  1. The libraries are KONTAKT libraries -- and in this case, they work in the free KONTAKT Player, so you don't need to own the full, paid version of KONTAKT to use them and KONTAKT works great in Cakewalk and Sonar, it's my go to sampler. 8Dio is one of the major sample developers in the business, used by A LOT of pro composers of films, trailers, TV, and games -- as well as a lot of hobbyists. I've consulted to three dozen sample and plugin developers, including 8Dio. I find the 8Dio folks extremely passionate about their work. I own some of the included libraries, but not as KONTAKT Player libraries. Personally, I like using NI's Native Access to install and maintain sample libraries. I find it convenient. Of course, I think these 8Dio libraries using the KONTAKT player is great news for people who don't already own the full version of KONTAKT.
  2. That is how a lot of folks, unfortunately are using AI. But AI is incredibly mainstream in the business world at this point, not just by poorly skilled digital marketing people. Right now, it's use in the business world by marketing and communications departments is over 75%. Better writers and marketers aren't using it to churn out emails -- but solopreneurs and a lot of small business people are and yeah, I'm with you, they're annoying AF. I use AI daily for conducting research (always double checking, of course, but tools like Perplexity do an excellent job overall). I'm familiar with Synthesizer V, it's been around quite a while. I've been more interested in and impressed with some of the voice changing tools (maybe because I have a mediocre voice and like the idea of AI giving me a better version of my voice or maybe just replacing me with a better singer altogether). I have a unique personal history with AI. I discovered a couple of months ago that ChatGPT (3.5 -- which I really don't use, and especially won't after this!) tells users that I'm dead. On the upside, it gives me a lovely eulogy and states that I'm remembered fondly and my influence is still felt in the business world today (seriously! Haha!). So I've got that going for me, which is nice.* Although, I'd still prefer to be not dead. * Bill Murray, "Caddy Shack" quote.
  3. I am in love with the Wuly and have been since I was 3 when my mother, a musician and music teacher, bought one. The OGrady library was originally a Soundfont maybe 20 years ago and is pretty lofi in a less than desirable sense, by today's sample standards. I would guess that it only contains a small amount of sampled keys and no velocity layers. One of the great things about the Wuly (the real instrument) is how dynamic it is -- its sweetness when you play it softly and its bite when you play it aggressively. That's rarely captured in even the detailed sampled Wurly libraries. The Lo-fi Wurly on my list goes after the same vibe as the O'Grady library, but with far more detail and better sound quality. The Premier Sound Factory Wurly G seeks the same qualities, but I don't think it does it as well as the Lo-fi Wurly (made by an amateur samplist). However, Premier Sound Factory did a much better job of cleaning up their samples (the Lo-fi Wurly samples are pretty noisy if you hold a note down for a long time). Then there's the Worlitzer over at Pianobook. I could do a whole thread on Wurlies and even do a comparison shot out of various libraries. Oh wait, I already did that a couple of years ago!
  4. It's like the old Labs, but without the free part. Instead you get to pay a subscription fee, and who doesn't love paying subscription fees??? From the email today:
  5. One of my first sample library purchases -- my first sample player was a Roland U20 synth and a bunch of ROMs back in the 80s, I still have the rack mount version, it was where I gave up on playing the guitar and started playing virtual guitar -- was an East West guitar sample library and I remember when you held a low note, I think it was the lowest F#, after a couple of seconds you could hear a guy cough. I think they've raised the bar a bit since that library. But I'm interested in @Fleer history, about when did you first get started using samples? And what is your musical background (did you have piano lessons as a kid, play in a band when you were a teenager?). Just curious. We all spend so much time here!
