Are you tracking (recording) or mixing/mastering? Running a higher buffer for mixing shouldn't be an issue. What plugins are you using on the busses? Linear Phase type plug-ins will probably have a negative impact on real-time processing due to look-ahead buffering. Again, that should not be an issue for mixing/mastering, as buffering during playback should accommodate that.

Probably. I have many virtual instruments (but no Omnisphere, yet), and find that there is really noting else quite like it. Not sure what your main genre is, but if you really like atmospheric, ethereal, cinematic, organic, and evolving sounds it is perfect for that! ?

You might want to check out Amadeus Symphonic Orchestra. https://indiginus.com/amadeus.htm It is compatible with the free Kontakt Player. If you are already a SonicScores user with Overture 5, it is a $99 deal. https://sonicscores.com/product/amadeus-symphonic-orchestra-1/ There are various articulations, including staccato... -
(SOLVED)Midi Import From Reaper Is Too Loud
abacab replied to mdiemer's topic in Cakewalk by BandLab
I had formed my first impression of him as "Robby" in the film "Joe Dirt". https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0245686/ But then a few years later, I saw him perform at an outdoor music fest. One of my friends insisted that we catch his set. So I grudgingly went along as there were a lot of other good bands in the line-up that day, including Jakob Dylan and the Wallflowers. And it was still early... So at one point during his set, the rest of the band took a break and went backstage. Then Kid Rock proceeded to go around to every instrument on stage and perform a solo on each. My first reaction was "what a show off". Then it occurred to me that he was actually a quite talented multi-instrumentalist! ? Still not a big fan of his music, but he earned my respect as a musician... https://www.rollingstone.com/music/music-news/21-things-you-learn-hanging-out-with-kid-rock-182055/ -
I really think this would be a nice and useful addition to Cakewalk for songwriters that write on their computer. I am hopeful since the developers have already added the arranger track. So adjusting the song harmonically is the next logical step. Moving forward! ?

If you want Chord Track then read this, updated with link

Rather than post a long winded FR, I thought I would just post a couple of video examples of using the chord track in Studio One 4 Pro. I'm not suggesting an exact copy of the PreSonus feature, but this is used to give an idea of the general function to shoot for. This feature would probably be most useful in the songwriting stage. If you are already working on recording and mixing your final song version, probably not so much. In a nutshell, the main points to harmonically adjusting your entire song via chord track are: 1. A project chord track at the top, similar to an arranger track or a tempo track, but one that can mark specific chord changes along the timeline. 2. The ability for the instrument and audio tracks follow the chord changes (follow chords enabled) by transposing harmonically to match the chord track. You should be able to select which tracks will follow, such as you wouldn't want your rhythm parts such MIDI drums to transpose. a. Instrument (or MIDI) tracks will be able to transpose directly to match the chord assigned in the chord track. Chord detection is a no-brainer here, as the note data already exists in MIDI tracks. b. Audio tracks are probably a bit more challenging, dependent on ARA for accurate chord detection within audio, and pitch shifting them to match harmonically. There are probably reasonable limits to how much shifting would remain musical. 3. It is non-destructive. You can change the chord track at any time, and you can disable it and revert to your original version. 4. A chord selector to choose chords from (such as a circle of fifths). 5. Extract chords to the chord track. Example: if you have already recorded a MIDI instrument part in your song with your original chords, those chords can be extracted to the chord track by selecting that track and extracting them. It's also possible to extract chords from audio, but possibly a bit more work. This first video is a good overview of chord track: This second video takes a bit of a deeper dive into working with audio in chord track:

On a positive note, maybe that will inspire iZotope to resume development of this fine instrument!

That deal is dead to me too.

Garritan Personal Orchestra, no staccato woodwinds

The SampleTank 3 library has staccato articulations for woodwinds, but they all appear to be derived from Miroslav . -
The Vegas that I just mentioned was Vegas Pro 14, and I was able to get acceptable results from some HD video clips I shot on a compact Canon camera. Edited, then exported as MP4 and uploaded to share with friends. But it was time consuming. I have since added Vegas Movie Studio 16 Platinum (a Humble deal I believe), but haven't really used it. It resembles Vegas Pro in many ways. But just a bit cut down. Since I use Adobe Photoshop Elements and like that, I was considering Adobe Premiere Elements as a video companion. But it looks like the reviews favor Corel Video Studio Ultimate. It's probably worth $25 to find out. ?
-
I slogged through Vegas earlier this year. As I'm not a full time video editor, I would prefer something a bit more intuitive. Have always been a still pic editor. ?

This looks interesting. Read some reviews at PC Mag and it got 4 stars. https://www.pcmag.com/reviews/corel-videostudio-ultimate

I got PaintShop Pro 2020 Ultimate because it was cheap. It might have a few useful features and effects that could be useful. We'll see, but I'm leaning towards Larry's opinion. My default go-to photo editor for quick edits has been Photoshop Elements since version 2. So I would say that having a tool you are familiar with saves you time. Just like an old DAW that you know well. ? I have skipped many Elements update versions. I was stuck on version 10 since 2013 because it just worked so well. But I recently grabbed the 2020 version to catch up. No subscription required, but they do sell a new version every year. This last update cost me $65.

If you see me trying to buy another Waves product, slap me
abacab replied to Kevin Walsh's topic in Instruments & Effects
Along with the reordering of Scheps effects, you have one "optional" slot to insert another Waves plugin of your choosing into Omni channel. Then if you drop Omni Channel into Waves StudioRack you can create an effects chain with multiple Waves effects before or after Omni Channel, if desired. And if you are using Cakewalk, you could insert that StudioRack into a Pro Channel FX chain. Not that you would really need to, but you can if you want to. -
I got the H-Series a while back. It's a pretty good set of processors for delay, compression, EQ, & reverb. The delay and reverb come with a wet/dry default of 100%, so if using them as inserts you will probably want to dial it back some.

Not exactly a Black Friday deal, but I used a Waves voucher from my recent WUP to get 50% off the upgrade to Abbey Road Collection. So it cost me $20 to pick up the last 2 plugins for the collection at $10 each, and one was Reel ADT (automatic double tracking), a very nice one!

You mean Whup that WUP!

abacab replied to Kevin Walsh's topic in Instruments & Effects
I bought another Waves plugin today. Well actually it was two... I completed my Abbey Road Collection with an upgrade to the full collection for $20. I was only lacking two. Are there any comparable plug-ins to these anywhere? -
I would recommend this $8.99 adapter cable for connecting a 2.5 inch SSD or HDD to a USB 3.0 port. No power required: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B011M8YACM/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o02_s00

Is your Win 7 setup as 32-bit or 64-bit? Cakewalk by BandLab is 64-bit only. That means it won't install on a 32-bit system. System requirements listed here: https://www.bandlab.com/products/cakewalk
