    AIR Riser

I picked up the AIR instrument pack about 4 years ago. The included AIR theRiser is an interesting instrument with some cool sounds. It does "falls" too! Plenty of presets. including swells and fades. I think I like the swells best. They are swell. ? Plus it has a handy "invert" button on the UI, that can instantly change any rise into a fall, or a swell into a fade. The "Generators" section is what sets this synth apart. There are generators for sweep, noise, and chord, with LFOs for everything. The rest of the synth is basic synth filter, amp, and effects controls. The available osc modes in the generators are variations of saw and square waveforms.
  2. Not at all! I was only describing what had worked for me. I think that you could achieve your goals with anything from Intel 3rd gen or later. Good luck!
  3. Did you have any luck with MME?
  4. I can recall a few years ago that Iris 2 seemed quite "heavy" on my CPU, with some sounds easily reaching the breakup point. But on my current PC, the CPU meter barely registers when using it. Running at 48000/24 with 256 buffers. So this is much more usable now than when first released!
  5. Don't think you will have much luck with MME for use with any DAW. If you are using Windows 10, WASAPI is the best native choice, unless you happen to have ASIO available, which is preferred for real-time audio and is usually supplied with pro audio interfaces. As a last resort, you could try ASIO4ALL which is a freeware wrapper for the Windows audio driver that can improve latency.
  6. That is exactly what happened to me! And it is probably best to be aware of the possibility of conflict until you have tested on your system.
  7. Actually if you are into that, I would highly recommend Native Instruments "Kinetic Treats" for the "Xylo polyphones" preset. ?
  8. Definitely do not install ASIO4all or any other generic ASIO if your computer already has any type of ASIO installed. They do not play well together! Just install one ASIO at a time! Remove any others that you may have installed before trying a different one. I have used ASIO4all on my laptop with the onboard Realtek sound chip without issue. But I have also run demos of other audio products on my desktop DAW that slipped in a generic ASIO driver without asking first, even though I already had ASIO from my audio interface vendor. That caused issues where Cakewalk could not detect ASIO properly.
  9. I would say it's probably worth it if you like accordion and harmonium, both listed in the "ethnic" category. They are good, IMHO! But as for the other categories, they seem to mostly be keyboard instruments run through stomp boxes and other effects. Most of which you could create all by yourself with a little imagination and a few effects like Amplitube or similar. Then there is also the toy piano, if that's your thing!
  10. Yes... for $13.99 with Jam Points...
  11. Realtek does seem to keep upping their game. I think their target market is high-end gamers that spend thousands on video cards, and probably need the latest HD audio to go with. My current desktop motherboard has the Realtek S1220A. "It also features an unprecedented 120dB signal-to-noise ratio for the stereo line-out and a 113dB SNR for the line-in, providing pristine audio quality. Additionally, a new impedance-sensing circuit automatically adjusts gain to ensure the optimal volume range for your headphones". I've disabled it in the BIOS. ?
  12. I will have to listen to the full preset list in detail, but I am not as impressed as I had hoped I would be with Alternate Keys, after a brief preview...
  13. I found all of the SynthMaster One expansions are already included for me. Maybe that's because I have the "Everything Bundle"? If you right-click on the product list within the SM One browser using the "KV331 Audio Shop" tab (you need to be online), and select "Refresh my licenses", it will download and install any that you have available that are not installed yet. I recall that they gave away a few SM One expansion freebies earlier.
  14. The Big Tone Analog Basics and the Table Works (for SynthMaster) are excellent!
  15. That worked for me! ? That's the one I would have picked up in group buy, if it had reached the next level...
  16. Pennies, ha! That could take a while! But Amazon has a good price... https://www.amazon.com/Spectrasonics-OMNI2-Omnisphere-2/dp/B00X6H7CCI/ref=cm_cr_arp_d_product_top It would seem that Omnisphere is a cult where you have to buy it on faith, as there is no demo available. But once you have spent $500 on it, who is going to say it's bad? ?
  17. LOL, I'm old folks too! But I do pay attentive to what the young folks are doing! I have all of the old Cakewalk instruments except for Rapture Pro, and they are the first soft synths I used. So they hold a special place for me. But I am all for Cakewalk being updated to a more inclusive creative DAW for things other than recording audio tracks. My first use of Cakewalk was as a MIDI sequencer for my hardware. I would like to see BandLab bring back some former plug-ins as you have suggested, but realize that DimPro and Rapture classic were already EOL before Cakewalk Inc. shut down. The Bakers had already combined those 2 synths into Rapture Pro, which along with Z3TA+2 were the only current Cakewalk synths remaining at the time of the Gibson apocalypse. Don't think the earlier ones would ever see the light of day again. Sad, but the market is quite crowded now with soft synths. Even if BandLab ever releases any more plug-ins, the free model will probably not be available for them. They only committed to keeping the DAW free.
  18. I think the new context for requesting a "sampler" for Cakewalk means something simple like the old Cakewalk "Dropzone", where you can quickly drop in any sample and have it key mapped or used as a loop or one shot. Something with a bit more control over sound than just dropping the sample into a track, but not as complex as a full fledged sampler instrument like RapturePro or Kontakt, etc. The main requirement for that workflow is that is tightly integrated into the DAW, and always there and just ready to go.
  19. Quick clip exported from the Waveform project... Deadmau5 plucks Export 1.mp3
  20. Check out the MIDI Pattern Generator in Tracktion Waveform! It can create bass lines (as well as chords, melodies, arpeggios) according to the chord and progression that you pick. There are over 70 bass pattern presets available. Just plugin your favorite synth or bass instrument and jam! Here I plugged Waves Element 2 with a bass preset, inserted a MIDI clip, added the bass line pattern generator, and selected the "Deadmau5 Pluck" bass pattern. Took less than 5 minutes. The progression is [vi (Am)-V(GM)-iii(Em)-vi(Am)].
  21. FYI, the "Flint" films are available on HBO online.
  22. I would imagine that all you need is a "4 on the floor" beat and a synth sound that makes your head bop!
