It's also worth checking out UJAM Virtual Guitarist Silk.  It's similar in a lot of ways.

I like the different voicings setting in NI Picked Nylon (especially the "As Played" option),  but then again the bass note feature on VG Silk is very useful and intuitive.

For me the best thing about Silk (and other UJAM guitars)  is how the mod wheel controls the muting.

I wish they would allow us to use the same picking patterns across the various libraries

That would certainly be nice, but would it even be possible ? I have no idea how it all works, but I always figured that with the patterns the user was just basically triggering an audio loop of some kind so there is only the versions recorded with each guitar and therefore they don't exist the another instruments.

No one taught me to play bass.

    Prolly 'splains a lot.??

I was taught one song once for when the band all switched roles for a laugh at a gig, but I had no idea what any of the notes were, I just played it as I was shown and had to try and remember it.

A lot of software developers inflate their RRP.

Yeah, they're by no means alone in that and it's a pretty common practice across all types of products these days.  I just prefer a more honest approach to business, but that's quite rare now.

I don’t know. From the AAS press release April 11, 2017:

I bought it in November 2017 for $44 and the regular price at that time was still $139.

There was definitely a much lower than $139 price offer somewhere in it's very early days because I missed out on it due to being elsewhere at the time. Maybe I'm thinking it was 29 due to £ v $  difference (£29 would have been approx what you paid in $) Regardless it was always way overpriced at $139.

If AAS is selling one of their best plugins for $10 (with a regular price of $139) they either desperately need money, or a version 2 is just around the corner. Hopefully the latter.

It was never worth $139 though. IIRC it was $29 at release and then went up a lot before being in some kind of "sale" more or less most of the time since. It was even "free" a while back.

It was written for Windows 95/XP

Now I'm thinking that might be why they dropped it. IIRC you couldn't install X3 on XP.

Wasn't this also offered inside Sonar back in the day?

Yup. My only regret at not buying X2 as it was removed again when X3 was released.