  6. Yeah, I'd much prefer a legit link to Drum Mic'A. It was pretty decent for a free kit. I loaded it up and played it before adding it to the list, so I can comment on it. I downloaded it 10+ years ago, shortly after Seinheiser released it, but haven't tried it in a long time until now. I'll definitely add it to the list. Thanks @Soundwise . Please don't take offense that I wasn't comfortable with that site; my issue isn't with you. I sincerely appreciate your suggestion -- and I agree that this library should be on the list and am including it because of your suggestion. Thanks to @Last Call for finding the links directly from Senheiser; and thanks to @Niky Serrano for finding the manual. Going through this library again, I think Senheiser did a pretty nice job, not only with the sounds, but they included a mixer with an EQ, transient designer and compressor which is really nice (although the GUI looks pretty ancient today). I found that I made a bunch of presets for the library and they sound pretty good (I'm not saying I'm competent enough to share them; I was only a drummer, not an engineer; I'm sure all of you guys know a lot more than I do about mixing).
  7. It sounds pretty good in the demos. We have a bunch of community members who are talented synth players. Does anyone who owns it want to weigh in?
  8. Contact Senheiser, but I'm very confident this sketchy site owner is not concerned with any of the parties intellectual property rights of files they're sharing and has done a deal to get Senheiser's permission. If Senheiser wanted to continue distributing the library, they would be doing it. This site owner also scrapped the content off of Senheiser's site (legally, that's copyright infringement, which is another big indicator this isn't someone concerned about respecting intellectual property rights / laws or ethics). A huge red flag for this sketchy site is that the site owner hides their identity and distributes other parties intellectual property (files). These kinds of sites are common. Technically, even if a library is provided by the developer for free, taking those files and re-distributing them without agreement (which I will guarantee this anonymous site owner didn’t get) is software piracy. But even if that doesn't mean anything to folks, the kinds of people that engage in those practices aren't the kind I'd trust to avoid infected files. Senheiser owns the right to do whatever they wish with their library and if they've decided to stop distributing it, as is the case, that is their sole right to do. Considering it was created more than a decade ago for an earlier version of KONTAKT, it likely needs some tweaking and Senheiser likely didn't want to maintain it. But this sketchy site owner is merely grabbing their intellectual property as bait to bring traffic to his site, which I'm sure he's planning to monetize in some way (likely ads), but he also could be doing it to spread viruses. In any event, I'd recommend against it and stick with non anonymous sites whose owners respect others' intellectual property rights.
  9. I would have included it, but Senheiser discontinued it and I don't link to or trust sketchy sites infringing on other parties intellectual property (which is what this site is doing).
  10. I really like the sound of this library -- and also their Voices of Soul title -- but I can't help but see that we're on the cusp of getting this stuff with AI functionality and wishing for more intuitive UI's than we presently have, especially when it comes to approximating words using vocal libraries. Don't get me wrong, I'm not looking forward to technology replacing actual musicianship, but I do think it can help do a much better job in areas that are presently pretty clunky / poor, like background vocals. There's a lot of vocal AI tools on the market, so I can't imagine it impacting plugins like this one is very far off.
  11. Just wondering, it would seem a no-brainer to apply AI to a DAW, starting with MIDI, where it could go far beyond basic quantization in fixing timing issues, it could do a far better job of humanizing feel or fixing inconsistencies in feel, fixing out of scale notes, etc. -- with ease. Does anyone know if Cakewalk is working on anything like that?
  12. I installed this and it's really nice. Although I wish there were more presets.
  13. Granted, it's only $29 US. But just so everyone is aware, Magix recently filed for insolvency, which is the US equivalent of a chapter 11 bankruptcy. It doesn't mean the company is going under. But it does mean there's a strong possibility that it is on the cusp of going under, as it cannot pay its debts. Consequently, for those considering a big commitment to a Magix / Vegas Pro title, you may want to keep that in mind and consider exploring other options too, as it will likely mean the company will be making changes to its product portfolio and may change directions if it survives this time and discontinue some offerings. https://www.cined.com/magix-producer-of-vegas-pro-files-for-insolvency/
  14. Fair enough. But you have to admit, the guy who heard Ono's performance and thought of this and then put this together is kind of a genius. Okay, maybe an evil genuis. It does represent the longest time I've ever listened to a Yoko Ono performance.
