  1. Soul II Soul - Back to Life
  2. I can't think of any good reason *not* to keep it online - downloading OS patches and software updates, posting songs to YT or Bandlab or wherever. Having to do that the old-fashioned way is just, well, old-fashioned.
  3. Just leave it in offset mode. Then an envelope shows a 1:1 correspondence with the non-offset slider and if there's no envelope, then the offset is the current value. Then pan and volume work identically to an automated parameter of a plug-in: there's either an envelope (it's being automated) or there isn't (the control in the plug-in's window shows the value). Showing net effect somehow would be nice however!
  4. Got a Mark Knopfler vibe on the guitar playing too - very impressive!
  5. It was MIDI notes though - that should affect just the start but since it's a weird one, you never know.
  6. The (one) time I'm trying not to sound like Hawkwind and look what happens 🙂 I'll definitely revisit the bass and kick in light of what you've all said here.
  7. Goalposts moved. Seriously, how do people send files to clients? Download stock images or samples from the web? Install OS or plug-in updates? It's a complete pain doing the floppy USB sneakernet approach.
  8. I have to use a separate laptop for work and for personal use. It's a complete PITA and the thought of going back to using 2 computers for personal/DAW would fill me with dread (I did it years and years ago when there was less online).
  9. I don't buy this argument: graphic designers, say, are in the same boat and are online (I work with some).
  10. My rule of thumb for upgrade is do it when you can get about *2 the power (for an affordable amount) of you current one. That's worked pretty well for me over the years, although now it wouldn't be that affordable 🙂
  11. Motorhead - Ace of Spades Very similar songs really.
  12. Ace of Bass - All That She Wants
  13. Why does it matter (in general, and assuming the VST2/3 replacement works)?
  14. I'd seriously forgotten how dull New Order were.
  15. Well, apart from the subscription/full license discussion (let's not go there, OK? :-)), the look and feel is *the* big issue that is being raised in the forum. It's a really big issue for a lot of people, and I think it would be a good idea to take a serious rain check and go "yeah, this approach doesn't work, we need to reverse the change". I think that would also reassure people that the Bakers are listening and taking usability issues really seriously. FWIW, personally, apart from a few very minor things (and text size isn't one of them, even though I've had to start wearing glasses for screen use in the last few months and I don't have huge monitors), I don't see the new UI as a step backwards (or forwards for that matter - it's not that different to my mind).
  16. Thanks both. I was doing a quick mix on my HDMI monitors so balance may not be perfect :-)
  17. No Michael Jackson track to follow. Promise.
