hoping for, but thanks for answering the question, Peter. - Peter
  2. That's a very cool message. I trust Graeme to straighten things out. I've had nothing but positive experiences with him in the 20 or so years I've been a customer -- even when I couldn't get the original M-Tron to work on my system. I suppose it's time for me to grab the upgrade.
  3. I have it, and it's very good, pretty much like everything I have from Soundiron. A rock solid, high quality sample developer.
  4. I don't think that's paranoid, I think that's a well reasoned case. I've tried to persuade numerous small developers out of creating their own proprietary sample player plugins. I understand the reasons that they want to do them. It's usually a combination of not wanting to deal with licensing costs for a sample player, the limitations and inconveniences of coding a library for a certain sample player, and sometimes, their concern that a plugin developer isn't focused sufficiently on anti-piracy efforts (this is a criticism I've heard from numerous developers about NI)... But you're completely right in your concern, jngnz. A small sample dev that decides to make their own plugins presents a number of legitimate concerns for sample users. I've seen too many small devs fail to manage being plugin developers well over time and too many close up and then customers are left with a sample library for a dead end plugin that could cease to work with the next OS update. It's a major reason why I primarily stay in the KONTAKT ecosystem when it comes to sample libraries.
  5. I have the full version of the original MODO Bass and think IK did a great job. But I didn't upgrade to MODO 2. To be really candid, I mostly just used it for the Hofner bass. When Orange Tree Samples released their Hofner library I literally never used MODO Bass again. Because while it's really good, it still doesn't have the fullness of the tone of the best quality sample libraries, IMO. But it is great how little computer resources MODO Bass takes up and it can do some things sample libraries can't do. Which leads me to wonder if anyone is using MODO Bass along with a bass sample library-- for instance, layering the two? I also can't help but wonder how long it will be before IK releases a MODO electric and/or acoustic guitar and other instruments.
  6. There's a video right above your post, give it a watch to understand how a gate works. But here's an article to do a deeper dive. https://www.izotope.com/en/learn/noise-gates.html
  7. You've distilled down the essence of the GAS that keeps this forum active and developers happy.
  8. Does anyone know if this purchase qualifies for the group buy or not. @Peter - IK Multimedia, could you weigh in?
  9. Note: "Sorry, JamPoints may not be combined with this special offer."
  10. Wow, that sounds great -- and I know a lot of folks aren't impressed by famous artists endorsing sample libraries or plugins (and I'm not saying anyone should be), but did you notice the heavy hitters who endorsed this one? Getting public endorsements from the very big name composers isn't a given, even when they're loyal customers (I know a dev who can count most of these folks and others as customers, but that doesn't mean they'll do a public endorsement). These aren't influencers looking for NFRs, kickbacks or a few thousand bucks for their praise. James Newton Howard, Alan Silvestri, Jean Michael Jarre, John Debny... Sorry, I don't mean to go all fanboy -- I mean, this isn't VI Control-- but that is a very impressive list.
  11. I know Larry, and you sir, are no Larry! (Neither am I, nor is anyone else but Larry.) But it's pretty much happened to all of us at one point.
  12. Very good plugins, but be aware that they have promised for a long time to update them to VST3 and haven't delivered on that promise yet.
  13. Wow, the Music Essentials Bundle alone would be a fantastic deal for that price. Even Neoverb alone would be a fantastic deal for that price. I own everything in that bundle and there's some really good stuff in there. Well, your deal was even better than mine, but both are killer. Hopefully, jngnz will get things sorted and find a similarly great deal. Between this deal, IK's Group Buy, the recent deal of IK's MixBox and the deal several weeks ago from Sonible, high quality plugins have never been cheaper. Now I just need to learn how to use all of this stuff properly!
  14. I only used the JULY-25-OFF code. The system automatically did a 50% discount for having enough plugins in my cart and I put in my July loyalty code and the total came to $9.99 USD, which I thought was too good of a deal to pass up, so I completed the purchase without researching any of the plugins (beyond listening to audio demos and the videos on the respective product pages). Did your cart have any plugins that were excluded from the discount? That's my only guess why it didn't work. Otherwise, I'd try contacting PA customer support.
  15. So now we have the CLAP plugins and an STD plugin too. Awesome!
  16. Wow, I just picked up Noveltech Vocal Enhancer, Noveltech Character, Unfiltered Audio Bass-Mint, ADA Flanger and ADA STD-1 Stereo Tapped Delay for $9.99 USD using my loyalty discount code. I had been looking at the Novel Tech stuff and Bass-Mint for a while and just threw the other stuff in my cart to make sure that I had more $32 USD worth of stuff and quickly pressed the buy button without much thought -- it was basically a total impulse buy (I usually ask for opinions and install trial versions). Does anyone have anything good or bad to say on the plugins I picked up? I would think for 10 bucks, even one decent plugin in the bunch would make this a killer deal.
  17. I can't help but wonder if this -- that many people have most or all of the plugins offered for free -- is one of the reasons why this group buy hasn't moved faster. I'm sure Peter will do his best to present this to the folks at IK who make the decisions.
