  1. The Wurlitzer 145B had a tube amp and the 200A used transistors. You can really tell when you play the 145B. The tube amp doesn't give the 145B more bite, as one might think from hearing "tube amp." You can hear its warmth. It sounds beautiful and smooth. I tend to turn to the 145B when I want the purest, most beautiful tone as opposed to some dirt/edge -- a more R&B suited tone which the 200A is great for. The 200A cuts through a rock or R&B mix much, much better, Of course, you could add distortion to the 145B, but it really doesn't work as well as the 200A and that's why I'm very glad I have both. But otherwise, if you just play them solo, the sound is not incredibly far apart. Check out the demos from Skybox Audio. It' s my only library from the developer, but it's so well done, I would be very confident in buying other libraries from them. It's just top-notch in all respects. Of course, I know that SonicCouture is also a superb sample developer. I'm pretty sure that their library is a sampled 200A. I own probably a dozen 200A libraries, and I suppose my favorite one is e-instruments 200A (although from listening to the Broken Wurli demos, I think I probably would have preferred that). But, IMO, even if you're completely in love with the 200A library you own, I would recommend spending some time listening carefully to the 145B demos from Skybox Audio and if you find the difference to your liking, I doubt that you'd regret buying it. Also, if you -- like me -- are really into Wurlis, there's another developer who has a Wurli library -- from another model -- for the UVI sampler -- Acoustic Samples. Their" Wurlie" library demos sound amazing to my ears. It's easily my favorite-sounding Wurli sample library demos I've heard yet. If I didn't already own a bunch -- or if they had a really great sale -- I'd pick it up. While I love electric pianos, as I grew up with a Wurli, it was used in our family band and my mother worked for the company, I have such incredible affection for that sound that no other electric piano gets to me as much.
  2. I'm with you. I'm good when it comes to Rhodes, but I would like to add that Wurli 200A from that pack to my collection and I would have done it if it was sold separately, say for $42 USD. Their Wurli 145B is excellent. I should say that I bought it on the recommendation of two Cakewalk forum members after I did a thread comparing the various Wurli 200A libraries I own and they realized how deep my affection is for that instrument!

  4. Your love of the blues is apparent (same here). I loved BB King's playing and songs. Glad you enjoyed your trip, Larry! On a related note, one of the last remaining blues greats from that era, Buddy Guy, turned 87 the other day. And he's on his last tour before hanging up the towel. To be cited as a major influence on Hendrix, Clapton, Jeff Beck, Jimmy Page, SRV, Keith Richards, John Mayer...that's one heck of a legacy.

I have to agree with you and others, IK should do something to account for customers who have no additional products you don't already own to choose from, even if it's something like offering you Jam Points. Even though that's not my situation (I think, at this point, there are 3 effects I can choose that I don't already own), I can easily see how it could happen and there's already been multiple people on this thread (you, ralfrobert and telecode 101) who have shared that they are not being offered any effects they don't already owned. I don't think it would be a big leap to expect that there are a lot more folks in that boat who haven't posted here. Hopefully, @Peter - IK Multimedia can appeal to the decision-makers at IK to get that worked out.

I have the 8Dio version, but considering how easy and fun it is to layer samples and create programs in SoundPaint, I think I'm going to delete my 8Dio version and stick with the SoundPaint version. After I spend some time with it, assuming it's relatively the same as the KONTAKT version, I'll add it to my curated list of freebies.

