  1. It's worth grabbing for the Waveform Pattern Generator... Now included in free. https://www.tracktion.com/products/waveform-compare-versions Tracktion Waveform Pattern Generator Tutorial (old version, but best tutorial overview).
  2. Here's the system requirements for Minecraft: https://www.systemrequirementslab.com/cyri/requirements/minecraft/11356 Any computer made in the last 5 years should be fine for that.
  3. Not if you "clone" your existing OS drive onto the new SSD before swapping it. For example, Samsung even provides the cloning software to move your system onto one of their SSD drives. I've used it several times. Works great! All you really need in addition to accomplish that is an external USB to SATA cable to temporarily attach the SSD during the cloning process. After the clone is ready, just swap it in and boot... away you go!
  4. GOG is a good source for classic games cheap. And some of the older ones released in the last 10 years don't have as heavy system requirements as the new releases. https://www.gog.com/games?sort=popularity&page=1
  5. You'll likely need to budget at least $400+ just for a serious gaming GPU... https://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/best-gpus,4380.html An XBox is probably a better plan. $499.00 https://www.xbox.com/en-US/consoles/xbox-series-x
  6. I think Syntronik is designed mainly to be used as a ROMpler (a preset machine) for musicians that need a song ready sound. Then you can tweak the filters or envelopes and the effects to make it fit. I agree that serious sound designers (who prefer to make all synth sounds from init) may find Syntronik lacking, and they are usually the loudest to bash it, especially over at places like KVR. But Syntronik sounds great, as the samples are high quality and came directly from recording the vintage analog synths.
  7. I 'm not getting bent, but I will say that it's rather obvious that IK's business plan is to grow by acquiring as many customers as possible by giving free stuff away to new customers. Some other companies have realized that keeping existing customers as happy as possible brings in growth organically...
  8. As far as I'm aware, none of the Studio One projects are backwards compatible with older versions. They recommend making a copy of the project to test in the new version, and leaving the old version of the DAW installed side by side.
  9. I wouldn't hold my breath for that to happen. I know that we love them. And they are still good synths if you are lucky enough to have them. But strictly looking at it from an economic and marketing perspective, they would face some very stiff competition in the soft synth market today if they were just being released now. It might be tough to build a business case for re-investing in them. Just look at the the quality of the free software available now, and the $29 (or even $1) type deals from the heavy hitters. Sigh...
  10. Open the IK Authorization Manager and enter the serial number for Syntronik Deluxe. That will unlock them if they haven't been authorized yet. I had to do that myself, even though I had assumed that the Product Manager would take care of it. Evidently not...
  11. Meng, the CEO of BandLab, assured us that CbB would be free for as long as it's around. However, he did not promise that it would be around forever.
  12. That Thomann link is the lowest price to upgrade from Live 10 Standard to Live 10 Suite that I could find. https://m.thomannmusic.com/ableton_live_10_suite_upg_10_standard.htm Their 200.84 EUR price with USD exchange rate showed as $253.56 USD today, which is still quite a bit lower than Ableton's direct $295 offer. Which in my case, is only $94 more than buying the Live 11 Standard upgrade for $159 USD. Kind of makes Suite a no-brainer with this difference.
  13. Interesting... I have VA3 and Chromaphone 3, but have never seen the Ableton versions is use. Only have Live 10 Standard. So that's one less excuse to upgrade to Suite, LOL!!
  14. If you're into VCV Rack (the free Eurorack simulator) https://vcvrack.com/, there are 22 Surge FX modules available for VCV. https://library.vcvrack.com/SurgeRack
  15. On Windows , the Download Manager downloads the installer files to a dedicated folder (on my PC, "C:\Users\username\Downloads\IK Product Manager"), and unzips them, and then installs them from there. When IK DM is all done installing, I empty that folder out and move the zipped installers to my archive drive. That frees up the folder on the SSD that the Download Manager uses for downloading, installing.
  16. That $295USD upgrade deal was what Ableton offered to me directly when logged into my account. I assume that may have included the 20% off, because there was a notice to that effect on the same page. My price to upgrade directly at release to Live 11 Standard is $159, or to Live 11 Suite is $379. I really don't need most of what Suite offers, and would only consider that if I really wanted the extra instruments + effects. Otherwise Live 10/11 Standard is good enough for me. As with the other DAWs I use, I mainly stick with 3rd party instruments and effects. I don't like to be locked into one system.
  17. Hmmm... Upgrade from Live 10 Standard to Live 10 Suite for $295. Then get free upgrade to Live 11.

    Arturia 50% off

The 50% off deal is for individual instruments, effects, and sound banks only. Not for collections.
  19. Don't feel bad! There are certain workflows that Live does well that not many other DAWs can come close to. Nothing says you have to stick to one DAW. Craig Anderton used to work for Gibson/Cakewalk, and was very active on the old Cakewalk forums. He described how he used Live and Studio One, as well as Cakewalk. He recommended using the best tool for any particular job at hand. In his case he preferred Live for live use, and Studio One for it's mastering features. Use what works for you!
  20. I wouldn't say awful, but there is a lot of room for improvement! At least ST4 is resizable now! And the sounds... The ST3 UI was awful...
  21. ST4 CS will show icons for all of the IK sample libraries available, but they may not all be unlocked. It can include the ST3 core libraries and add-ons, as well as Syntronik and Miroslav instruments if you already have them. The locked items will show a padlock icon overlay in the ST4 UI, and those owned, but not yet downloaded, will have a down arrow overlay.
  22. I have heard that the best cure for that problem is to just create a small palette (collection) of usable sounds in various categories such as synths, basses, drums, piano, etc., and just work with them at the beginning. Save the sound design for the final stage after you are done composing and arranging.