  18. Great deals. Highly recommended -- you can't really find anything comparable for those prices. Most Sampletekk libraries are pretty old though, going back a decade or more. But they were very large for their time and they hold up very well today. You won't find sophisticated GUIs or tons of patches/snapshots or sound design patches with their piano libraries, just straight ahead piano sample libraries that are very well made. Sampletekk/Per has easily been in the business for more than 20 years (I have his CDs from those days) and has earned a great reputation for his sample libraries and customer service (I've dealt with him on support many times over the decades and he has always been super helpful and kind; he couldn't be an easier to deal with). I've upgraded my libraries to Mark II versions where available and I would strongly recommend them to anyone looking at their libraries get the Mark II versions (you can look at the Mark II descriptions to understand the improvements from the original versions). But I do wish Per would make new sample libraries. It's been a long time since he was actively making new sample libraries and I already own nearly every piano sample library he has. Among the few I don't own is the Cin-A. I'd love to hear from anyone who has it. The demos do sound pretty good to my ears, plus it always feels nice giving Per more business.
  19. I own a bunch of harp libraries that I like the sound of more than this one. However, I still might end up buying this because of the "Main Harmonics" and "Plucked" patches and the patch that Glasys made called "All Backwards" that he plays at around 13 minutes into the video that I love to the point where I may buy the library just for that patch. Although I realize that patch may not be included and I may have to recreate it myself. But SoundPaint is so easy to program, I can probably pull it off. After purchasing more than a dozen SoundPaint libraries, I find the strength of SoundPaint is not found in realistic simulations of acoustic instruments. IMO, SoundPaint libraries are nowhere near KONTAKT when it comes to realistic acoustic sample libraries. I've bought, I think, 4 acoustic SoundPaint piano libraries and wouldn't recommend any of them, none are at the same level as my KONTAKT libraries. The one SoundPaint library I find worth recommending is Bazantar, It's only $20 USD. It's easily my favorite SoundPaint library and a killer deal, IMO. For anyone who hasn't bought a SoundPaint library before, you can get $15 USD from a current customer's referral link (you get $15USD off on your first purchase and the current customer gets a $15USD credit). I bet if you PMed cclarry, he'd be happy to give you a link to get the discount. You can also PM me of course, but since Larry works so hard on this forum, I don't think there's anyone here more deserving than him. [EDIT: I just asked the SoundPaint folks if the All Backwards patch Glasys made that he played in the video is part of the patches included with the library. I was told it isn't.]
  20. Nice job, @Simeon Amburgey. I caught part of the livestream and found Maxime to be a very bright and likeable individual. I know he didn't say he'd do a solo cello, but I'd be happy to see him do one in the near future. Anyhow, I always appreciate getting to know more about up and coming sample developers. Thanks!
  21. I second RalfRobert's take on PureMagnetik. I've been a customer going back two decades I would guess. They're a good dev, but they're definitely not a dev making detailed / deep samples. But I think they're good for samples of analog synths and drum machines where I don't really care about deep sampling and I've dealt with the dev for support and he's very customer focused. I'd definitely recommend them.
  22. I'm right there with you. Ben is one of those indie developers who marches by the beat of their own drum. He has a lot of talent and a unique approach to making string sample libraries. I find his work exciting and very creative.
  23. Just want to give a shoutout to @telecode 101 for giving excellent advice on which freebies I should check out. He recommended the X-Gear and Fulltone effects for Amplitube. I demoed all of them, loved everything, then got them and proceeded to create a bunch of new presets. Thanks, telecode 101, I appreciate it.
  24. Brian, you're not alone! I completely relate to your experience. I was trained on piano, organ, drums and had a handful of guitar lessons (and had no real talent on guitar). I played drums originally in my family band starting at 4 1/2 and played in various working bands as an adult but a repetitive stress injury in 1999 caused lifelong tendinitis that makes playing drums for even 1 minute painful. I can't even play basic arpeggios on piano at anything over 80 BPM without pain. So playing guitar -- and I still own 3 of them, as well as a bunch of keyboards, 2 acoustic drum kits and 2 electronic kits -- is far more painful than playing keys; so . I can no longer play any instrument well because of tendinitis and the fact that I stopped playing long ago. But it was in 2020 during COVID lockdown I bought my son a MIDI keyboard, started showing him how to play simple songs from The Beatles and Coldplay that I realized I could play really simple stuff -- sometimes all the way through an entire song without pain stopping me. But that was good enough to let me do home recordings. So, while even if I didn't have tendinitis, I'd almost certainly still be terrible at guitar, the Evolution guitars and bass allow me to take my complete lack of ability and slightly more technique than a cat walking across a piano and do things I never thought possible. Anyhow, if you ever need encouragement or someone to lean on who understands what you're dealing with, feel free to PM me. My son once asked me what the objective of my playing was -- and I told him it's merely an outlet for self expression, just like how some people paint or write poetry. I'm never going to play like I could pre injury. But I can still find a little joy in the music. It's a long way from the joy of playing with other musicians or the joy you have from being able to play something really well and inspire other musicians and listeners, but there is a level of joy that still makes it worthwhile.
  25. And swings too! (Evolution Django Jazz, Evolution Jazz Archtop, Pure Jazz Vibes...)
