  1. Yes, it runs on Win 10, but you can't get support for it if that is the OS you are using... Yes, it does crash some DAWs during online auth. I seem to recall that Reaper and Studio One work OK for that purpose. Once you have authorized it on your computer, it should run in any DAW. I'll have to test the online requirement post auth issue that you mentioned. Never noticed that before, as my computers are online. In any case, I downloaded the Arturia ARP 2600 demo, and it works well. ?
  2. According to SONiVOX support, TimewARP 2600 is only officially supported on Windows 7. When I tried to open a support ticket and mentioned Windows 10, they closed the ticket immediately and wouldn't respond further.
  3. Working in IR-L here. Have both the Sampled Acoustics and the Virtual Acoustics, and they are both accessible. Didn't do anything special, I just followed the directions at: https://www.waves.com/support/how-to-install-ir-reverb-preset-library The extracted contents need to be copied separately into two different folders within the "Waves\Data path", according to the instructions. "\Waves\Data\IR1Impulses V2" and "\Waves\Data\IR1Impulses", respectively.
  4. Ozone 9 Elements and Neutron 3 Elements.
  5. Have you had a look at the TX16Wx sampler (free)? It is multi-timbral and you can import your own samples. Includes a mapping editor, wave editor and slicer, sound shaping and modulation. https://www.tx16wx.com/
  6. I hear ya. I started using Linux about 20 years ago. It is the most stable computer OS that I have ever touched! But I have also been using Windows for at least the same amount of time for MIDI & audio, which actually started because I couldn't afford a Mac in the late 90's. ? I still would consider the whole desktop experience on Linux as experimental. But Linux has dominated the server world, and even Microsoft has finally caved and uses Linux in the Azure cloud. But for the desktop, and especially music production, my opinion is that life is too short to use an experimental platform for music, if all you really want to do is make music! But if you wish to be a computer engineer, carry on! Cheers! ?
  7. I had a few Cakewalk crashes when freezing instrument tracks that Scheps was inserted into. But that has since stopped, and I cannot repro the issue. If anyone else runs across that one, I'd be interested in hearing the details.
  8. Structure is not GM. It is a multi-timbral synth/sampler with a good sample library included, that you can substitute for cheesy GM sounds. Caveat: It has not been updated in 5 years, so it's performance in Windows 10 is questionable. There is a long-standing bug that prevents text input (i.e. naming parts, patches, etc.) if you want to import your own samples and create your own patches. But it works fine as a sample player for the 37GB sample library that it comes with. The samples are also encrypted and locked to structure, so you won't be using them elsewhere... But for $20, hell yeah!

  10. Off-topic, but do you also remember all of the 'Man from Uncle' toys back in those days? I think that series was trying to capitalize on all the spy genre stuff put out by the Bond franchise!
  11. Dr No, Goldfinger, Thunderball. All classics!!! The best! ?
  12. What was the name of the opening band?
  13. You must have mixed it up with "Goldfinger"! ?
  14. Well for that price you get: VIP 3.1, AIR FX Collection Plus, Velvet 2, Transfuser 2, Hybrid 3, Vacuum Pro, XPand!2, & Loom 1. For $5 each.
  15. It's normally sold as a part of the discounted AIR collection, but I've not often seen it for under $99 standalone. I would only recommend buying Structure as a player for the included instrument library, not as a sampler to import your own samples. The 1st reason for that opinion is that it needs a known bug fix for entering new text labels. Several others, including me, have noticed the UI will not take text entry any more . Maybe that's just a Windows 10 thing, and you might get lucky with Win 7. The only reason I still keep it around is for the sample collection, which isn't bad! The 2nd reason is that is hasn't been updated since October 2015. No longer under current development, as far as I know. Probably too out of date for Win 10 use, other than as a player. But for $20 this makes for a decent ROMpler! ?
  16. IR-1 is cool, but you could probably do a lot with just the free "L" version. I got some usable results just loading an IR at default values on the reverb settings on IR-1, and just controlling wet/dry. IR-L does lack a few sliders and controls that you might want if you intend to do some detailed tweaks.
  17. https://www.pluginboutique.com/product/1-Instruments/5-Sampler/1551-Structure-2 16-part multi-timbral. Makes a nice ROMpler.
  18. @mdiemer AIR Structure 2 sampler just went on sale for $19.99. https://www.pluginboutique.com/product/1-Instruments/5-Sampler/1551-Structure-2
  19. I recently picked up the full IR-1 at Waves last big sale. It's a very nice reverb. The IR-L was included. "The IR-L offers the same great sound and performance as our IR1, using a simple, streamlined interface for maximum ease and efficiency." Definitely go grab the Waves IR Library! One of the IR's is for the 7th row of the Apollo Theater. Nice ambiance for an acoustic performance! ?
  20. Even though I have VIP 3 and love it, I would hesitate to recommend it now until I see further proof of life from Akai. It has been a long time since they released an update, or support for VST3. It's still VST2 only. It is still good at what it was designed to do, but I'm afraid Akai's parent company, inMusic, appears to be cutting back active development to all of their software lines such as AIR Music and Sonivox, without comment. I think DJ hardware is the main focus for Akai now.
  21. I saw them perform that live in the 70's. Hell of a laser show!!! They did a laser animation of 'zilla running across the walls of the arena. At least that's what I think I saw... ?
