  1. Thanks so much, @InstrEd! I have watched some of Mike's videos and really find them extremely useful. He does a great job. I really like his teaching style.
  2. Okay, first, thanks, InstEd for mentioning the arranger from Studio One, it is what I was looking for. The big question I have, is does Cakewalk offer a feature similar to Studio One's Arranger that I'm not aware of? For anyone else following along, this is a video for an older version of Studio One (3), but it goes over the Arranger feature.
  3. Thanks, I just want to understand what the differences are and if people feel it's worth it, as now that I am starting to use Cakewalk, I can't help but be curious. I'll check into the features you were mentioning. One of the things I would like to be able to do more easily -- which may be easy to do in Cakewalk, I just haven't figured it out yet -- is to adjust the length of song sections or add song sections (e.g., add a bridge or a chorus, lengthen a verse or a chorus, etc). Just things that would make life easier when working on an original song. I tend to come up with a song from start to finish and then go back and make tweaks, and if I lay down say 12 multi-track parts on various instruments, it gets messy trying to say, lengthen a verse by 4 bars or insert a bridge after a chorus. So, I suppose workflow differences that addressed that area would be really valuable to me. One of the things that attracted me to Cakewalk is that it's easy to persuade fellow musician friends to collaborate in it, because they can download and install it free.
  4. But what specifically are the features that makes Studio One Pro better? I'm just starting to use Cakewalk again after a long absence and I like it, but, of course, I'm interested in how the latest version of Studio One Pro compares, I mean, what does it do better that justifies the price difference?
  5. I'm just starting to record music again after stopping for around 15 years. I was a Sonar user and it's actually been pretty easy to adapt to the current version of Cakewalk by Bandlab and it's great to see that they're actively supporting it. @cclarry -- and anyone else who's interested in responding -- how do you find it compares to Studio One (I remember when the previous Cakewalk owner announced they were stopping the business and I bought Studio One Pro 4 based on their offer in the previous Cakewalk forum, but I've never actually used it and consequently, never updated it)? As, like me, you play rock music, are there certain features in Studio One Pro you find worth the money? Thanks! Otherwise, I hope all is well and, I appreciate having you back. Your absence was very much felt here.
  6. Same here. I figured, okay, so maybe Larry has changed things up a bit since his experience in Kentucky, posting about "cow phasers." Who am I to judge?
  7. So your dreams were your ticket out. Nightmares are still dreams. Oh well, nice to have you back. And I like a bunch of America songs. My first concert was Emerson, Lake and Palmer. Trilogy was just released and a 12 year old version of me loved prog rock. Still do, I just don't live with anyone else who also does.
  8. Welcome back. And no, the names have not all changed, but it otherwise has the right vibe.
  9. What if Larry's like the dad who goes out for a pack of cigarettes and never comes back. What if he abandoned us and left us orphans? If so, considering the dad metaphor, should we: (A) be throwing a wild party or (B) realize that dad was fueling our GAS for more sample libraries and VSTs than we'll ever need and use this opportunity to reallocate our finances elsewhere Developers should be concerned and send out forces to find Larry ASAP.
  10. Do we know when he'll be back? It's still a great forum with lots of great people, but let's face it, Larry is irreplaceable.
  11. I know this free cello library is pretty old, but I downloaded it from VSTBuzz. A lot of people still recommend it at VI Control and I was ready to try it out and it had a bunch of errors and when I opened it in KONTAKT 6 it wouldn't make a sound. I re-dowmloaded the file and had identical issues. Has anyone got it working in KONTAKT 6 that can tell me what to do to get it working? Thanks.
  12. Developers of all sizes I've had very positive experiences with include Izotope (A++), Native Instruments, XLN Audio, Splash Sound, 8Dio, Sampletekk, Tronsonic, Puremagnetik...I'm sure there are more, but those are the first that come to mind, developers where I had an issue or inquiry and they were really responsive, helpful and friendly. As far as customer unfriendly polices, I agree that IK's policy of charging customers to redownload products is pretty awful as well as Toontrack's pulling of upgrade pricing. Both of these companies really are poor at showing loyalty to their customers. I'm still using Superior Drummer 2 because of my distaste for Toontrack's lack of decent pricing for loyal customers.
