  1. That worked for me! ? That's the one I would have picked up in group buy, if it had reached the next level...
  2. Pennies, ha! That could take a while! But Amazon has a good price... https://www.amazon.com/Spectrasonics-OMNI2-Omnisphere-2/dp/B00X6H7CCI/ref=cm_cr_arp_d_product_top It would seem that Omnisphere is a cult where you have to buy it on faith, as there is no demo available. But once you have spent $500 on it, who is going to say it's bad? ?
  3. LOL, I'm old folks too! But I do pay attentive to what the young folks are doing! I have all of the old Cakewalk instruments except for Rapture Pro, and they are the first soft synths I used. So they hold a special place for me. But I am all for Cakewalk being updated to a more inclusive creative DAW for things other than recording audio tracks. My first use of Cakewalk was as a MIDI sequencer for my hardware. I would like to see BandLab bring back some former plug-ins as you have suggested, but realize that DimPro and Rapture classic were already EOL before Cakewalk Inc. shut down. The Bakers had already combined those 2 synths into Rapture Pro, which along with Z3TA+2 were the only current Cakewalk synths remaining at the time of the Gibson apocalypse. Don't think the earlier ones would ever see the light of day again. Sad, but the market is quite crowded now with soft synths. Even if BandLab ever releases any more plug-ins, the free model will probably not be available for them. They only committed to keeping the DAW free.
  4. I think the new context for requesting a "sampler" for Cakewalk means something simple like the old Cakewalk "Dropzone", where you can quickly drop in any sample and have it key mapped or used as a loop or one shot. Something with a bit more control over sound than just dropping the sample into a track, but not as complex as a full fledged sampler instrument like RapturePro or Kontakt, etc. The main requirement for that workflow is that is tightly integrated into the DAW, and always there and just ready to go.
  5. Quick clip exported from the Waveform project... Deadmau5 plucks Export 1.mp3
  6. Check out the MIDI Pattern Generator in Tracktion Waveform! It can create bass lines (as well as chords, melodies, arpeggios) according to the chord and progression that you pick. There are over 70 bass pattern presets available. Just plugin your favorite synth or bass instrument and jam! Here I plugged Waves Element 2 with a bass preset, inserted a MIDI clip, added the bass line pattern generator, and selected the "Deadmau5 Pluck" bass pattern. Took less than 5 minutes. The progression is [vi (Am)-V(GM)-iii(Em)-vi(Am)].
  7. FYI, the "Flint" films are available on HBO online.
  8. I would imagine that all you need is a "4 on the floor" beat and a synth sound that makes your head bop!
  9. Yes, it runs on Win 10, but you can't get support for it if that is the OS you are using... Yes, it does crash some DAWs during online auth. I seem to recall that Reaper and Studio One work OK for that purpose. Once you have authorized it on your computer, it should run in any DAW. I'll have to test the online requirement post auth issue that you mentioned. Never noticed that before, as my computers are online. In any case, I downloaded the Arturia ARP 2600 demo, and it works well. ?
  10. According to SONiVOX support, TimewARP 2600 is only officially supported on Windows 7. When I tried to open a support ticket and mentioned Windows 10, they closed the ticket immediately and wouldn't respond further.
  11. Working in IR-L here. Have both the Sampled Acoustics and the Virtual Acoustics, and they are both accessible. Didn't do anything special, I just followed the directions at: https://www.waves.com/support/how-to-install-ir-reverb-preset-library The extracted contents need to be copied separately into two different folders within the "Waves\Data path", according to the instructions. "\Waves\Data\IR1Impulses V2" and "\Waves\Data\IR1Impulses", respectively.
  12. Is it possible to turn off the toast notification for Early Access? It would seem to be fairly easy to provide a click to "Don't show me this again". But every day when I start Cakewalk I see it again.
  13. Ozone 9 Elements and Neutron 3 Elements.
  14. Have you had a look at the TX16Wx sampler (free)? It is multi-timbral and you can import your own samples. Includes a mapping editor, wave editor and slicer, sound shaping and modulation. https://www.tx16wx.com/
  15. I hear ya. I started using Linux about 20 years ago. It is the most stable computer OS that I have ever touched! But I have also been using Windows for at least the same amount of time for MIDI & audio, which actually started because I couldn't afford a Mac in the late 90's. ? I still would consider the whole desktop experience on Linux as experimental. But Linux has dominated the server world, and even Microsoft has finally caved and uses Linux in the Azure cloud. But for the desktop, and especially music production, my opinion is that life is too short to use an experimental platform for music, if all you really want to do is make music! But if you wish to be a computer engineer, carry on! Cheers! ?
  16. I had a few Cakewalk crashes when freezing instrument tracks that Scheps was inserted into. But that has since stopped, and I cannot repro the issue. If anyone else runs across that one, I'd be interested in hearing the details.
  17. Structure is not GM. It is a multi-timbral synth/sampler with a good sample library included, that you can substitute for cheesy GM sounds. Caveat: It has not been updated in 5 years, so it's performance in Windows 10 is questionable. There is a long-standing bug that prevents text input (i.e. naming parts, patches, etc.) if you want to import your own samples and create your own patches. But it works fine as a sample player for the 37GB sample library that it comes with. The samples are also encrypted and locked to structure, so you won't be using them elsewhere... But for $20, hell yeah!

  19. Off-topic, but do you also remember all of the 'Man from Uncle' toys back in those days? I think that series was trying to capitalize on all the spy genre stuff put out by the Bond franchise!