  15. That's very well done. And --probably like you, Larry -- I've been a Pink Floyd fan since I was a kid. And yet still, for some reason, this cover version came to mind. Sadly, I think once you hear it, you don't forget it:
  16. I just added several free KONTAKT libraries that I love to the original post (most of them have my highest recommendation). I put the newly added libraries at the top of their respective instrument categories. The newly added libraries include strings, synths, tuned percussion, vocals, and an organ. It's truly amazing how good some of these free libraries are. Some of these libraries were previously commercial / for sale libraries the developer has since made free. I hope you find this useful -- better yet, I hope you find a new sample instrument that you love. A reminder, if you have favorite free KONTAKT libraries you want to add, please share in a post. If I agree, I'll add it to my list too.
  17. I'm with you guys. It's really good. I'd recommend it. Especially at this price.
  18. Way beyond my budget, but I wanted to share my appreciation for the deal master's Star Wars reference.
  19. Tagged by one of my favorite forum members, @Starship Krupa, I'm hanging out with the family right now, but I had to reply! I created, and still maintain, two threads on free sample libraries and free synths. These are all libraries I've tried and feel are at a high enough standard, I can recommend them. I started by creating a list of libraries that play in free players and then, after some requests, created a similar list for free libraries for KONTAKT. I actually plan on making some new additions to these lists in the next few days, as there's been some new freebies worth recommending. Best free sample libraries that work in free players: https://discuss.cakewalk.com/index.php?/topic/52223-best-free-sample-libraries-soft-synths-curated-list-of-reviewed-recommended-instruments/ Best Free Sample Libraries for the full version of KONTAKT (although I ended up putting in KONTAKT PLAYER libraries too after people suggested doing so) https://discuss.cakewalk.com/index.php?/topic/65790-best-free-sample-libraries-for-kontakt-a-curated-list-of-recommended-libraries/
  20. People are super helpful here, but this is the deals subforum -- but it's focused on finding great deals of plugins and sample libraries. You're best off trying the Cakewalk technical support forum for technical issues, and BFD's own forum. There's developer on the BFD team name Drew that's known to be super helpful. But BFD3 has a very extensive history of issues that InMusic has been pretty slow to address. The latest reports are that it is working well these days, but I'm not a BFD3 user. I use SD3, AD2 and KONTAKT drum libraries, which work flawlessly for me (Windows 10).
  21. I've been contemplating picking this one up too and I think, after listening to the demos -- especially the ones with the Rhodes (audio demo 2), the vintage synth (audio demos 3, 4 and 11 sounded pretty good to my ears), and the Mellotron (audio demo 6), it's going to be a go. I don't love it on acoustic drums or guitar, but I think it sounds really good on vintage analog synths, Tron sounds, and electric piano. Although it is super noisy.
  22. I thought it was legit based on the source. I got it from a Facebook group that I'm in (cclarry is in it too). It's the best source for plugin and sample library deals I know of, second to my personal favorite of all -- cclarry! And the guy that runs it posts here once in a while and seems like a decent, straight up guy, who cares about how people treat each other, so I'm a fan. But when I thought about it, I don't know the origin of this link. While the link itself seems very legit (I already own this plugin, but regulars in the FB group are reporting that its legit), it could be part of some kind of special offer from the developer, so out of respect, I'll pull it. I appreciate your thinking about that. I usually do, but in my zeal to get up a deal before the master, I think I acted far too quickly. I'm no cclarry. There's only one. This is a link to the Facebook group, if anyone is interested. https://www.facebook.com/groups/916355121807800
  23. Posted an hour ago in a Facebook group I'm in. I searched and didn't find it posted here yet. After seeing audioschmaudio's post below, he makes a point that while this was posted in a Facebook Group I'm in that does a pretty good job of keeping things honest, I don't know where the link came from. So, just in case this was taken from some offer the developer had that wasn't meant for everyone, I'm going to pull it. Sorry. I definitely don't want to post things developers don't want made public, and I don't know the origin of this link.
