  1. Don't forget that SONAR had its own set of one knob thingies - Style Dials, or whatever they were called. If you can't get the job done with one knob, then you really need to improve your technique.?
  2. Other freebies from MIA: MIA Muscle - Increases perceived loudness and presence without compression. MIA Thin - Lift up that track and give it some ethereal essence. Border - Second order Butterworth Low-Pass, High-Pass filter combination. Smooth response and analogue character.
  3. That's why I wear asbestos underpants at all times.
  4. Fortunately the toilet isn't locked though. With all the old men around here, it's just as well.
  5. I've not yet read the full paper, but the abstract seems to say that "16 people with good hearing have good hearing". They don't seem to have bothered with a control group, which makes me worry about the rest of their methodology ... the first paragraph of their procedure (2.3) suggests they have zero idea of what a random double blind test is, or if they do, they wouldn't bother with it in this experiment. I just spotted this little gem "At this individual level, three expert listeners out of 16 obtained significant results ... However, they significantly selected the wrong answer " ... so we will just ignore those results. Oh deary me ...
  6. Eat your becan like a good boy.
  7. Then "we" are an odd bunch. I always preferred Saturdays. I didn't have to work on Saturdays. But Friday afternoons would last for days.
  8. If the Queen, Prince Charles and Prince William were to all die suddenly, then it would leave me in the position of wanting to bang the new Queen Mother. That's about as near as I'll ever come to being a monarchist.
  9. Shitty bollocks. Gutted. https://www.theguardian.com/film/2020/jan/22/terry-jones-monty-python-founder-and-life-of-brian-director-dies-aged-77
  10. Lyrics: "Avenues all lined with trees" ... ... speakers are need to appreciate the thunderous bass that comes in at 0:50. The original version is far superior to the re-recorder version with Gillian Gilbert.
  11. I see the problem. The socks should have been labelled "Feeties".
  12. Just living a healthy lifestyle will make it seem so very, very looooong.
  13. One certainly shouldn't be taking medical advice from the mass media. They aren't interested in the accuracy of what they are reporting, only in the headline. For example, there may be a report saying that, according to a new study, drinking a glass of red wine a day helps prevent diabetes. What they don't say is there have been another 999 studies saying that drinking red wine has no effect on diabetes. Nor do they care about whether the study has been peer reviewed or whether the results are repeatable - without this no reliance can be placed on the study. One horrific result is we now have hundreds of people in developed countries dying from easily treatable diseases, e.g. measles. Thanks Andrew Wakefield. As for the media (and politicians) misinterpreting the results of medical studies whether through ignorance or design ... Yikes! I've gone over my three sentence limit, I think I need a lie down.
  14. It transpired that last night's curry was hotter than I thought at the time ... ... ouch.
  15. It's not headphones you need to be worrying about. I have it on good authority that wind turbines are the problem. The pumpkin wouldn't lie.
