  1. It's been several decades since I was an "official" student, so can not quality for edu licenses. I am using online learning resources for my continuing education, in an unofficial status... Pay as I go, and don't really need the pro printouts (engraving) ...
  2. Thanks! That's the conclusion that I came to. Should have grabbed that PlusPak last year! ? The current UltraPak upgrade is $169 for me, and that's still less than I would have paid for 2 years of $99 PlusPAK!!! Almost like a WUP meme there, LOL!
  3. I'm taking a class in music composition and decided it might be time to upgrade from Musescore and Notion!
  4. That's a good point! Trust your users to decide if an update is urgent or not. New bugs can come along with updates, and anyone involved in a current project may not want to rock the boat without good reason. Disclosing the fix details can have the additional benefit for savvy users that can see a fix they were hoping for, and then test it out. It's hard to test for "general reliability improvements". Not everyone has the time to open a trouble ticket and go several rounds with support for a minor issue that hasn't been publicly disclosed.
  5. I understand. IMO it's obvious that the IK powers that be are not revealing the tiny details, and that is apparent to a lot of users of IK products. But if that is the company's decision, we will have to live with it. There are a few other large develops that follow a similar practice, so you are not alone. But it's that "dirty laundry" that many other developers, especially smaller ones with great customer relations, choose to disclose that I am referring to. Take Cakewalk for example. Since BandLab re-released Cakewalk in 2018 there have been over 3,000 fixes. All of them are disclosed and available to be viewed online, and some of them were minor and not affecting all users. Just an observation.
  6. I grabbed Dorico Elements 4 recently on a half-off sale for $37.50 (upgrade from the FREE Elements SE version). Unfortunately the upgrade is back to regular pricing $74.99... though still not bad as the full version of Elements at $99. If you don't need all of the advanced features, Elements has many of the features that Pro offers, but is limited to 24 players. Comes with HALion Sonic SE for playback, or use your own VSTs. https://www.steinberg.net/dorico/compare-editions/ There are even playback templates for Spitfire BBCSO (including the free Discover) that are plug and play, and some others... https://blog.dorico.com/playback-templates/
  7. When I looked at my available upgrades, they are only offering the 2023 PlusPak to the 2022 UltraPak/UltraPak+ users. "Requires Band-in-a-Box® 2022 UltraPAK or UltraPAK+". The upgrades are more limited for the 2021 or earlier users. So the only option I see is to upgrade to 2023 UltraPak directly from 2021. They don't show any upgrades to 2022 to make the step up in between to 2023 PlusPak... suppose I should have done that last year. ?
  8. I bought a Humble music book bundle a while back. There was a bunch of filler included. Not all were prime textbooks with well written subject matter and how-to-do information, but rather some often read like scholarly academic research papers. Check out the book's preview PDFs as best you can, but if there's one or two of value, it's probably worth the spend.
  9. Thanks! I saw that feature. I was actually referring to a total UI makeover, similar to what Cakewalk did with the "Skylight" interface in Sonar X1. It's a deep program that has had continuous development and feature additions for years, and it works great. But I would still welcome some more intuitive workflow enhancements and a re-think on the many menus and dialogues. If I stay away from the program for a while, it takes a while to get up to speed again, like learning another DAW!
  10. @David DeLisleYou can set these email notifications up yourself in your forum settings. Notifications > Notification settings > Method to use for content I follow automatically Probably best to not publish your email address here where the spam bots can see it.
  11. BTW, to easily search for this thread by @PavlovsCat, enter the phrase "SAMPLE LIBRARY LIST" in the forum search bar. Or to search for the freeware threads started by @Starship Krupaseach for "FREEWARE".
  12. I believe the general design intent for Analog Lab was to give us access to presets for all Arturia instruments in the current V Collection, including those we do not own. That feature is likely a big plus for many who don't wish to own all of the instruments, but would like access to use their sounds like a rompler. If you wish, the preset browser lets you set a filter by instrument, so if you choose an instrument that you do own, you will only see the presets for that one instrument. I haven't seen any way to completely hide instruments or presets from Analog Lab. Perhaps as Promidi suggested, that would be a question for Arturia.