  13. I'm pretty sure that you know what I'm referring to. The developer previously made libraries that were formatted for KONTAKT (NI's fornat) and has since stopped creating and updating those libraries and instead is solely offering updates and new libraries in their own exclusive (AKA proprietary) format encased in their sample player plugin. For customers who are KONTAKT owners, there are very good reasons for buying from developers that work in the KONTAKT ecosystem. Consider the user with over 100 sample libraries having to deal with dozens of small sample developers making their own plugins instead of writing them to an existing standard, in this case, KONTAKT . That means dozens of additional plugins to download, install, learn, adjust to and maintain. That's A LOT of extra time spent that could be better used. Now if there are strongly compelling reasons for a sample developer to create their own plugin to deliver their sample library, such as, existing samplers lack functionality that is a key to using the library, I can understand it. But I own libraries from this developer and some others that make very simple libraries that don't have very sophisticated scripting or functionality and there's no compelling reason in that regard for creating their own sample player. From my experience speaking with developers who take that route, they most often do it because they believe it will result in a greater market share (that's almost always not the case when they abandon the sample library format and create their own plugin; sales tend to decline), they're unhappy with NI for various reasons (they often cite insufficient anti piracy measures, licensing costs for the KONTAKT PLAYER, etc.) -- it's rarely done for a concern to deliver customers a better experience/ product. Anyhow, I've seen a number of small developers go this route and I don't think it's a good idea from a customer perspective or from a business perspective. That's all.
  14. I have a few of their KONTAKT libraries and they're all very good. However, I stopped buying from them when they stopped making sample libraries for KONTAKT and switched to their own proprietary sample player. I really don't want another proprietary plugin to install, learn and maintain, especially when they're from small, one man sample developer businesses. The reality is, while I love small sample developers, they don't always stick around and it's not unheard of that one here today will be gone in the next 5 years. Now, if they make libraries for KONTAKT or UVI, it's often not a problem -- I have KONTAKT libraries from 10 years ago that still work fine. But if they're making proprietary sample players, it's a different story. Plus, having their own proprietary sample player means one more plugin to install, learn, troubleshoot, update, and maintain. Again, it's nothing against this developer personally, I like everything I have from him and never had any issues whatsoever. I just stopped buying from him when he switched to only making libraries for his own player. If he went back to KONTAKT, I'd happily consider his latest libraries. Of course, I realize not everyone will agree with me, especially those who don't own KONTAKT. I'm just stating my perspective, which I know is shared by many other KONTAKT owners.

  16. Andrea is a talented sample developer who has been doing guitar and bass sample libraries for a long time. His libraries are very good. They're not ultra detailed type, highly sophisticated scripted libraries like Orange Tree Samples (who a lot of folks here are much more familiar with), but they're good, well recorded libraries and have their own strengths, IMO.. I think where they shine is the simple results you get with their approach to strumming. Disclosure: I've given business advice to Andrea many years ago and consider him a friend.

It's extremely user friendly and especially useful if you're not very knowledgeable on mixing tools. It uses AI to analyze audio and create custom presets and uses very descriptive language to help you easily understand tools. I use a combination of tools, and especially rely on Izotope's tools, but these are a small fraction of the cost and help you get good results very quickly. I've found they're also a great learning tool that has helped me better understand mixing concepts and tools much better.

  19. I'd love to hear those with greater mixing knowledge weigh in on this plugin. I have Klive Audio's free Warmy plugin and it sounds really good. I love the developer's attitude and openness with customers. He's a great example of a responsive and customer focused indie developer.   21. I'm late to this conversation, but I agree with The Famous E recommendations, IMO, it's the best Rhodes library there is. But my absolute favorite electric piano is the Wurlitzer (200A) and the best Wurli libraries I've heard (all of these are superb) are: 1. Skybox Audio-- I learned about them from people on this forum (Bad Penguin immediately comes to mind) and Release recommended them in his above post when he wrote Hammer + Waves Electric (that's the series) -- and think they're superb. 2. Sonic Couture also has an excellent Wurli library called Broken Wurli, which is from another KONTAKT developer. 3. If you prefer UVI, another great sounding Wurli -- which I don't own, but only know it from the demos, which sound gorgeous -- is Acoustic Samples it's called Wurlie. I have all the Addictive Keys electric and acoustic pianos and don't find they're in the same league as anything I've mentioned above. Frankly, I don't use any of them. They're just not that good, IMO.
  22. Are you sure? I didn't notice any references to Bela D or Francis at the developer's website. I did find that the developer has a couple of freebies for full KONTAKT at his site. I haven't had time to check them out, but his demos sound pretty interesting. I especially like the demo for the patch from Transient Percussion called "Glass Pitched."