  13. I finally picked up M-Tron Pro and the M300 library. If you're into Trons, this is a must have. As Fleer posted, it is the best -- and I own a lot of other Tron sample libraries and VSTs (yes, my name is Peter and I am a sample hoarder).
  14. Well, at least you're not singing it in the past tense, like Paul has to now.
  15. Just so you know, I'm just being lighthearted. I enjoy your videos -- I love your playing. When you've gone off on musical tangents playing stuff like Stevie Wonder, I really enjoy it. I would love seeing you playing some Beatles, but I'm not seriously pushing for it. I'm just a huge Beatles fan and I just think it would be great to hear, because I bet you'd play those old songs very well. And while I don't need more piano libraries, I'd probably ending up loving this one so much that I'll eventually pick it up. I'm a total sucker for Beatle-esque and Jon Brion-esque sample libraries and effects.
  16. The phrase is OFTEN followed by an insult, not always followed by an insult. Case in point, if you read what I wrote, it was followed by a compliment and another compliment with no insults. Both sincere. I really do appreciate this group, that's why I stick around. But Larry is the driving force behind the deals forum.
  17. Okay, @Simeon Amburgey, I recognize a lot of what you play in your videos, from the church/gospel stuff to Stevie Wonder, Toto, secular stuff, but I really feel you need to show The Beatles more love, especially with this piano!!! Come on, at least a little "Penny Lane" or "When I'm Sixty Four." I always enjoy your playing, but I think you need to do another video for this piano where you get lost playing a Beatles medley! It is, after all, the band the piano is most famously connected to. Even if you're not a big Beatles fan, I think you need to at least try a bit for this one. Don't make me start a petition!
  18. It's not related to this specific library, but when I visited the page I listened to an awesome demo of the not yet released Bon#Ham Drums. Wow! A couple of weeks ago I posted how I wish he would do a Bonham library and he does it! So, where ever you are AnyDayLong, I thank you and eagerly await your new library. The vibe is definitely like a really cool spin on the Bonham sound; kind of like Synthwave when a synth has a really retro sound, but is also tweaked to sound modern. I just have to say it's just plain awesome and the demo song is really cool. On another related note, I was going through my emails with libraries setting up my new DAW PC and I confirmed a suspicion a lot of us have, AnyDayLong was indeed part of Past to Future Reverbs, as a link to one of the Past to Future Reverbs went to AnyDayLong's Sound Cloud account. Friends who own KONTAKT, check these libraries out. All AnyDayLong's libraries are free except for the above library. But whether they're free or 3 €, 5 € or whatever these are just really great sounding, ready to go libraries. Here's a link to the upcoming Bonham / Zeppelin drums library: https://soundcloud.com/anydaylong/demo-bonham-drums
  19. Another really good sounding drum library and free. Thanks once again to AnyDayLong. He really has a talent for drum libraries.
  20. Okay, this brings me to the question, where is everyone from? I'm from the Chicago area in the US. I couldn't see the video.
  21. No offense to everyone else here -- this really is a great forum with lots of great people. But the deals subforum really isn't the same without @cclarry. He truly is unreplaceable. Larry, at least when you return, you can read this thread to realize how much you were missed!
  22. Now I am in a real dilemma. I have two Waves plugins in my cart at Everyplugin.com, but because Larry isn't here, I'm unable to pull the trigger as Larry hasn't posted about the sale with a message that says a code or no code available. Larry, we need you back soon!!!
  23. I hope developers have planned for this. @cclarry I hope your trip goes well, you enjoy some good times with your family and that you stay healthy. It's so obvious I realize that it doesn't even need to be said, but I'll say it anyway -- this place won't be the same without you.
  24. Interesting, I was just going through a bunch of my old software recently and found a couple of Wizoo drum sample CDs. I can't even recall the name of the sampler I was using back then,
