  1. Just a suggestion for communicating on public web forums... Go read your topic title again. That's flame bait. Then you open up with the quoted paragraph above. So with that first few seconds, you have already set the expectation for a rant to follow. No matter how valid your arguments are from that point forward, how do you think they will be received, once you have poisoned your presentation with that? I understand that you are frustrated, but please try a more productive style if you want more people to read, watch your videos, and hear what you have to say, which could be very useful. Instead, you are instigating a defensive reaction with your opening statement. But in spite of all that, kudos go to @Noel Borthwickfor wading into the BS with his serious offer to help. That is the future of Cakewalk! ?
  2. I picked up an Asus GTX 1650 OC, with 4GB GDDR6, at B&H for $160 last October. It's the successor to the NVIDIA GTX 1050 line. It's a budget card that should be fine for casual play at 1080p. https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/geforce/graphics-cards/gtx-1650/ They are a 2-4 week wait at the moment... https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1585942-REG/asus_ph_gtx1650_o4gd6_phoenix_geforce_gtx_1650.html
  3. If you are not using all 8GB that you currently have, then adding more RAM will not speed things up. However if you are frequently maxing out the RAM, then adding to it is a no-brainer. Lack of sufficient RAM will force Windows to use the page file on disk when the RAM is full, and that slows down performance. However, no matter what, upgrading to SSD will change your life and feel like a makeover for your PC. Potentially adding years of useful life to it. The spinning HDDs are the throughput bottleneck for most PCs now. I just use HDDs for archive and backup now, and they are good at that. I am running two SSD drives now, one for my [C:] Windows boot and programs drive, and another for my [D:] samples, projects, and other misc. content. The computer boots in 30 seconds, and programs and projects launch in less that that. No lag in the UI, and almost instant responsiveness. Your current CPU has 6 cores at 3.5GHz, so it's no slacker. And you can always use any new SSD drives in a new computer, so that's not wasted money at least trying out that route.
  4. He said Minecraft. Pretty basic requirements...
  5. Waveform Pro 11.5 Update Released (free). Run Tracktion Download Manager to update.
  6. Nothing against video games by themselves (except the ones that are unashamedly pathological), but it is good to see a healthy balance with life outside cyberspace. For example, there are a couple of families around the block from me whose young kids are always outside playing in the yard and neighborhood street. Reminds me of how my generation grew up. Good to see some parents encouraging their kids to get outdoors.
  7. Can you post a screen capture of the issue?
  8. I believe that most vendors will allow some leeway with drives. So worst case is to be safe, just deactivate any Waves or iLok based plugins first. The re-activate them afterwards. I don't recall my last drive swap causing this issue, but a recent motherboard swap under Windows 10 caused just about everything to require re-activation, even Windows.
  9. I have an older Win7 system (not my DAW) running an i5-3570K that I bumped to 16GB and a 950GTX, and it runs older games (vintage 2000-2015) just fine. That GTX cost me about $150 4-5 years ago.
  10. The answer you seek is in your original thread. Keep reading it until you understand. ?
  11. What do you mean? I've not had any issues with broken applications, as a clone is an exact copy of the original drive. Are you referring to activations where sw detected a hardware change?
  12. It's worth grabbing for the Waveform Pattern Generator... Now included in free. https://www.tracktion.com/products/waveform-compare-versions Tracktion Waveform Pattern Generator Tutorial (old version, but best tutorial overview).
  13. Here's the system requirements for Minecraft: https://www.systemrequirementslab.com/cyri/requirements/minecraft/11356 Any computer made in the last 5 years should be fine for that.
  14. Not if you "clone" your existing OS drive onto the new SSD before swapping it. For example, Samsung even provides the cloning software to move your system onto one of their SSD drives. I've used it several times. Works great! All you really need in addition to accomplish that is an external USB to SATA cable to temporarily attach the SSD during the cloning process. After the clone is ready, just swap it in and boot... away you go!
  15. GOG is a good source for classic games cheap. And some of the older ones released in the last 10 years don't have as heavy system requirements as the new releases. https://www.gog.com/games?sort=popularity&page=1
  16. You'll likely need to budget at least $400+ just for a serious gaming GPU... https://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/best-gpus,4380.html An XBox is probably a better plan. $499.00 https://www.xbox.com/en-US/consoles/xbox-series-x
  17. I think Syntronik is designed mainly to be used as a ROMpler (a preset machine) for musicians that need a song ready sound. Then you can tweak the filters or envelopes and the effects to make it fit. I agree that serious sound designers (who prefer to make all synth sounds from init) may find Syntronik lacking, and they are usually the loudest to bash it, especially over at places like KVR. But Syntronik sounds great, as the samples are high quality and came directly from recording the vintage analog synths.
  18. I 'm not getting bent, but I will say that it's rather obvious that IK's business plan is to grow by acquiring as many customers as possible by giving free stuff away to new customers. Some other companies have realized that keeping existing customers as happy as possible brings in growth organically...
  19. As far as I'm aware, none of the Studio One projects are backwards compatible with older versions. They recommend making a copy of the project to test in the new version, and leaving the old version of the DAW installed side by side.
  20. I wouldn't hold my breath for that to happen. I know that we love them. And they are still good synths if you are lucky enough to have them. But strictly looking at it from an economic and marketing perspective, they would face some very stiff competition in the soft synth market today if they were just being released now. It might be tough to build a business case for re-investing in them. Just look at the the quality of the free software available now, and the $29 (or even $1) type deals from the heavy hitters. Sigh...
  21. Open the IK Authorization Manager and enter the serial number for Syntronik Deluxe. That will unlock them if they haven't been authorized yet. I had to do that myself, even though I had assumed that the Product Manager would take care of it. Evidently not...
  22. Meng, the CEO of BandLab, assured us that CbB would be free for as long as it's around. However, he did not promise that it would be around forever.
  23. That Thomann link is the lowest price to upgrade from Live 10 Standard to Live 10 Suite that I could find. https://m.thomannmusic.com/ableton_live_10_suite_upg_10_standard.htm Their 200.84 EUR price with USD exchange rate showed as $253.56 USD today, which is still quite a bit lower than Ableton's direct $295 offer. Which in my case, is only $94 more than buying the Live 11 Standard upgrade for $159 USD. Kind of makes Suite a no-brainer with this difference.
