  1. @Konskoo Recommended video to watch if it is your first time setting up Cakewalk:
  2. @Konskoojust type the @ symbol and directly follow with user name [@Konskoo]. The forum software will present a pop-out menu of matching user names. Just select the name you wish to tag. You will receive a notification if you are tagged. Notifications are default to push to the browser. You are subscribed automatically if you post to a thread. Email can be set up as a daily or weekly thread summary in the "Following" menu at the top right side of the forum page.
  3. I understand that you have different questions. ? I would recommend new topics for each of your different questions. You will get higher quality answers if you limit each thread to a single topic. There are probably other more qualified community members than me to answer those questions, and they are not likely to read a many pages long thread covering multiple topics to find one that they might be able to answer. I'm saying that many members just glance at the headlines, and then move along until they find something of interest. That's just the way the internet works!
  4. I have not used NVMe, so I'm not qualified to make recommendation on that. How much disk space you will actually need is entirely dependent on how much audio recording space you will use. Only you can determine that. Your audio tracks in the Cakewalk projects will be WAV files. You could export audio from the Cakewalk project after you have finished recording and mixing as file type: AIFF, FLAC, MP3, OGG, WAV, WMA. Also you could export from Cakewalk as WAV for additional mastering step, then export that master in one of the compressed formats for online media sharing. So save your project (with the WAV files included), save your exported master WAV, and save your FLAC or MP3 file for media share. Your online media host should have FAQ regarding the best format to upload. Add it all up and multiply by the number of projects you intend to have. You could archive (move) your oldest works onto an external drive to make more room for new active projects. Here is a calculator: https://www.colincrawley.com/audio-file-size-calculator/
  5. Agreed! ...trying the demo... ? Wondering if JRR is trustworthy yet?
  6. I'm not Wupping next year. Probably not buying any mores Waves either... Got everything I need now. ?
  7. AAS store has it as US$39.00
  8. FYI - Some Waves v12 plug-ins are without the new preset browser, but it does not appear to be widespread. It apparently isn't a bug, but rather by design according to Waves support.
  9. Interesting! But why no mention of it on the AAS home page?
  10. Got the full list of v12 plug-ins without the new preset browser, evidently due to unspecified technical reasons. From Waves:
  11. I got this response from Waves support today. ?
  12. 1. On which drive you install VST? Since VST are actually small .dll files, I leave them in folders on the "C:" drive. My VST2 plug-ins go into a sub-folders in Program files like this one "C:\Program Files\VstPlugIns and this one "C:\Program Files\Cakewalk\VstPlugins". Whatever paths you choose need to be added to the Cakewalk VST scan path. VST3 have a standard sub-folder in Common Files "C:\Program Files\Common Files\VST3". Cakewalk searches this VST3 path by default. 2. samples - it is VST? VST plug-in installers can install additional content, including sample libraries, anywhere they like and it's up to the developer to let you choose the specific location at install time. Given the choice, I prefer to place all applications and plug-ins on my system drive, and all the extras on my secondary drive. 3. What is the difference between Projects and content? Projects are the DAW project files that you save which contain the MIDI and audio that you recorded in the project, as well as all project and VST settings used. In the Cakewalk DAW these are known as ".cwp" files. This area will grow as you add more projects. Content is any extra samples, loops, one shots, MIDI patterns, etc., supplied by Cakewalk or any other 3rd party program or VST that you install. The VST should remember where this location is, otherwise you will get an error when the plug-in loads at run time. This content can grow substantially over time, so it is best to install it on your secondary drive, to avoid outgrowing the system drive. Image backups of the system drive do not need to use up the extra space to store this relatively static content. So regularly backup your system drive, and your project folders. But you should only need to backup the content occasionally as it rarely changes, and is typically used as read-only. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 4. What for you wanted dedicated GPU? I don't actually need one, as the CPU integrated Intel UHD graphics works perfectly well, but the developer for one of my synths has plans to add NVIDIA CUDA processing to accelerate the oscillators. CUDA is a unique parallel computing architecture developed by NVIDIA. The technology allows to significantly increase the computing power using GPU. But it only benefits a program written to take advantage of the feature. So it's not just for pretty graphics! ? https://developer.nvidia.com/cuda-zone
  13. It will be interesting to hear what they find!
  14. Waves IR-1 v12 appears to be missing the enhanced browser, but the UI resizing feature works. I opened a support ticket with Waves. Will see how that goes... The otherV12 plug-ins that I have tested all seem to work fine.
  15. Yes, I have high regard for U-He! I've tried the demos of Repro, Diva, and Zebra. I think that Repro is highest on my wish list, as that is a sweet sounding synth! Did you know that Luftrum has a sound set for Repro? Check out the demo tracks here: https://www.luftrum.com/luftrum19/ I have the Luftrum presets for Iris 2 and Pigments 2. He does some excellent work! He has also done a number of them for Omnisphere, Diva, and Zebra, as well as others...
  16. I think that they put out Syntronik Deluxe instead... https://www.ikmultimedia.com/products/syntronikdeluxe/
  17. Then you will probably enjoy this article: Waves V12 Adds Resizable GUIs… & With The Update Price Comes The Nasty Surprise https://www.synthanatomy.com/2020/10/waves-v12-adds-resizable-guis-with-the-update-price-comes-the-nasty-surprise.html
  18. Hooray louder! ? Free is good... and no WUP required to get v12.
  19. Intel Fan Heatsink Assembly Air 1151 Cooling BXTS15A https://www.newegg.com/intel-bxts15a/p/N82E16835203026 Note: this fan can get noisy when running a heavy CPU load. The motherboard varies the fan RPM according to the processor temperature. But under normal use, it remains mostly quiet. At idle it's nearly silent. I have to intentionally run a stress test to get all 6 cores in my processor to 100% usage for the fan to reach full speed. My normal workload never reaches that level, so for my purposes this cooler is fine. Stress test: https://www.mersenne.org/download/ Note: This cooler attaches from the top of the CPU socket with 4 push pins. Easy! Most aftermarket coolers require a bracket to be attached to the underside of the motherboard. This type is best to be installed when you first assemble the computer, because if you decide to add one later you would need to remove the motherboard from the case.
  20. The best way to find out is to look in the left hand column of ST4 at the library list. If there is no icon overlay on the library name, you already have the library installed. If there is a download icon overlay, then you have it it your products, but still need to download and install it. If there is a shopping cart icon overlay, then you still need to buy that particular library. As far as I know, and from what Peter has stated, is that you will never get any new expansions added to any MAX product after the release. It has apparently been that way forever. So new ST4 expansions are not included in MAX. I have seen complaints about this regarding Total Studio MAX.
  21. The various ST4 versions were all released together. The "All New" samples meant the original ST4 samples at release. The lower you went in the tiers, the less of them that you got, with MAX receiving all. There have been some new samples for MAX that IK gave away since release. I believe that they were free extras such as Cuban Trumpets and Pedal Steel Guitars. New SampleTank 4 instrument expansions like Clavitubes and Alternate Keys were never included in any ST4 version, as far as I know. But all of the ST3 instrument expansions are included, like Alan Parsons Imperial Grand, Brandenburg Piano, ArtDeco Piano, The Drums series, Cinematic Percussion, Orchestral Percussion, etc.
  22. You are correct. Each level builds on the previous one. MAX gets it all!
