  1. You do realize that you are responding to a thread over a year old? Besides it's up to the VSTi vendor. Cakewalk supports the feature if the plug-in is capable.
  2. You can do this easily in Studio One by dragging and dropping any MIDI track in the song to the chord track, or by selecting any MIDI track in the song, then in the right-click context menu, select instrument part > extract to chord track.
  3. And I actually almost picked up Cubase Elements a few years ago for their chord track. That was v9 at the time. It's been a while so I'm not sure how Cubase and Studio One now compare in that regard, but personally don't recall the Cubase details. Cubase was probably the one of first, if not the first, to offer the feature. I own Studio One Pro now as a result of a crossgrade deal that I took advantage of back when Gibson/Cakewalk shutdown. Studio One added chord track to v4, and I'm assuming PreSonus borrowed some ideas from Cubase (as well as some developers).
  4. That's what I was subtly implying... ?
  5. I would encourage avoiding a simplistic approach. The essential idea of a chord track is that it is global to the project, and all tracks are capable of being aware and following it (follow on/off). So you can re-harmonize the entire project just by a simple tweak to the chords and progression in the chord track. Another benefit to the chord track is that it provides clear chord markers. Studio One is a proven commercial success. I think the bakers should follow that example of chord track, with a Cakewalk spin, of course!

    Virtual CZ

I got the CZ-1000 with the full sized keys. But it was my first synth! Later on I wished that I had gotten a higher end CZ model. But with the Virtual CZ, you can use any controller, and programming is now much easier than using the front panel and tiny LCD on the hardware. Ha!

    Virtual CZ

I have the Virtual CZ, as well as a real one that I bought back in the 80's. The virtual sound kicks the same butt... ?
  8. There's samplers and then there's samplers.
  9. I followed your comments regarding getting suggestions for alternate chord voicing and for chord progressions with interest. That would be very useful! But I'm not sure that having styles, timing, and rhythm generated for you would be a core feature of a chord track. That sounds a bit more along the lines of something like Band in a Box, and not a typical core DAW feature. Which although might be nice to have, in my opinion that's not really a necessity for Cakewalk.
  10. I think that is an excellent point! I would even add the suggestion that a versatile chord selector be considered as a first step on the roadmap towards a fully fledged chord track! Just having the ability to add chords from a selection tool to an instrument track would be indispensable.
  11. Don't forget to rate the topic! (at the top)
  12. Are you tracking (recording) or mixing/mastering? Running a higher buffer for mixing shouldn't be an issue. What plugins are you using on the busses? Linear Phase type plug-ins will probably have a negative impact on real-time processing due to look-ahead buffering. Again, that should not be an issue for mixing/mastering, as buffering during playback should accommodate that.
  13. Probably. I have many virtual instruments (but no Omnisphere, yet), and find that there is really noting else quite like it. Not sure what your main genre is, but if you really like atmospheric, ethereal, cinematic, organic, and evolving sounds it is perfect for that! ?
  14. Tiger the Frog posted in his list that the PIB deal for a free iZotope Iris 2 expires on Nov 12th. https://vi-control.net/community/threads/tiger-the-frogs-alphabetical-list-of-november-2020-sales.100595/
  15. Wait, what? His parent's owned car dealerships...
  16. You might want to check out Amadeus Symphonic Orchestra. https://indiginus.com/amadeus.htm It is compatible with the free Kontakt Player. If you are already a SonicScores user with Overture 5, it is a $99 deal. https://sonicscores.com/product/amadeus-symphonic-orchestra-1/ There are various articulations, including staccato...
  17. I had formed my first impression of him as "Robby" in the film "Joe Dirt". https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0245686/ But then a few years later, I saw him perform at an outdoor music fest. One of my friends insisted that we catch his set. So I grudgingly went along as there were a lot of other good bands in the line-up that day, including Jakob Dylan and the Wallflowers. And it was still early... So at one point during his set, the rest of the band took a break and went backstage. Then Kid Rock proceeded to go around to every instrument on stage and perform a solo on each. My first reaction was "what a show off". Then it occurred to me that he was actually a quite talented multi-instrumentalist! ? Still not a big fan of his music, but he earned my respect as a musician... https://www.rollingstone.com/music/music-news/21-things-you-learn-hanging-out-with-kid-rock-182055/
  18. I really think this would be a nice and useful addition to Cakewalk for songwriters that write on their computer. I am hopeful since the developers have already added the arranger track. So adjusting the song harmonically is the next logical step. Moving forward! ?
  19. Rather than post a long winded FR, I thought I would just post a couple of video examples of using the chord track in Studio One 4 Pro. I'm not suggesting an exact copy of the PreSonus feature, but this is used to give an idea of the general function to shoot for. This feature would probably be most useful in the songwriting stage. If you are already working on recording and mixing your final song version, probably not so much. In a nutshell, the main points to harmonically adjusting your entire song via chord track are: 1. A project chord track at the top, similar to an arranger track or a tempo track, but one that can mark specific chord changes along the timeline. 2. The ability for the instrument and audio tracks follow the chord changes (follow chords enabled) by transposing harmonically to match the chord track. You should be able to select which tracks will follow, such as you wouldn't want your rhythm parts such MIDI drums to transpose. a. Instrument (or MIDI) tracks will be able to transpose directly to match the chord assigned in the chord track. Chord detection is a no-brainer here, as the note data already exists in MIDI tracks. b. Audio tracks are probably a bit more challenging, dependent on ARA for accurate chord detection within audio, and pitch shifting them to match harmonically. There are probably reasonable limits to how much shifting would remain musical. 3. It is non-destructive. You can change the chord track at any time, and you can disable it and revert to your original version. 4. A chord selector to choose chords from (such as a circle of fifths). 5. Extract chords to the chord track. Example: if you have already recorded a MIDI instrument part in your song with your original chords, those chords can be extracted to the chord track by selecting that track and extracting them. It's also possible to extract chords from audio, but possibly a bit more work. This first video is a good overview of chord track: This second video takes a bit of a deeper dive into working with audio in chord track:
  20. On a positive note, maybe that will inspire iZotope to resume development of this fine instrument!
  21. The SampleTank 3 library has staccato articulations for woodwinds, but they all appear to be derived from Miroslav .