  13. The thing with the SampleTank 3 content is that most of it was not duplicated with SampleTank 4 MAX, as it was not "upgraded" to ST4 libraries. The legacy content was just included along with the new ST4 instruments. Delete what you wish, as long as you understand that ST3 is not redundant content, except for whatever you don't need. If you delete sample folders, you will also need to delete the associated instrument folders, else they will continue to appear in the browser, but with "missing samples" if you try to load them. Hope this helps!
  14. And just a reminder for anyone that upgraded to V Collection 9 that hasn't downloaded the new preset banks yet. Look in Analog Lab for the "Store" tab and you will see all of the preset banks that are available for VC9 users. Any that show "owned" status but not installed yet can be installed by clicking on them.
  15. I ditched the SampleTank 3 app because it was redundant. But you DO want to keep any original ST3 content intact so that SampleTank 4 can load it.
  16. One of my all-time favorite bands. I saw them play a stadium concert on July 4th, 1976. Awesome!!! ? RIP Christine!
  17. I think this would be a good companion thread to the one about freeware instruments in the "Instruments and Effects" forum started by @Starship Krupa, if the focus is on sample libraries. The main issue, if you can call it that, is unless a useful thread is "stickied" by a mod, it will eventually get buried and hard to find. I think it would be great if both threads were easily accessible.
  18. UJAM Dandy to the Res-cue!? Here's a live concert version from California in '74. The video is a bit grainy. Feels like old days, don't it? I saw them live in Texas in the late 70's. Good times! ?
  19. I don't understand why IK thinks a "laundry list" is not useful for end users. Many developers publish a "Change Log" with many details of their new features, fixes, and "general reliability improvements".
  20. True! Well Ableton almost, but not quite, gave the Suite to me. Have had the standard version of Live since Live 5, which stopped working along the way with Windows 7 due to some incompatibility. I didn't update it because it wasn't my main DAW. Then one day after Gibson shut Cakewalk, Ableton offered me a very affordable deal to upgrade from any version (loyalty to customer deal) to the then current Live 9 Standard. Talk about timing! I was in the market for a new DAW at that point, so I thought why not? Then fast forward to their imminent release of Live 11, and they sent me an upgrade offer for Live 10 (Standard or Suite), with option for a free upgrade to Live 11 . They sweetened the deal just enough for Suite to be within my budget.
  21. You could have mentioned that in the OP! ?
  22. The IK download user experience can be challenging for those that may already own SampleTank, Miroslav, or Syntronik and have sample libraries installed. Probably easier to uninstall and start from a clean slate! I got started with this IK install mess a few years ago prior to the release of the IK Product Manager, when it was all a manual download, unzip, & install process for everything. In the end, I have all IK sample-based content available from my SampleTank 4 browser, with all IK "content" installed in these 3 paths: "D:\SampleTank 3", "D:\SampleTank 4", and "D:\Syntronik 2". SampleTank 4 can handle these multiple paths, so all of the SampleTank content is available from the ST4 browser. Miroslav and all of the other legacy ST3 sound content expansions are located in the SampleTank 3 path. For Syntronik, I have all Syntronik content installed in the Syntronik 2 path. In the process I have culled all duplicate files/folders, and as far as I can tell, it's all working. But this has been a work in progress for some time to get it organized and "decrapified".
  23. Gotta be quick around here!!! If it looks too good to be true, it's probably a mistake! ? If it was $29 yesterday, that was probably a pricing error. $64.50 is the current half off price from $129 at UJAM. Music Software Deals price history shows the lowest price for Dandy was $35.07 in July at Best Service: https://musicsoftwaredeals.com/price-history/virtual-bassist-dandy-by-ujam/
